Incredible to think he was only offered $550k for 2017 while Brooks and Moses 2 x reserve graders atm will earn or rather be paid $600k.

What a joke.
None of the young forwards will rise to his level.

Where is it printed that they'll be on $600k? I've only ever seen that assumed on here. They'll be paid that for their new deals, but for next season? Surely not.

If you want to check back through the Robbir Farah thread( good luck)
It was in an interview with Go , I think it was the same one that she was saying that we wouldn't be buying anyone for three years.it was reported as them having an option in their favour.
I think it's for 2017

The worse thing about it is that he is just another in a **long line of decent players who** do not want to be here! W

**Seriously**….please list the **_long list_** of players that do not want to be here? I'm serious.

Take your pick from most first real grade players, seriously, would you want to come here if you had real talent and weren't desperate. I'm not talking about our juniors. Who in some cases have been supporters for most of their lives.
But good players from other clubs. We are becoming the last resort for most of them

Other than Blair I cant think of a real good first grader from another club that we have signed in years. We seem to pick up those who cant get a run in first grade or those at the end of their career looking for a few extra dollars. Anyone????

Please explain the difference between now and in 2006 when we were the premiers…
We have NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER been a destination for anyone decent. We got a Pom that was untested at NRL - And an over the hill winger from union that had one good year left in him.

They're the only players of any value we have signed since the merger... The rest were also rans that came good, Or didn't....

To be fair, Adam Blair was a marquee signing, regardless of his level of play when here.

And this club has been well acknowledged for bringing the young players through the ranks.

It's not like the club has had to sign marquee players to fill it's roster. The club has always decided, since Sheens was here, to try & promote the youth in the club first.

Not all clubs are called Manly..

True… Blair was a big name signing.
Hodgson was before we won the comp.

So.....
We've signed 3 big name players to the club in more than 10 years, And only a fistful in the 5 before that!!
Big names to the Tigers is not a done thing, Not now, not before, not ever really....
Yet, It's still "someones'" fault....

Do we sign marquee players, not usually. We're a developing club who grows our own players because we can. Our juniors are one advantage we have. The Roosters, Manly, Storm and many other clubs can't grow their own players so they buy others'.

Taupau was very disappointing this year. If it's true he wanted out from Round 1 then that explains why he was playing like crap for 90% of the season. He's a show-pony really. Makes some highlight reel plays, then does nothing.

As for his replacement, it's Billy McConnachie. He's a very similar player, it's just that most fans don't know anything about him. Perhaps a bit less impact/show, but more work ethic and more minutes. And a fraction of the price. Yes it's been at a lower level than NRL thus far, but when you play hard as nails at a hundred miles an hour he's not simply going to turn into Buchanan once he arrives here.

He's perhaps a merge of Taupau/Gavet and someone like Sue. And on minimum wage to prove himself (and then hopefully extend) i'm happy to do that for next season.

Marty Taupaus contract should have been extended after his first game at WT in 2014\. It was pretty clear straight away that he was special…Always wondered why it took them so long

I've seen a lot of over the top comments on the forum the last few weeks, but this nearly takes the cake. Who extends a players contract 1 game into a 3 yr deal.

Hahaha I was joking. I'm glad he's gone

Hodgson was a pretty big signing at the time.

I wouldn't say that. He'd played reserves at times for Parra in 2003, plus injury, and only managed 10 games. More of a good speculator signing.

Blair was among the best two props in the game when he came here, but his form bopped off alarmingly for most of his time here.
Back to almost his best at the Broncos

We'll have to throw the bank at anyone good that we want. Especially now with the way we are being run

Problem is that we are not banging down the door in the top four very often, with the way we do it ,so the junior policy isn't exactly setting the world on fire either.

Funny how Bellamy never signed a marque player, Storm must be in awful financial situation
On the other hand, marque players do not want to play for Ballamy
Go figure.

A fair few seem to leave as Marquee players though

on talking sport today peter tunks was saying that the tigers had been shopping taupau for some time.

he said that they wanted a swap with nuassalla form canberra but taupau didnt want to live in canberra.

i know all clubs do this shopping players around thing , but there seems to be no logic in why the management did this.

why would he want to stay with a club who want to offload him?

whos next?
lets get rid of our other origin player- aaron woods.

what a fiasco!

I think there is more to the story than we'll ever know…

Perhaps Mr #Hashtag bought into his own hype, a lot of people in the media hyping him up... pumping his ego. "You're the man! Why do you play for those LOSERS?"

No one is bigger than the team.
Flavour of the month with his handful of good peformances can eat up some other teams cap with his inconsistency and over inflated value of self worth.

"I wanna play in the NFL!"
Good luck champ, you're a nobody in the US and we'll be a few penalties less each game with you gone.
P.S - Learn to hold onto the ball.

From what I understand this was after he'd turned down our contract offer, so we were trying to get a body in for 2016 in his stead.
