Moylan isn't coming. The jury is out on Cleary.

Yet you are happy with Brooks who has played twice as many games as Cleary and shown way less

I see now JT is gone, Brooks has become your new punching bag.

JT desrved all the crap, and Brooks has had over 80 NRL games and still can't manage a repeat set, he has had a charmed run and deserves to start in reggies.
No other team gives a player 90 odd games to come good, I wish Brooks would come good, but he has used up his excuses and deserves to at least be dropped.
We have options now so dropping him will be easy, and may just wake him up, even Gus said that boy needs to sit down in the off season and decide if he wants to be an NRL player.
I bagged JT because he was holding us back, Brooks is now holding us back, I just want a top 8 team to support, and Brooks is a big reason why we are not.

He is no better than Cleary, yet everybody loves Cleary and he is a God to some and Brooks is the most hated Wests Tigers player by our forum members

Sorry mate can't agree, if it was a choice of Brooks or Cleary it is Cleary by a big margin

Not much between them, Cleary probably has the edge.

But take into consideration Cleary has been playing in a top 8 side and Brooks has been playing in the side that finished 14th.

Nathan Cleary has been coached and mentored by his dad which has probably made him into the player he is, Brooks has only had the services of Cleary for a few months.

Cleary is 19 and played 49 games Brooks is 22 and played 82 games. Cleary is so highly rated on talent but also maturity at such a young age. It's not even close.
I think Brooks can be really good and we won't sign Cleary so there is no point comparing.

Interesting that nobody recognises the one thing that NC brings to the table of the complete package …he KICKS you into the FINALS ...there is no comparison between him and Brooks it is a clear case of NC .

Cleary is better than Brooks but it's mostly on his goal kicking. Brooks isn't that far off Cleary and he may come good.

I think Brooks is worth persisting with and I like that we have Benji here next year to replace Reynolds or Brooks. I honestly think Reynolds is more of a concern than Brooks on a 4 year deal on more money.

Cleary has been playing in a pretty good Penrith side from day one, Brooks has been playing in a struggling Tigers side. So to me pretty hard to make any conclusive judgment. Next year we should get a much better idea

Whether we like it or not Brooks is going to be our halfback in 2018\. I think we would all love Brooks to suddenly blossom and make these tough years worth the investment and sacrifice. Like many, I am VERY skeptical and if he doesn't perform then surely, after 5 years, there can be absolutely no more excuses. Can we all agree on that?

Give Brooks a decent forward pack and he will be alright - is he the next Johns? No. Cleary COULD be the games next superstar and if the opportunity presents we'd be crazy not to try and get him.

Brooks short kicking game has nothing to do with the forwards. Bloody hell an unddr tens player could get a repeat set more often than brooks.

This is the problem .. yes 50% of the game a half relies on his forwards it is the other 50% that is the issue with Brooks plain and simple he has had long enough to prove himself. Next season is the make or break year for him IMO.

Did you see Moses kicking game again the Cows. Far worse than Brooks, kicked it dead when they were on the attack so many time.
Morgan brought the game home.
All halves don't get it right 100% of the time but Cleary seems to have good control.

Exactly. Moses kicking game was terrible. It was worse than some of Brooks efforts in an important game. All halves also make mistakes.

Brooks needs to improve but at the moment he is copping it a little unfairly.

Those stats really don't say much. Tackle efficiency? Repeat sets? Forced errors onto team mates? Game management?

Going off those sort of stats alone, back in 2016 Brooks was the 4th best halfback kin the game, yet somehow he wasn't…

You have lost it - the people that are saying that a forward pack, do not influence a half and his kicking game. If they are getting toweled, the half is on the back foot nearly the whole game when he is putting in his kick.

It is clear that Brooks is the new whipping boy in the absence of JT, Lovett, Rankin, Littlejohn, Moses, Edwards and part timers MCK, Rowdy and Kev. He has a lot to look forward to on here.

With a decent pack in front of him, going forward, an experienced half with him, a full preseason behind him and Ivan Cleary steering him in the right direction (hasn't done a bad job with Nathan) I am expecting a huge improvement in his short and long kicking game. His running to the line, passing and defence have already improved considerably. He is still only 22 years old.

Comparing him to Cleary is totally unfair - Cleary could be anything - we'll see as his career unfolds.

It is as unfair as comparing Cleary with Cronk or Thurston imo.

Looks like Moylan is off to the Sea Eagles….

I'm glad we wont be signing him as we have a spine of Tui, Reynolds, Brooks, and Liddle...there is no room for Moylan...if we hadn't signed Reynolds, then yes, but to waste $700k+ for Moylan given the money we outlayed for Reynolds....no thanks...I think one of out 2 remaining spots on the bus should go to a bustling second rower and a good finishing winger(Rona?)....
