Drugs, sex, domestic violence: football’s cover-up

I may be in the minority but drug taking and being a pants man is really no ones business. DV is a different issue it’s the lowest of acts.

I’d be careful judging this as all sorts of things get thrown out there with divorce and custody issues. Timing of this news story is very suspicious.

No one really cared when it was Andrew Johns

On the timing. I’m just glad it’s not us. Couldn’t care less about that

I'm looking forward to the Crawley report. I'm sure it'll be very in depth and insightful.

Pretty sure the three female journos have covered everything. What could Crawley possibly come up with? Lol

Given Crawley's ties with Bennett and Fox Sports I'm sure he'll write an article taking aim at the credibility of the Australian journalists and Phoebe Burgess. NRL360 will be interesting next week.

I am sure he will, however it is like a man holding a wet lettuce leaf trying to stop an armoured brigade

The issue of DV and drug taking will need to be proved and the presumption of innocence should apply.

For me, the most damning issue from all this from the NRL’s perspective is that there is strong evidence of Souths covering the whole thing up.

The allegation is that the Club Doctor falsified a prescription in order to protect Burgess and the club.

With regard to proof of this, there exists written evidence from the father-in-law and documentation from the pharmacy that filled the prescription with the club doctor’s name on it and the father-in-law nominated as the recipient of the drug.

This is strong evidence of a club cover up.

The articles have raised a host of issues that the club will have to explain. But I’ll be particularly interested to see how the club argues its way out of the falsified prescription issue.

Dewsbury is a tough part of West Yorkshire and being a lad unfortunately won't cut it as an excuse for the gentry in the Southern Highlands. Sam's reference to the actions his father would have taken in relation to the social media issue is illuminating.

Although it is Weidler, it provides an insight into Burgess and a sense of his upbringing in Dewsbury.

And next time you ask a question, how about demonstrating that you can be respectful of others on the forum.

What about an NRL clubs doctor writing prescriptions in false names and administering drug tests in false names. Is that anyone else's business?

We can all set our calendars now. Cue the Sixty Minutes in depth interview with Sam in about 3 weeks in which Tara asks him some soft questions, he cries and we are all expected to welcome him back,

What are u you on about now?

There are so many reports on the issue. One report claims Burgess was after Billy Smith from Easts as he thought he was the one who leaked the sexting story - he mentions how his father would have sorted Smith out being a hard nose for Yorkshire.

Big emotional story about his childhood and father
The lows of being a popular athlete making millions
Him holding his daughter staring out at the ocean saying that all he cares about is his family now

As i said earlier in the thread ...this story must have gone so close to breaking at the time , we knew about the father getting the AVO and the divorce and the Pics

Makes you wonder ....did the press purposely not touch this story for a reason .....

2 and 2 don't add up .....

They will just throw the Doc under the bus. Interesting that Russell Crowe is being very quiet about the whole thing. If the reports are true then he knew everything about the DV situation as Phoebe Burgess confided in him. He tried keeping everything in house by inviting the family to the ranch and putting Burgi on the right path. Surely as the owner of the club he had to inform the NRL. If that aint a cover up i don't know what is.

I would think the only reason for the delay is that wanted to be 100% sure of their information and wanted their legal teams to go over every thing with a fine tooth comb before releasing it. One mistake or false allegation and they will be sued for millions and not just bey Burgess.

Don't forget the personal 'mental health' demons he has been battling behind the scenes.
