It’s not just recruitment it’s development which is the problem. It’s why the big clubs win they spend the money in the right areas to help players perform at their optimum.

Interesting. Sort of like the Rorters developed Tedesco and spend money bringing him to the next level. You might be right but I'm not sure we are so bad at development.

We neglected the entire MacArthur region forever. Penrith, Parramatta and Tigers have the biggest nurseries by far. The fact we haven’t got our own talent and perennial finals team is evidence we can’t sign or develop very well.

That said we didn’t retain Moses, Tedesco, Nathan Brown, Ben Teo, Aaron Woods, Taniela Pamela, Andrew Fifita, Ryan Papynhuyzen, Sironen, Korobiete, JAC and more.

Taniela Paseka

Auto correct.

Chammas was saying that the players are being managed with fear and not reacting to it.

The look in the players faces at half time does suggest this maybe it was not the right approach???

Interesting yelling at grown men never comes up for belemey.

Maguire and OBrien both from the Bellamy school of coaching and both yellers.Bellamy is often shown throwing items in the box screaming superlatives in full view and has a reputation of tearing strips of his players in the sheds. If our boys are in fear they better put a line through Melbourne they would never survive - and Bellamy probably wouldn't want them anyway.

Yeah works for them suggest player issue.

This team is more competent than they think but maybe the team changes over the past month is the root cause of their decreasing form. From what I've observed, the winning teams are able to modify or adapt their game seamlessly but we're still struggling with having the right attitude in crucial games.
Don't know much about behavioral psychology in Sports but surely overtaxing or depleting games - due to playing understrength - must have some effect on a player's headspace.

It may have been "fear" to start with but now I think it's gone to resentment and doubt. Not a great mix.

Well then maybe it is time for them to leave with the bludgers we have accumulated and the ones that are going into retirement.

Oh! and by the way (via edit) Mbye certainly wasn't scared, he just wasn't interested at half time.

Yep as far as I’m concerned we need a huge clean out ASAP.

Not sure if this is the thread for it, however just on 360 Todd Payton announced that he turned down the NZ Warriors job due to family reasons with his preference to be moving back to North Queensland.
Very interesting....

Think we’d still be in the same spot

Bellamy has an inspirational leader in Smith who will carry out game plan. We have the polite, well spoken Mbye. I know who I want fighting besides me in the trenches. For all the shit Forum Members put on Smith the guy is a winner and has others who follow. We are happy to finish 9th each year and have the occasion win over a few top sides that makes us happy and then fills us with some hope until we lose the next week to a bottom placed team where we were 1.50 favourites. Happy if we can string 3 wins together this season.

I don't think its all doom and gloom. Wests only need to find NRL standard players to replace the current 1,6,7,9...plus a winger..and a center or two...maybe a lock and a couple of forwards by early next year and they will be competitive!

If we don't make the finals this year and Madge fails in the first 6 rounds next year, he will be gone anyway. It's nice to hear Madge continuously repeat over and over at the presser's how we are building something special and making us feel warm and fuzzy inside. The reality is, by round 6 next year, he will be shown the door. Don't be fooled by Hagipantelis talking up extension contracts, thats just pumping up his tyres so he can do something with the current bunch of misfits (excluding our young up- and- comers)we have.

Let’s move on to our 6th coach in the last 10 years that strategy has been a master stoke.

This is the most depressing thread I’ve read. Must be those old tigers/magpies fans. Haven’t bothered going back enough to check. I’m sure I’ll be told anyway FFS

It would be disastrous, but I can see us going down that path.

I’ve been critical of some things Madge has done but I don’t think we could do any better. We can’t survive another change.

Totally agree. He's the man.

I'm not be being fooled by your "inside" knowledge that he could be gone by round 6 next year either.
