OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Hopefully the meeting goes well.

We thank him for a few years of good service and helping turn us around, while getting off a terrible contract and he gets to cash out handsomely while being an ambassador for the game's expansion into a new market.

Win-win.

I think he stays until 2028
if we win a comp in 26 or 27 then he leaves us in good steady and a destination club and he takes the tax free cash
Yeah Fair call, but what if we win 26 AND 27 ,you gotta hang round for the 3rd ... don't ya??
4 in a row for Panthers, 3 in a row for the Tigers....29 off to the PNG retirement village or compound for 1year tax free

PNG is crazy & the NRL will need to do something about it because they basically will if fully funded have double the salary cap to spend given the zero tax benefit.

Will be interesting how the NRL manage this moving forward. Can see players head over for 2-3yrs take the cash then head back to a different club.

We’ve seen first hand how it works out when cash is your only selling point.

Big job for Chammas.

Your post is somewhat lopsided, he would have heaps of money to retire and I bet he gets a gig on TV , if he leaves this club will fall back to what it was , our club has seen player after player walk out with little effort to stop them , that’s what I am trying to get at , I have been a tiger supporter for over 50 years so don’t say I only look at numbers on there back . I have never failed to support my team throw thick and thin
How’s it lopsided ? How would you know how much cash he has . That post is absolute dribble ….

I think you can get a direct flight from Townsville to Port Moresby only a few hours easy let the family live in Townsville on the water
When I used to travel to PNG regularly there was a regular flight from Cairns to POM and many executives had their families based over there, and as it was about a 1.5 flight it was an easy commute.
I just watched that interview with Weidler who said JL and his wife went and were given a comprehensive visit to all the relevant places, including the old Airport Hotel where they are creating a secure compound. They also met with the PM up there who is super keen for this to be a huge success.
It’s a massive move, especially for a young Samoan woman and her kids, so I’d say that, not the footy side, is where it will be won or lost. Also V Landys may be prepared to offer some under the table extras to make it happen.
On the other hand, Perth would be a super place to live with a young family.
But nothing from them so far !

Luai has 2 or 3 very young children i think??
Id be surprised if he took them if he did go...thatd mean his missus stays too youd think
I may well be way off
Agree with you here,
All the Wives and children will have to get on, as I can’t see them being out amongst the locals for safety reasons.
Gated community living will test their relationships.
Great money v Life style is the question they need to ask their selves.

Exactly mate, and I’ve seen so many guys go there for big bucks but have ended up losing their family ( and themselves) along the way .
The local expression is “going troppo” !
