Maguire Signs Until End of 2023

I think regardless if we make the 8 or not, he provides everything(including the stabilty) we've craved.

Madge is the only coach we've had who has capably addressed the core issues of this team.
He's implemented standards to enhance player performance and individual development.
Has applied strategic game planning that only builds teamwork and trust.
He's basically doing everything that changes the DNA of a team.

I. certainly agree that Madge is a transformational coach but I am not convinced he is the guy who can take us to another premiership. I acknowledge he had success at the Bunnies but Like players, all coaches have their strengths. I think Madge can instill a much needed change of culture but whether he can put the polish on us to make us a real premiership threat Is yet to be seen.

I’d Sign him now to an extension. Give him another year maybe two and see what happen.

I'm not a fan of Maguire...havent seen enough improvement in his time here to extend him yet...problem is there's a distinct lack of quality coaches avaliable so unfortunately we're stuck with him

I mean, we could have Dean pay...paul green Stephen Kearney take your pick

Do u think any of these coaches could do at least half of what madge is doing

Madge obviously needs to remain accountable, but he is the first coach we've had in a while that actually seems to have a clue and previous results to back it up. Bellamy and Robinson wont come here, Barrett has done nothing to suggest he's a good coach, Brown has had his problems, Toovey is ok but way too nuts. So whoever thinks Madge can't help us win a GF, offer a valid option, I don't think you'll find one.

Tooves is my kind of nuts...

If we didn't have MaGuire he'd be my choice..

Surprised teams don’t look at him. Made finals almost every single year at manly. I reckon he would still be a good coach for a team that needs some toughness and fire in their game.

I also want him back so we can see more of his press conferences

Madge is a great coach hope the club sticks with him long term. The growth of players under him is obvious. The issue with Madge is how long a team can stay up physically after years of his tough methods. I’d extend him at the end of the season I’ve seen enough now not many coaches have us competing this hard with the current roster.

Hopefully the head of performance guy we have in this year can help with that. Apparently that’s why they brought him in to handle more of the physical work and make sure the players aren’t too over worked

That is smart management. Draw on Maguire’s strengths but compensate for his weaknesses. Great to hear this.

His name is Andrew Gray and he’s meant to be very good. Heard a few players talk about him in pre season. Read an article about the club bringing him in to help with the training and performance of players.

A couple of these experts have named The Tigers as a dark horse for the premiership,if they make the top 8 can this team upset some of the heavyweights, grow in confidence and go all the way?

I think Toovs inherited a pretty handy roster if I remember correctly? Maguire is still trying to build one...

thank our lucky stars we don't have Barrett.....

He has the second worst roster in the league yet has us in and around the eight. Extend him for two years and let him have full control of the club

I wonder what people's views would be if we were to falter and finish 14th this year..

Nothing a tough Madge off-season can't fix

You could run many hypothetical scenarios. What if we finish Top 4 and someone offers madge a higher salary (we're not exactly cashed-up)? Or what if Bellamy decides he wants to suddenly coach the Tigers?

The question is... what do we want to achieve? Is there someone else who can achieve that other than madge?

Even without the premiership in the closet, I see the team more mentally tough, matching with the heavyweights, building a great base of juniors & unified in the direction. For me, that stability and growth is what we need to be looking at. The premiership comes off the back of it. Changing will not bring the trophy faster unless it's a Robinson or Bellamy.

Madge has done this with our 3 highest-paid players being selected by the previous coach who are offering a questionable return on investment.

In my mind, we should time this right. It might be a beautiful little boost as we need it when we hit that run of tougher teams. If we get through the next 3 games with wins - he has to be signed.

This .. I want to see some on field success not much to ask . Then talk upgrade !

I see us coming home with a wet sail. We resemble a football team for the first time in years on a consistent basis. Our run has more trip wires than a Vietnamese Jungle but we are building. We can’t afford a new coach we have to stay patient. Madge has been here two years we can’t get caught up in the previous years of poor results.

Jury is still in deliberations this end and needs clarification that should be forthcoming in the coming couple of months.

Yes as we need stability and a coach that demands success. With the lack of decent coaches on the market we can't be complacent. Maguire has us heading in the right direction and seems committed to the end goal
