You are going to be waiting a long time no one better wants to come just have a look at some of the names we’ve missed out on

Then we wait. Buying unsuitable players won't get us out of a hole. We're punching with one arm behind our back until the COE is built (or at least properly underway) but I believe we'll eventually have the infrastructure to attract better quality cattle.

What will be the next excuse , when it's built?

Car park was full
Pool was too cold
No clean towels
Drinks machine was broken

Big name players aren't coming here because we've been a basketcase of a club for near a decade, not our coach's methods.
We're a club who has lost some of their most talented juniors due to recruitment blunders or their impatience of not playing finals footy. Plus we have a penchance for sacking coaches.
No offence but we'd have to be considered one of the least desirable club for coaches and players alike.

Conversely I expect that there will be a barrage of potential coaches knocking hard on the door when the position is available in the coming weeks.

But what quality ?

From the best to worst available, each and every one of them.

Maybe. A smart one wouldn't apply

Not heavy enough

We have an average squad with sprinkling of quality youth here and there. Majority of players are plodders and just plain rubbish. We need to accept facts and reality. Sterlo is a smart footy brain he didn't have us picked for the spoon start of the year as a joke. He knew we were a rabble before season started.

My view on Madge was always he would be the coach that got rid of all the loafers and built a hardened roster where someone else would come in and recruit players to get them firing. His tactics have a use by date but for me now is not the time.

Madge is basically being done over like Dean Pay.

You think he’s definitely gone TYGA?

I hope not. It makes zero sense. Roster is a bottom half of the table squad. Changing coach is the dumbest thing I have heard in years.
I feel it’s a cop out from management and fans that don’t want to admit reality the squad is poor. Some feel changing the coach gives hope I don’t see it that way.

As others and I have said he has assembled 90% of the squad so if it’s a poor squad and he can’t get anything out of players he brought in who’s fault is it .Keeping this coach gives no hope

To tell the truth ,if Madge gets sacked I can guarantee this club will be in whole world of hurt for the next 3/5 years with no FINALS appearance...
coaches, players ,admin will all give the place a wide bearth...you reckon we cant attract marquee signings, see how we end up after sacking a premiership coach who has tried to cleanup a rabble that it has been for years...

Not sure how you can possibly think he’s done a good job. He’s taken a pretty ordinary team and made them
worse. He’s failed.

Thus far, certainly.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has spoken following reports of a crisis meeting about his future at the club.

Under siege Michael Maguire has vowed to fight on as head coach of the Wests Tigers despite another shocking capitulation on Sunday to the Manly Sea Eagles.
Reports emerged on Sunday night that the Kiwi Test coach was seriously under the pump and that the Wests Tigers board would hold a crisis meeting to discuss his future.

This was strongly denied by the club’s chairman Lee Hagipantelis.

Maguire later spoke to The Daily Telegraph about his determination to continue.

“It’s a noise that’s been created off the back of our performance,” Maguire said.

“I’m not worried (about the speculation). We’re solid on what we’re trying to do here, that’s what I’m focused on.

“I’ve been around long enough to know what we’ve got to do.”

At the same time Hagipantelis would not guarantee Maguire’s future for the remainder of the season, despite the fact the coach recently signed a two-year extension.

“I can’t guarantee that the sun will come up tomorrow,” Hagipantelis said.

“After 33 years as a lawyer the word ‘guarantee’ has never fallen out of my lips.

“You can’t guarantee anything. Still, I’m not saying his job is on the line.”

However the chairman said he was shocked by reports the Wests Tigers were on the verge of holding a crisis meeting to axe the coach.

His contract was recently extended for two years but there is a performance clause in the deal.

“There’s no crisis meeting and there’s no suggestion at all we’re terminating the coach,” Hagipantelis said.

“I spoke to all our directors at the ground. There was no talk of any meetings about Madge. It’s not happening. We’re all disappointed of course, but we’ll take a deep breath and start again.

“We’re grossly disappointed with the result but we won’t panic.”

Another director Simon Cook said: “I know nothing about a crisis meeting,” when contacted by The Daily Telegraph.

The club later released the following statement: “Contrary to a media report in the Sydney Morning Herald, Wests Tigers can vehemently deny there are crisis meetings being held at the club.

“Whilst disappointed with recent results, all at Wests Tigers remain firmly united and committed to producing a strong and competitive season together, and ready to get back to work tomorrow (Monday) in preparation for Round 8.”

Maguire must however consider sweeping changes to his side with now the time to reward the reserve grade side who are flying high near the top of the table.

“We have a strong group underneath coming through and I’ve got some really good performers there, but I’ll make the right calls on what I see being right moving forward,” Maguire said.

The Wests Tigers are 14th on the ladder (equal last) after just one win from seven starts.

The Tigers have conceded 218 points to start the season, the most in the NRL this season and the most in the club’s history after seven matches.

Former international James Graham conceded the effort in defence was concerning.

“The warning signs were there pretty early,” Graham told Fox League.

“The early break from Morgan Harper... worrying signs from early on and Wests Tigers are going to have to fix up their defence.”

Was the sack coach thread this civil in the Potter and JT days?

Were either of those 2 really that bad in comparison?

I think potter and JT were not as bad as this year to be honest with you. We sacked both of them

Taylor used to cop it about the defence. Nothings changed

You sure, as pretty well everything points to it being worse.

Did Lee just say that the word guarantee has never passed his lips in 33 years while saying the word guarantee three times in the same sentence?

Reserve grade side should be left alone.

They can’t be held as another excuse for McGuire..

Gonna need a bigger shovel Madge!

Trying to sum up my opinions I am on the fence.

Madge is dealing with a poor roster and young players. We do not have 2 first grade standard back rowers, centres or wingers. Then again, the players we do have there have all been signed or extended by the current leadership.

Some of the selections have been questionable at best and chopping and changing suggests no long term vision.

The bench rotation has been poor.

Line speed and commitment has been poor. That doesn’t rely on skill and experience, that is down to attitude.

A good coach will understand what they have at their disposal and adapt their game plan to that. Madge seems to have a game plan that he expects the players to adapt to.

I am happy to give him most of the season. Look at what is available and make a decision towards the end of the year.

I have been saying that for around 12 months lol I see madge as someone that can't adapt to his squad but needs his squad to adapt to him.

That then also makes me worried as the game as changed a lot since he was successful and it appears he is unable to adapt to the changes in the game.
