James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

The plain and simple reality is that Tedesco had two choices:

1\. Lead us like a best player does. At 24, he could have turned into an Andrew Ettinghausen type leader who stayed with one club and lead us to finals footy for the next 8 years. Possibly got a premiership in there. Retired an absolute legend.

OR

2\. Take the easy option. Join the Rorters and basically 'slip in' to the role Minichello once had. Club is already full of leaders, thus no real responsibility. Win a comp there maybe, and be just another piece in their crooked machine. Don't win one or get injured and he will be shipped off as damaged goods as quickly as possible.

Ultimately, he took the easy option.

Yep. So lets celebrate!

Are Ben Matulino and Josh Reynolds traitors Dogs..I'm just curious…

I don't mean to be disrespectful Geo, but the situations are so completely different that it is stunning you could even compare them…

Reynolds and Matulino have both been effectively 'pushed out' by the salary cap. Both were loyal clubmen and both broke down in tears telling their mates they were leaving. Both are towards the end of their careers (27 and 28). Both showed loyalty for years. Both went to GFs and finals with their clubs.

Tedesco is a local kid, who the club stood by 1000% despite years of injuries. They then offered him Thurston like money to stay. At only 24 he is walking away having achieved absolutely nothing with us.

If Tedesco was 28, I could understand his urgency. But he is 24 and, instead of leading us.......he is bailing. It is that simple. He is taking the easy option of just jumping on the Rorters train.

Reynolds was pretty much pushed out the door, Mataulino was only on modest money, so no not the same, Teddy was offered well over a million to stay

There's some interesting information about Tedesco's deal that has been bubbling in the background.

Why it took so long to get in order?

I'll leave it to the person to reveal it if they so wish to.

That's a crap go

I agree, either say what you know or don't say anything. Cannot stand when people who say "I know something oooooh won't tell you though", so primary school playground. Hope you get cooties.

Just got a message from my mate who works at the Roosters that he's sorry for what's about to happen in the next 10 minutes. Guessing that's official announcement

Oh dear - hope someone is with Milky.

Very well said CNX!
makes you want the club stop developing and supporting juniors. put the money into poachers rather than trainers.

Roosters have lost RTS,Jennings,Maloney to name a few over the last few years, but have proven that the show must go on..

We need to get over it and accept this is part of sport and move forward..

Yep, and can't forget that elastic cap… Wonder what percentage of his contact is TPA's?

Anyway, 95% of the forum were expecting this, it certainly isn't a disappointing as I'd thought it'd be.

Sums it up for me as well, not angry or upset, just disappointed that he took the easy option.

Here's hoping we win won before them

Actually it would be good if they beat canterbury in the grand final and both sides have to shed players next year because of salary cap restrictions - fail to do so and are docked all competition points for 2018\. This sets both sides back in recruiting and takes another 4 years before they see finals football again.

Not once did Turdesco say 'thank you' to the club who supported him through all his injuries. Instead he has chosen to bad mouth the club at every opportunity.

Onwards and upwards for the tigers from here!

Seriously Geo… there is a difference between the circus these guys put on and just about every other contract ever done in the NRL. Plenty of players have advertised they were going to test the market, in an effort to be transparent while they had a club offer on the table. Not these two...

Even you have to know in your heart of hearts that there is a distinction between them leaving and how they went about it which has directly led to the fan revolt. Losing Teddy in a professional and surgical manner would have had the fans out with pitchforks for management, it would have been a bloodbath of biblical proportions. It took a special set of circumstances to have so many (just about all) supporters turn on them.

Our 2 brought this on themselves.
