We need to make amends with DT somewhat i think
"Independent Always" aka SMH is ok but
A. Nobody reads it, it is not a working man's / league paper
B. They do not have a TV show on fox league

Clubs probably pay for favourable articles i know racing used to do that in DT they would pay for positive space.

Fact is we have Fox sports and DT journo's on fox and it is not going away, we need to throw a bone occasionally not to Buzz but maybe Kent or Hooper

There are very good reason why the Tigers treat DT jurnos with distain and all you need to do is check their record of rubbish and misinformation they put in print about the club and what damage that has done to our brand.

Yes SMH is not a league paper it is a Rah Rah leather patch brigade Rugby Union supporters paper. The journo's in SMH sport also do not have nrl 360 show either and SMH has opinion pieces from the bandana wearing Fitzsimon rugby through and through doesn't leave the North shore and Andrew Webster.

I hate Buzz and Hooper and Crawley but we can't fight these guys give them something sometimes is all. Murdoch and Foxtel are not going away

What are you talking about, SMH / Fairfax and Channel 9 are the same company. Phil Gould writes for SMH.

SMH only has a small representation for rugby and it is a very heavily league paper, as any Sydney-based media outlet will be.

more often than we miss out....the criticism will stop and we wont have wasted money on tasteless bones, and tasteless bones have a tendency to become very tasty treats, such as $1100 bottles of wine.

Yes throw a bone was a bad expression by me i meant WT letting the DT journos sometimes getting a "scoop" we tend to talk more to the SMH and Michael Chamaras (not sure on spelling) share the PR around as we don't all read SMH or watch chanel 9 etc some do watch kayo and nrl360 and we could do with some positive pieces sometimes

yes but the devil is in the detail for readership - the SMH is predominantly an eastern suburbs paper, great readership along the coast and low everywhere else. DT is the exact opposite. Sunday telegraph smashes everything.

My take is that we are hopeless at controlling the stories so we don't engage, this is rubbish as it leaves fans open to innuendo and rumours. Probably half the reason we have such an active base on social media, but even to the fans, there is nothing from the clubs.

Im pretty tired of getting nothing from the club until its general knowledge - that's not any way to treat anyone let along fgabns and paid up members. Our media team and engagement is shockingly bad

I've wondered for years and never really been given a clear answer to this. Do the club have anyone in-house working on PR or do we engage an external PR company. If we don't then its an absolute shambles as negative press can affect membership numbers and corporate sponsorship.

We need to get ahead of the negative stories and control the narrative.

One great example of this was earlier this year when the current NSW coach was quoted in the media as saying the Tigers should be prime for relocation as we have no fan base. As well as being factually incorrect it was a highly inappropriate thing to say about a member club and the club really should have challenged him on it. Instead we got silence and the idea was allowed to grow and fester. As a member I found this grossly insulting.

If we had a decent PR team you'd hope they would have been all over this.

Simple answer ..some finals appearances ...a couple of top line signings...continued corporate governance ..remaining financially stable and stopping some of the stupidity that has happened at the top end ....ie Marina Go's Ides of March moment , Farahgate , Clearygate , Taylorball , having 2.5 million basically bench bound for over half of their contracts

Journos don't need to look at hard at the WT's ...we hand a lot of stuff on a platter to them

We were the media darlings back in 2010. We featured heavily on the sports programs through Benji involvement in the footy show. Got his mate on Beau Ryan and next thing you know Heighno was in the segment as a regular as well. It peeved plenty of other fans who suggested we got favours on the field too.
We have to suck it up and get ourselves back to where we should be.
