@Newtown Not sure what you know but my gut say LM will drag this out to give Souths more time to create the funds... Rooster will release him regardless if it souths our not but the big concern is they have alot of indigenous Players / Ex players and that would be a big factor for him i would think.. Not to mention Wayne and the unlimited TPA funds they would have to give him and his family.. I just don't feel good about this at all for some reason..

I thought he meant Jai Arrows partner indicated they were looking at south's? Not talking about Mitchell

Roosters know he wants to have a look at Souths. Imo they are saying sign with tigers or you play reserves.

Pretty slack of them to do that I reckon. If they really don’t want him at the club anymore then he should be able to go and play where he wants to play, not force him to sign somewhere else. It doesn’t help anyone.

Would have loved loved loved our club to dig and refuse to release Matterson to the Eels. it was obvious that was his intention.

I can't see Latrell signing with anyone else. Like others have said it's a one horse race, no other clubs have the space to sign him.

Pretty confident he will sign within the next week or so.

If this starts to turn into a circus we need to pull our offer off the table.

The club is in a better position than us to know if it Its a circus or not. There’s no indication that it is, except for a few disgruntled supporters who don’t know the meaning of the word patience.

I meant more the media following it's getting and the reports today of Latrell playing reserve grade. We need to take a stand and give make sure Latrell actually wants to play for us.

That's correct it was Jai arrow's partner I was referring to. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Like everyone I’m trying to curb my enthusiasm. I’d love an early announcement either way but also realise that Mitchell is under no pressure to hurry.

One consideration though is the fact that since Nov 1 Roosters are paying him foR this year. So there is incentive for LM to drag it out and incentive for Roosters to hurry up.

If Tigers are promising $800k for 2020 and he is on $450k at roosters, every week he drags it out is $8600 in his pocket.

I can see Roosters trying to push it to a conclusion

Its the other way isn't it. Definitely roosters don't want to be paying him. But he is losing money by not coming to tigers immediately.


He is contracted to the Roosters, its after 01/11/19. He is getting paid by the Roosters and every week that goes on is another week on their payroll

That's correct and as you pointed out that is $8600 per week. If he was being paid by wests at 800k a season he would be on $15400 a week - so why would he draw out his time at easts.

That's correct it was Jai arrow's partner I was referring to. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

That makes sense, I imagine a link with Rusty would prove to be very beneficial to an aspiring model.

Yeah I see your point, it’s very much up for debate I suppose. I’m of the opinion that hanging onto to someone who doesn’t want to be here is just cause for friction and disharmony within the team, which could ultimately derail the whole season. As much as I would’ve liked to have kept Matterson, I think the club made the right decision to release him as his position here and relationship with the rest of the team was completely destroyed because of his behaviour.

I’d much rather have a unified team, who want to play for the club and for each other rather than a team carrying a disgruntled player who could create all sorts of drama. I don’t think the club wanted another situation like that of Moses, so they let Matterson walk so they could move forward.

That tells half the story. Supposedly Nofo had the 2nd fastest speed, but when you are (like Latrell) 100+kg at that speed with great upper body strength, thats a hard pakage to defend against. The challenge for Latrell, no matter where he plays is to maintain his pace, weight and strength.

Im all for releasing said player, just not to the club he is obviously screwing you to to try and join.
