Kyle Lovett gone?

Maybe the Tigers should use the same accountancy firm as the Broncos…..or maybe player retention just comes down to hidden payments/endorsements etc

Lovett was not the most skilled or flashiest player in the world , but he got some heart , he doesn't deserve to be trashed

I guess the club will release something tomorrow, probably along the lines of" we thank Kyle for his efforts over the past few years and wish him all the best in the future"…That tells us nothing of what really has happened.

**After signing Jamal Idris** late last year, a Tigers official contacted at least two rival clubs attempting to offload utility Kyle Lovett before the NRL season starts.

So you only released this info AFTER it came out in the press

Good work Paws

This was in the Tele article this morning Happy. I know because it is not favourable to WTs it can be put aside as another Tele attempt to paint WTs in a bad light or, Plan B, it can be blamed on Sam Ayoub! Oh someone has already attempted to do this earlier.

While most clubs will compete with a full salary cap of players worth $7 million, the Tigers will be hamstrung by their decisions to drive Farah and Sironen — and now a third player — from the club.

Yet no doubt come June/July we'll hear about half a dozen clubs fined for minor cap breaches of around $75k/$100k/$200k as we do each year

Where the fine money end up?

Taylor Seumanufagai Sue Grant Ballin Lawrence Naiqama Rankin Lovett Griffin Edwards Hunt Littlejohn Chee-Kam McIllwrick Idris …all signed under current management..

Juniors retained under current admin.. Liddle Marsters Heleta Paseka B. Sironen Jacobs..

That's 22 players in the NRL extended squad signed by current admin leaving out some of the other fringe ISP players and those on 2nd tier or part-time contracts...

We are obviously still hamstrung by previous deals and the great penchant for backened deals going back as far as Humpty/Sheens administration continued through Mayer's time at the helm...

We have in the past paid too much for our fringe players and our young guns based on potential which I believe has been addressed by the current administration..

Having said that...I don't take much stock in Daily Tele articles and take them with a grain of salt....but the always someone elses fault is starting to wear a little thin..

I said this last year when are current administration responsible for the decision they make they have signed most of the roster I was shot down for saying it

So say Mayer over payed contacts for Moses and Brooks this year say each player is overs at 150K each where is the rest of the cap

You could say Teddy is under payed big time say 200K

What have the board and CEO done with the cap ?

When does the current mob take the responsibility for decisions they make ?

We got within around 100 k of the Raiders offer to Teddy in the end

Once again I say…Lovett has a binding contract for 2017 with the Tigers, the club could shop him around to every club in the world but he is under no obligation to go anywhere. If they pay him out the money comes out of the cap. The only way the club can get cap relief is if Lovett agrees to a new deal at another club and if he agrees to go to another club you could hardly call the situations as "been forced out"

Okay the club might have told him he will not be getting a renewal in 2018 and will not play top grade, but the bottom line he will get paid for 2017 what ever happens.

Iam not defending the club, I like Lovett and I think he has a bit to offer and I certainly would like him to stay but I am afraid there are 15 other clubs doing the same thing to their players, just go on a few other club forums and you read the same stuff

I wonder how much Jamal is on. Maybe not as bargain basement as first thought.

I think most agree that the positions with the least depth are backrow and outside back. Surely if we are shopping players around, we should be shopping those where we have depth, and other clubs may be struggling so they would absorb most if not all of the players contract.
Instead we are identifying players and looking for a club to take them. They pay a minimal amount and we end up paying the majority of the of their salary under our cap.

Maybe training has shown that he is not as quick as he once was and we have bought a back rower.

I think we should stand and applaud the fact we are getting rid of plodders. For once
our signing and retention strategy makes some sense. I am very concerned about the fact we are playing with an effective salary cap $1m under however, if the current crop are superior to the players released it provides opportunity for other players to get more experienced and also gives a very good excuse to management.

If you look back a few months it was mentioned he was not signed at "bargain basement" levels but at a more moderate but not ridiculous price with incentives if he plays first grade consistently.I am comfortable with that because we badly needed a centre and also a back rower at least we got one of them.

Wasn't Jamal on 200k with 5k match payments for every NRL game he plays? That's up to 140k extra that we need to make sure we have room for in our cap incase he plays every game - maybe that has something to do with it?

This looks to me that the new Manager of Football, Kelly Egan, can do his sums better than his predecessor and has taken action that the fans may or may not like.

The Telecrap is reporting that we are paying part of Siro's contract at Manly.
You would think that when Manly were so keen to get Siro that our club would have held out until Manly paid the full contract.

It wasn't the daily telegraph that reported it. It was Channel 7\. Lovett been this forum whipping boy taking over the likes of moltzen, and now his leaving there's whinging about that.
