Controversy Surrounding Souths V Bulldogs Ref. Decision

Pretty sure graham was put on report for the tackle. Could be wrong though.
For mine, a penalty anytime of the game, unfortunate it was last minute in front.
That sort of tackle has knee ligament damage written all over it.
Graham needs to be put in his place also, gets away with too much chat during the game. Rules changed last year that captain wasn't entitled to question every call. Needs 10 mins in the bin to set a precedent and get control back.

The only issue i have is where they spotted the penalty. It landed 10m from the touchline, yet the penalty was in front of the posts.

Yep- definitely agree with that. Obviously, I'm not a dogs fan but from a "neutral" POV, I thought it was a fair call apart from what you mentioned.

Dogs fans aim bottles at the ref. that whole club is a bloody disgrace.

Actually, apparently if there is a foul on the player attempting a field goal, the penalty kick is right from the front.

Souffs are crumbling .

Wests Tigers will make the 8 .

If that's how a team crumbles the Tigers need two servings thanks!

There missing Sutton , Dylan Walker , Reynolds for a period of time.

I imagine Issac Luke should be right for next week but who knows with Inglis what he's done to his knee?

10 (a) If a player fouls an opponent who is attempting a drop goal, a penalty kick shall be awarded in front of the goal posts.

Right call was made its just most either are now use to kickers being attacked or just don't like a game to end that way.

Lucky no one got sent off for kicking in the head.

Seems Dogs fans didn't like it either pelting the ref's with bottles…

Stay Classy Doggies fans...

Oh and BTW,,Its a fair penalty IMO...dangerous contact with the legs of a kicker,,,,it was an accident but so are many high tackles...come up off the ball are penalties...

You cant do what the refs just did and expect passionate fans to just go home quietly.

Please. Idc how terrible of a decision it was, they were getting full bottles thrown at them, nothing justifies that.

And they said Dogs fans weren't a blight on the game anymore

What's gives those dogs fans the right to think they can chuck objects at the referee/human beings. On a supposedly religious weekend.. absolute grubs. Lost all respect for the dogs team/club. I would be spewing if tiger fans acted like that…

Got a feeling that it isn't a religious weekend for them.

Have done a bit of research and come up with this:

In the 2015 edition of the "Rugby League Laws Of The Game International Level with notes on the laws and NRL Telstra Premiership Interpretations"
Section 13 (Penalty Kick) - Page 35 - Point 10 (a)

So it does appear that the resultant penalty and the location it was taken from could have been the correct decision.

Read it correctly GNR, i have not tried to justify their behavior. I am simply stating a fact.

Get it right.

Word coming through that Josh Reynolds threw a kicking tee at Adam as Adam was limping back into position. Dog act if true.

In every game we see penalties given for accidental head high shots and nothing is said, its just normal. Today, a half's legs were taken out accidentally and unintentionally; however the offender put himself in that position, knowing full well the consequences if he were to make contact. Legitimate penalty every day of the week. Unfortunate, but a penalty. Happens every game, every round.

In regard to the way their captain, players and fans reacted that was an absolute disgrace. Wouldn't expect anything less though. Dogs by name and dogs by nature.

We are really good friends with a director at the Bulldogs and he got hit in the head by a bottle whilst talking to one of the bulldogs players as they waked off, he is filthy. Just got off the phone with him and he reckons that the NRL are absolutely giving it to them. They aren't happy at all !

Ohh and apparently the police quickly got in and arrested 30-40 people and took them back to the station.

Such an ugly look. Amazing that we were talking about the dogs fans and their behaviour just last week.

Could have been similar last week had it been the dogs getting run down after leading by eighteen, and not getting penalties for their five eight getting taken out etc

Have hated, yes that is a harsh word, but my feelings for sections of their fans have been that way since an Anzac day match at Leichhardt in the eighties.

He's fast becoming the biggest grub in the NRL, overtaking such luminaries as Bird, Gallen, Matai, Myles and Ennis.

I think the game blew up because it was a controversial decision that determined the result of the game, following a couple of other dubious decisions, ie the Inglis bad play the ball on the fifth tackle, and Graham penalised for holding on too long( I think - he seems to get penalised for blinking) leading to a penalty equalising the score. It seems that Inglis just has to put his hands in the air and the referee blows the whistle. Hate it when I feel the best team loses, especially when there is more than one dubious call against them. Not a fan of either team and not a person who studies the technicalities of the rule book - but my feeling was that the Bulldogs got ripped off today through penalties at crucial times that were given at the discretion of the ref. What happened following the game was disgraceful, and cant be condoned under any circumstance. Glad I am not a Bulldog supporter, especially today.

Ok i will spell out.

I am justifying them getting angry.

Committing a criminal act on the back of that anger is an individuals choice based on his or hers morals and not something i go anywhere near justifying in my post.

As you well know!

Now leave it alone and stop trying to get under peoples skin.

Go read a book or something.
