After all this hogwash over negotiations if Mitchell does end up signing with us in the end would anyone really be confident of his commitment to our team/club? I know I wouldn't, I think if he played reasonably well for a season and got lured by another club he'd be gone at first chance.

Fans reactions to him signing now I think would be tempered somewhat after what has taken place. I think it will be like 'oh ok Mitchell has signed', whereas if he signed earlier without all this baulking and stalling it would've been 'OMG 'we've actually signed Mitchell!! Yay!! ?

I wouldn't, I'd always be thinking he's only here because he had no other real option

He does. He has the option to stick it out with the Roosters in 2020 and take his pick of where he wants to play in 2021.

You could probably say that about our entire 30 man squad

People really need to take a breath. He has a contract for 2020 and has been exploring his options for a few weeks for a contract/club that he will be at for the next 3-4 years at least. Only a small fraction of the articles written about the situation would have facts most are just guesswork.

If you can call playing at a club that has made it quite clear they don't want you there an option.

I like that Lee Hagipantelis has left the door open and said that they'll talk to Latrell and his team but wont approach them. If they come back and want to talk then our negotiation team has the upper hand which would be a good indication that our next offer, if we choose to give him one, would be less than what we originally tabled. That would be good business in my eyes.

With no quality players available and the Storm squashing any thought of JAC going anywhere it sort of leaves us open to hanging. They know we have the money and they know the market for that amount is just not around.

Jai Arrow

All for going for Jai Arrow but realistically getting those players to Sydney is near impossible. I know about the talk about his wife, but all that did was bump up what the Titans will offer to keep him - and Sydney clubs having to top it up even more.

That's virtually what he said, the offer is still there, should his manager come knocking....I'd be surprised Chris if we came back with a lower offer....as a club and an organization I still don't think we have a lot of pull

I seem to remember one of our players did it a few years ago. He can always switch mid season.

You just knew it had to happen

Didn’t Wayde Rushton try to do that with Ponga too? The guy seems to be very bad at his job.

Just needs to become a Pastor and play AFL ...what was his name again ...ahhh yes 14 million reasons why ...that's his name isn't it

Rugby yeah nah this is just another stunt to make it look like he’s got other options at the moment, his manager needs to pull his head in.

I agree. I think it’s either he stays at the roosters or comes to us. Can’t see any other realistic options for him.

Only other possibilities are maybe GC if they offload Arrow but I don’t know the ins and outs of their cap space, and maybe Souths if they get the Burgess money. But I think like you it’s stay put where he is or swallow his pride and come back to the table hopefully at a bit of a discount for being a muppet. I also feel he doesn’t really want to play for us which is why he’s looking everywhere else but, which is a concern.

There is always the option of a trade of sorts
Buldogs Cowboys Titans and South's are all interested in Mitchell
There would also be other clubs interested in Mitchell but quite clearly do have the funds to make an offer
With that said
Which player should we target to gain a release for so they can join the Tigers
We could buy out their contract freeing up funds for that club to sign Mitchell
Arrow is a possibility but I just can't see Mitchell moving to the Gold Coast or Townsville for that matter
I would think he would prefer a Sydney based club to be closer to Family
I think we should go hard for Frizell and Lomax
Let's try to get them both and that should fee up enough money for StGeorge to Sign Mitchell
I think he would be a good fit there
As would Lomax and Frizell at the Tigers
At this point I think these are the type of deals the Tigers should be looking into for 2020
After 2020 we will have a lot more funds to shop with and more time to prepare for a decent assault on the player market
Let's not forget we only received our current $1.7 million in funds late in the piece
We already know what we will have for 2021

400 k of that is gone of Luciano .....

The gold coast would need to shed multiple players even with Arrow as he is still on his original 2017 contract. Cant see it happening unless they can trick clubs to sign multiple bad contacts.

I’d honestly be happy to see him at south’s would make south’s v roosters that much more enjoyable to watch
