To those who are saying Brooks could be the one to make way, i ask, who would play halfback?

Does it matter, Brooks has had 4 years to stand up, he hasn't, he would have been punted from every other club.
But for the record, Moylan, Tui, Benji or even Gamble could do the job as good or better than Brooks, I am so tired of the excuses for this bloke, plus now he looks like he has dodgy hammies.

Im not making excuses for him, but none of the options you named are halfbacks. Maybe Gamble is, but he's unproven. You don't replace him if there aren't better options, and none of those are.

Why, Brooks has failed to deliver in 4 seasons, how many more seasons do you let him bugger around before you punt him, or at least drop him, these other guys will do exactly what Brooks is doing only better.

A definate NO, the club has done an exceptional job at recruiting the players they have not only talent wise but also with their character & personal traits, the club is going through a huge culture shift, Moylen signing would take the wheels of the bus. The club needs to stay away from Moylen & his personal issues.

Well Gus says he has personal issues. Ivan says he rates him as a player and a person. Maybe it's all mind games. All I know is that Moylan is a very good player.

Ivan is planting the seed in Moylan's mind that a start with a new club with a coach who has a high regard for him is an option.

I can't ever imagine a scenario where one of the team's best players is sidelined from the finals and the possibility of a grand final appearance. This has all been scripted as though it is Moylan's problem. Is it that the problem is much more serious?

I WILL GIVE BROOKS 6 GAMES NEXT YEAR TO STAND UP, BEHIND ABETTER PACK, IF HE FAIL THEN HE SHOULD BE PLAYING ISP CUP. sorry for caps.

You're missing the point. Its a childish suggestion to claim anyone would do a better job, because it isn't true, regardless of how bad he is. None of the players you are suggesting are halfbacks.

And you are missing the point, it is insanity to do the same thing over and over again and hope for a different result, no wonder you loved JT

And now we get people who don't rate Moylan as a player? :unamused:
From some of the things you read he seems unlikeable (and seeing I've never met him I suppose I shouldn't be judgemental) but you cannot deny the guy is a tremendous talent.
If we can get him….sign him up.

Its beyond baffling isnt it. Moylan is the type of player that when the big game is on the line he takes it upon himself to own the result. These players are very few and far between and take a side from being a top 8 contender to being a premiership contender. He is the final piece of the puzzle. We currently have no player next year besides possibly Benji who has this attribute.

Agreed. Moylan would win us more games then Teddy ever did.

Because we have no else. None of your other options are halfbacks. We're stuck with him for 2 more years. Like it or lump it.

Just goes to show why the Forum is a great place to air ones opinion…
For mine -I can't see how anyone at this point in time can make the statement that Tui is a better fullback than Moylan! I'd have Moylan in our squad in a heartbeat, especially under Ivan.
Also in my view Brooks hasn't performed so badly under the circumstances that he has faced (injury, past roster, game plans, coaching, lack of support etc). I maintain that the performance of a half is very dependent upon the performance of his forwards, his DH, his 5/8 and a bunch of other factors. Take a look at Moses in the EEls squad. Look at the performance of guys like Ben Hunt and Milford when the Broncos forwards aren't dominating - Mbye and Reynolds at the Dogs. Even look at the difference in Widdop from last year to this year when the Dragons forwards started to get on a roll and lately since they have dropped off.

Plenty of grumblings here and we have another six months to go. Ivan has built a good squad and if he can get Moylan then I reckon with his coaching we will be a contender for a top 4 finish.

As a supporter I trust Ivan.

There's a guy wearing 7 for the Broncos on Friday night in a semi final who is signed with us for next year .

People rolled their eyes when he signed for the Broncos but there he is & we haven't played a semi final since he left either .

Just sayin' …

In the off chance that Moylan did come to the Tigers, does anyone see Brooks making a transition to hooker. Many Half backs have done it in the past.

Guys like Toovey & Johns made the transition to hooker successfully at the highest levels, because they had sound defensive skills to start with.

I don't like the idea of Brooks defending at hooker, and being forced to make 40 + tackles per game around the middle of the field.

I personally like the idea of Reynolds playing at Hooker though, if we had to make way for someone like Moylan in the halves. It suits his game perfectly.

He's playing halfback in a semi final because half their spine is injured and Bennett has no other options. Lets tell the whole story. He's their 3rd string no 7\. He's not a halfback, nor has he ever been one.

100% with you here Abe - Reynolds has all the attributes for a good DH - he passes well, can kick, is tough and determined, will have a run, will defend strongly - perhaps the only issue might be his regular brain snaps when he is operating at the coalface in the middle.

Exactly, better league minds than GNR like Sheens, McGregor and Bennett think Benji can cut it as a 7, in fact like you say Bennett the supposed guru is trotting Benji out in a qualifying final tomorrow night as starting halfback.
We at least have to try different options at 7, because Brooks after 4 years and 82 games is still not cutting it, look at how Eiso, Twal, Suli and the like excelled this year because they were given a go.
As for Moylan, 1 or 7 for us next year would be a great result, onwards and upwards from now on, no more wheel spinning and sliding backwards with poor players playing every week.

100% correct. Benji is not a halfback, his whole game is stifled.
