So, first reaction is that I'm impressed. We made an offer, Latrell didn't really want it, we moved on. We refused to make special allowances for one player which would have created player disharmony and made us weak. You don't let the inmates run the asylum. Impressive we took that stand despite the inital backlash we would receive.

So now, can we look at JAC and Lomax? Lomax at fullback? Can we afford Arrow as well? In all honesty, if we can land two of those players (plus Luciano) I will be pleased.

We have stood up to not be walked on, that's good, but we need now to land some signatures. Hoping for Luciano soonish.

As long as we don't sign any ridiculously self entitled "prince"

My view, pretty much all along, was that LM didn't want to come here at all and he / his manager was using us for leverage. If he does end up here...great, if not...whatever.

I am 100% behind the decision to withdraw and 100% behind the offer in the first place. I really shake my head with some the posters here who post nonsense without having any facts or knowledge of the behind the scenes wheeling and dealing that takes place between clubs, managers, players and other assorted hanger's on.

Pascoe and Co have actually acted correctly since the beginning in making an offer to a high quality player who would have added significantly to our roster, regardless of other issues he may have; they acting responsibly in chasing and staying professional as the circus gained momentum and I believe again have acted responsibly in withdrawing the contract offer and moving on.

In these cases, Pascoe and Co will always be damned if they do and damed if they don't - especially with the keyboard warriors who would actually run the club better than them ( yeahhhhh right) they are always on a hiding to nothing.

Look forward to the signings of players who actually want to be here (whoever that may be) and to a new year 2020 - I'll be at every game, as usual.

The longer it dragged on, the more desperate the club looked, so I am pleased they've stood their ground and pulled the offer. I'm not as enthusiastic about JAC as others seem to be. I hope that's not what we end up with as our "marquee" signing after all the cash we have atm.

I don't think they looked desperate at all. Why do you look desperate chasing an elite player?

The club would have certainly looked desperate if they signed him on the conditions he wanted.

The rumour is they pulled the offer so Lattrel would take it as a wake up call, as he has no other offers for 2020, in the hope they could start negotiations afresh. Which means another month of fun.

So, we've released Matterson and Marsters and didn't have a big name locked in.... Pascoe is inept and proves it time and time again

There is no doubt Pascoe is way out of his depth.

Not just this, all areas.

Unfortunately...

Wasn't pascoe unfortunately. It was the new chair that had us splashed all over the media.

Hopefully he takes this as a lesson.

I still think if he goes to any club in 2020, it will be us. The Roosters have indicated he'll be in reserve grade in 2020 if he stays. So his options are limited. This could be one of those rare times playing hardball with a player could actually work in your favour.

If the reports that he didn’t want to do extra training and also wanted to go back to Taree when it suited him are true then giving in to those demands would have been the start of a new Boys Club

Sanity prevails the club is always more important than any player, this is what comes from having poor advice.Hopefully he realises that his advisors may not be acting in his best interests and he rethinks his position

It's worth trying. The reason it's generally not a good idea to play hardball in these public negotiations is that you're not dealing with the player, you're dealing with the player manager. When you go playing hardball with the player manager in public then they get their backs up because they think they'll lose standing not just in this negotiation but in future negotiations with other clubs. It becomes an ego thing. This case might be different because the manager has played himself into a corner. Or, he might've been playing us all along to drive his price up, in which case the sooner we moved on the better.

Can you imagine running those conditions by Maguire?

Yeah no problemo Latrelll, just turn up to training when you can.

Especially when he's wanting to play fullback which he hasn't played at for a couple of years, and is going to require plenty of fitness work to get him up to scratch.

Congratulations to WT's on withdrawing their offer probably should have happened a week ago but lets move on may be a case coulda woulda shoulda but life goes on I do remember JAC saying he would like to return one day to WT's during an exit interview on FOX

Today's announcement from Pascoe was a shot across the bow at Mitchell's management. Discussions directly involving Latrell himself has been positive & every indication was given he would be joining but since dealing directly with his management that's when the games have started, many at the club believe he's not getting the full story from his management & hence the very public withdrawal today. There's still every chance he could join but the handling of this from his management team has been nothing short of disgusting !

Time to name and shame those sources of yours.

Don't tell me things change, this was always looking the most likely outcome.

The dude verbally agreed to terms with us and then came back with ridiculous requests. So be it. The sources were all on the money the entire time. This wasn't some backroom deal either, Latrell's team were leaking stuff to everybody.
