Great to see Brooks going well. The forwards holding their own gives him something to play behind.

Although it was against a struggling dragons it’s interesting how good our backline looks when our pack makes meters. We looked faster and sharper.

Brooks was good tonight overall. He’s improved in a big way this year. Not sure the stats but he’s way more decisive.

His short kicking game and decision making are both back, we’re scoring points and building pressure. Also makes his tackles. Hope he keeps it going .

Cleaned up a few missed tackles as well

Big game for him against an under strength Penrith at Leichhardt. Could make or break his Tigers career IMO. Penrith will still be strong.

Lol won’t be a make or break for his career...

Brooks defence has to be one of the best in the NRL for halves and he works his butt off.
He is not perfect but he doesn’t deserve to be hammered every week.
Just my thoughts.

This, we’ve all had our say on Brooksy.

But this year although his delivered some less than effective games, mostly at the beginning of the season, you can’t knock him for delivering on what was quoted above.^

Most noticeable is his attitude to the game has finally done a 180. It’s been that way ever since Madge benched him last year. His playing like he wants to have a say in the result. Stuffing up opportunities or making great plays. It’s a long way from what we used to see a couple of years back where he would sit on the left edge and react if the ball happened to come his way, never coming into the middle of the field.
I believe his attitude has turned, his matured and through the hard work that his done to reform his game it’s clear to see his getting a lot better at executing the plays.
Someone mentioned his just now making the right decisions, we’ll whilst that might be the case it’s also a case of having more options are being made available to him.
His game really hasn’t changed since the start of the year but he has improved with his execution and delivery and the team is benefiting from having more quality ball in possession.
Liddle also. Both are in a similar boat. All effort from the start and they haven’t wavered from that. As a result they are starting to get into some good form.

I think Brooks has gone to the right level of the hype around him this year,a year I said would make or break him...
I dont care how many on here mock me but its great to see a ball distributing playmaker beside Luke that lets him play his natural game and not choke or overcall him....Madge knew what he was doing letting Benji the icon go....

The other big part of Brooks' recent improvement is Liddle coming back into 9 and actually playing to his ability. In the last 3 games the first pass from dummy half (when we're going to the 7 rather than just to a short forward) has been a much longer, and deeper pass that at the start of the season.
That's moving the point of attack wider and deeper and giving Brooks more time and space.
It's working well for everyone.

It didn't make sense that Liddle had forgotten how to pass over an off season. I'm almost certain that he bulked up too quickly and he wasn't flexible enough. Madge and co. realised this, and put him in reserve grade until he fixed his body.

This is my theory at least. Liddle is playing well. It's great to see. I'm really happy for him.

MOM game from Brooksie last night and he has been going really well for the last 3 weeks.

Really intense hits in defense and his running and kicking is where it needs to be.

Going great atm!!

3 great games from Luke again. I think the reason behind this form shift is a case of a few things.
1. Other players playing better.
2. Change in tactics.
3. We shift the ball more
4. Have more depth
5. We have more playmaking options:
-- Douiehi becomes a playmaker when his winger or second rower get tackled near the sideline. Sometimes he becomes the third receiver and Luciano goes to centre.
-- Brooks goes anywhere. He is predominantly at first receiver, but occasionally one of the others will go to first receiver if he feels like having an option to run the ball or put his second rower in space.
-- Laurie becomes first receiver on the left when Mbye and Brooks are on the right.
-- Mbye doesn't get in the way of Brooks. Mbye goes short side if the numbers stack up. Otherwise Doueihi is an option on the short side just in case.

I really think that how we have arranged our playmakers and structuring at what times they should enter the game has made a world of difference.

I want to note that Daine Laurie is special and we are lucky to have him. He is very good on the left. Still needs to develop his game playing left to right. I think this is why Mbye is great for the team, as he can play second receiver on that side, then you can have Doueihi as third receiver. This way you don't have to ask Laurie to do something he's not yet ready to do.

tl;dr we have more playmakers in better structures.

Read every word and couldn’t agree more.

That is a quality summary, you’ve got a great understanding of the game.

I think the unsung change for Brooks has been mbye moving to 6.
Mbyes sweeping runs behind Luke are allowing him to dig into the line, and hold inside defenders giving more space to the men outside. Doeuihi is just a step too slow to pair with Brooks at the moment. I'm not the biggest fan of moving Laurie from the 1 spot but if Mbye does leave soon i would move Doeuihi to 1 and Laurie to six as I think that would be a better outcome for Brooks and the team.
Happy the bloke is finding some form

A huge no to Doueihi at fullback

He’s been going ok all season and the years before. He had one bad year .. 2020, but it was a year of turmoil and constant change. What has changed? Well, for a start the media and the fans are not riding him as much. The fans want him to throw the winning flick pass to get a pass mark.
It’s an interesting phenomenon, I watched the Warriors game to focus for the first time on Walsh because of all the media attention he’s getting. I thought his overall game was poor, he made more blunders than our Talau and Nofa combined, but the callers didn’t see it that way. Expectation bias? I’m probably not a good judge, but I have an opinion. 😀

Brooks spoke well in post game (on field) interview. He looked comfortable within himself.

He really just needed that break out game (v knights) to kick start his year. I didn’t think he played that badly prior to that game, but he seems to be growing from strength to strength ever since. His confidence is beeming

Credit where credit is due. Brooks had a good game.. kicking game was good and attack looked organised. It's all about consistency now and if he can step up against the big teams when our go forward is under pressure.....

Mine is that Robbie got him trying new aspects to his dummy half play, looking to add to his deceptiveness and engaging markers, that sort of thing.
He seems to confirm this in Robbie's recent interview.
Either way, Liddle looks to have found a good balance with his game now, and Brooks just seems to go better with Jacob there?

Yes, there was one really big effort from Mbye last night, sprinting from our right side to get on Brooks left shoulder, nice move.
But it's a no from me with moving Laurie from the 1.

I’ve been impressed with his last 3 games.

Question is can we see this Brooks with Doueihi at 6, Mbye is not the answer.

Mbye had over 30 tackles tonight

He did, but that also included his stint at hooker, with Doueihi at six whilst Liddle was off for his HIA.

The way he froze the Saints defence with his eyes for Roberts' try and the bullet from dummy half just in front of Laurie that allowed the quick hands for Talau's try were things of beauty.
Liddle needs to be re- signed urgently.
