I think the issue is Sheens

thats doesnt mean he didnt put his hand up.
I highly doubt he did mate. Club went all in on Ciraldo confident they would get him and they didn’t. If Flanno really wanted to be a head coach again he probably should’ve outright said I’ll do it. The fact they went Sheens as soon as it became an option tells me that he didn’t apply for the job to go to Sheens straight away.

I dont mind you guessing but you always push your opinion as fact. You cant state as a fact that Flanagan and no one else applied.

Never said it was fact but given Sheens was appointed as soon as Ciraldo said no, it makes sense that Flanagan or no one was putting up their hand saying I’ll do it. Tigers were the only club that sacked their coach last year and Flanagan just said I would love to be a coach again. There was one available and given he didn’t get the job he either didn’t apply, or was never in consideration. My money is on the first one given Sheens was handed the job pretty much as soon as Ciraldo said no.

Yeh, pascoe has acknowledged that a coach changes the whole dynamics of the club in appointing the football staff they want they've obviously gone with someone who can bring some of the old boys back to bring a better vibe to the club unfortunately it hasn't resulted in anything that looks like a win..

I guess we have to remember where the club was at the end of last year and accept we have a long way to go.

Well if Sheens is 0-6 he honestly should be sacked then. But Benji probably just takes over early if that did happen.

locking in the coach for the next 5 years was a horrendous choice

I think its more likley they didnt want him
What makes you think that? Flanagan does have a soft spot for us given he was a Wests guy, but he never seem too keen to put his hand up and say I’ll do it. Given how quick Sheens got in, I say there were no other candidates for the job. Or if there was they weren’t experienced enough for the job.

Sacking coaches doesnt necessarily give the results. Chucking marshall in early wouldnt either. Coaching needs to build and so does recruitment. Focus should be players and a new ceo to stimulate more change would probably be a good thing too

Squad squad squad of perennial losers who have never been held accountable and yet get paid as much and better than players at other clubs.
Sheens may not be the answer but he is not the problem. Weed out the finger pointing losers and get some standards on the paddock and things will change

Trouble is though we’re 0-4 and so far we haven’t signed a new player for 2024. Not saying they aren’t trying, but I doubt many people are putting their hands up to come to us for 24.

Unfortunately what the club have inadvertently done is tied the success (or failure) of Sheens to Benji. If Sheens fails, there is no Benji. If he does step up early we’re in serious trouble, barring a miracle.

Won’t be able to get rid of Sheens and Benji. Will cost too much and be too much of an embarrassment. We are so bad we need to offer a coach a long term contract to entice them and to give them time to do the job and financial security. You should only lock in a long term coach who is established though. Not a has been and someone who the CEO admitted they didn’t even know could coach when they signed him.
