Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

Latrell wouldn't sign a one year deal. That's ludicrous. That would ensure he remains in the media circus for the next 6 months or until he signs for 2021 which is the last thing in the world he wants.
He's already fed up with the media unfairly targeting him. Arrow has been taking even longer to make up his mind yet has largely avoided media scrutiny.

What do you do when he doesn't put in for the year that he is here? Refuses to put body on the line etc. and becomes a weakness @ $1m a year?

Exactly Harv - agree with you.

Let's pay a million for what maybe a half hearted guy filling in time.

IMO that is a risk not worth taking. Rather have Thommo (forget Mbye SG).

Well done Buzz. Best way to get read - write a speculative article that relates to two of the most well supported clubs in the NRL. Job done for this week

One year deal - not on your Nellie for mine.

That is just being used to the fullest extent - used to help those mongrels in the Cardinal and Myrtle.

Imagine a sports star using a team. Unheard of. Tigers have about 1.6mil to spend for 2020. Spend it. 2020 with trel at fullback is better than 2020 with Mbye at fullback. Worry about the rest later.

Yeah sounds great
Tigers can be known as the Club to join when you want a **Gap** year
Not the way to go IMO
if Latrell wants a year with us for a Million bucks then he needs to at least sign on for a second year for another Million
We should not allow our club to be used like this
It would be a disaster as it would set a bad precedent for future signings
We should be showing the league community we are not desperate
By agreeing to a one year term it without a doubt shows how desperate we are
Lets not embarras ourselves and walk away if that's all he is after
Now "New smoking gun" are you sure you are the original smoking gun
Because I held you in high regard before this post
I can't believe you would sell our club short and think this would be good for us because that's what it sounds like you are saying
I would rather sign 3 or 4 other non contracted 1st grade players on a 1 year deal who are still looking for a contract and are hungry
Lets face it these players would need to perform for a future contract and would try their guts out
Latrell would see his year with us as a holiday as he would no doubt have another club lined up after his 1 year with us
So IMO it's 2 years minimum or CC for Latrell
Take it or leave it

Why not a 9 year $10,000,000 deal for Latrell
Years 2 to 9 in the clubs favour and accessed at the end of each year
If he plays to the best of his abilities then he is set for life
No more worrying about what's best for his family as he would be set
He can get on with playing football without the worry
This could also work in our favour bigtime
So let's up the anti
We put our money where our mouth is
It Latrell thinks he is that good then he should take it

'New' smoking gun losing credibility real quick with that idea.

I have no inside sources, but let me tell you now - LM at the TIgers for one year will not happen. Scoooooooooooop.

Think what you want. It’s a legitimate option for LM.

You miss the point. It shouldn’t be a legitimate option for us

Do I think a one year deal will happen? No. BUT, it’s not unrealistic. I think the 4 year deal will happen ultimately once buy out agreements are met. Doesn’t mean he will see it out. Then you will all be whinging about that as well.

So do you think he will come to the Tigers or not regardless of the contract years?

Imagine a team being dumb enough to allow a sports star to flagrantly use them and turn them into a laughing stock halfway house.

Would you sign him if it meant tigers became a legit contender? Even if only one season? Or stick with mbye and miss finals again for the next 2 years. It’s a win win for both club and player. It’s unlikely it would be a 1 year deal but to think it’s not beneficial for the club AND player is stupid

He won't be signed for one year because this club - and every other club - knows it would be stupid. It is even more stupid with a player like Latrell Mitchell who would be getting played in a new position. Shall we just take him on and deal with the teething problems of a positional switch so we can help him out for the Rabbitohs and never get the full benefit of him? Genius...

Who signs for a year? Panthers sign players for 4-5 years and then flick them after 2. Didn't hurt Matto to sign a longer term contract and leave after 1 year.

You guys have managed to get yourselves bent out of shape for 2 pages over what the fake smoking gun said about 1 year contract.

I want to know more what he thinks he knows about Reynolds..that was a bold statement

Why would you care if you think he is fake?

Can't wait for the Pascoe Q and A this week. Will be extremely interesting.

Is anyone willing to ask the tough question?

Why are the WestsTigers the least desirable location in the league for marquee recruits?

Ok let me get this straight....Tigers are the least desirable in the league based on the fact that we have only signed Leilua and not bagged a "big fish"?

To all that say "no one will come to us", we we are "undesirable" etc etc, let me assume that if our club had a history of recent success on and off the field, a premiership to our name in the last 5 years, one of THE MOST successful coaches of all time in charge, two filthy rich fairy godmothers supporting us financially whenever we need it with cash and TPA's and a recent gift of $ 1.2M off our salary cap, then we would be less undesirable?

Kinda like Souffs?

Who have they signed?

We've signed Farah and Marshall for 1 year deals before so we've got form in this area. I wouldnt put it past us.

Signing guys in their 30’s to 1 year deals because you want to reassess them at the end of the season and signing a 22 year old whose won premierships and an incumbent Kangeroo is apples and oranges.
