ARLC, so is that what the NRL are doing? Or is it the same thing for all intensive purposes?

Time to start doing double wrestling training otherwise we will be even more behind teams like roosters and storm.

I dunno, Unca Nick accused the NRL of messing with the integrity of the game if they introduce 1 ref and Mumps Robinson was on NRL Live or whatever that tripe is called saying "our product is great, let's stick with what works".
The rort has worked back-to-back, please don't change it💩. Bugger them, change is as good as a holiday.

Just about every coach and player is saying there’ll be more wrestle with one ref

Especially the ones that have mastered the wrestle. Its like they have an alterior motive.

So all the coaches and players from teams who aren’t good at the wrestle, what’s their excuse? There’s very few teams who have it mastered. Gonna be a slower, dirtier game with one ref. Choke holds, elbows to the ribs and cheeky punches galore

Only if the refs allow it. They have a whistle .

IMO the 6 again rule is pointless. If anything it will encourage the wrestle. Would you rather give away 6 again or a shot at goal or field position by a kick down field? I'm supportive of the one ref, but I think the 6 again rule is short sighted and doesn't provide much incentive to eliminate the wrestle from the game. Watch Melbourne closely through the first few rounds back, they'll be the one to crack it first.

Hello..repeat offenders ...Sin Bin..even if it ends up 13 0n 6,,

Grow some balls Checcin..

Watch it stop...

I'd be surpised if they took away the penalty option from the ref.

Correct, they wont give a team 36 tackles in a row and not go the sin bin way.

There isn't a lot of clarity around that is there? It'll weigh heavily on discretion, which will bring up questions around consistency and fairness. Either way I can't see it going well.

Highly unlikely Checchin grows balls. But yes, sin bin upon sin bin until the dullards learn. It won't happen though, by Round 5 the players will be calling the shots again unfortunately.

nah, not much clarity yet so I'm surprised people want to poo poo it already. A bit of VLandy bashing maybe,
All I know is that 2 refs didnt improve the wrestle, or any part of the game for that matter, so why persist?
And theres always consistency issues no matter which way you go. Nothing worse then one ref keeping a tight 10 metres and the other being a lot looser.

I actually don't agree at all, I think there is merit in this. It stops the ruck infringement from being a massive penalty when very many cases ruck penalties are 50/50 or a referee's opinion. Compared to kicking out on full or being in side 10 or making contact with head - where either you did or you didn't.

It provides a gradient for penalties, in the same way that scrum differentials prevents goal kicks for stupid scrum penalties and 10 mins sin bin is an alternative to being sent off. In fact IMO they should re-introduce the 5 min sin bin for minor infringements, because 10 mins sin bin is sometimes excessive in the modern game.

What interests me very much outside of this particular rule is the manner in which PVL seems to be dictating policy to the NRL, compared to his predecessors. Normally the ARLC sets targets / goals for the NRL to implement; I don't believe ARLC has been in the habit of setting rule changes or game modifications over the top of the NRL hierarchy. PVL has now pulled the strings on 3 major changes without specific ratification by the NRL rule bodies - captains challenge, single ref and 6-again ruck.

PVL might not want to be NRL CEO, so he says in public, but he is basically behaving that way at the moment.

Personally think one ref is a good idea. But what is Th e purpose? I thought it was to save money but news is no ref will lose their job. So...what’s the point?
My take is you could have 10 refs out there - unless they improve the standard of refereeing, particularly in relation to taking charge, nothing will change.

And for the millionth time, that has never stopped players before even with 200 penalties a game. Having only one ref who’s ten metres away from the ruck will make it even harder to stop those niggly things

You don't have to be right on to of the play the ball to see players not getting off quick enough. 6 to go will help not having 200 penalties aswell.
