Emotional Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah opens up about NSW Blues award

The irony for winning an award based on team culture was not lost on Robbie Farah.

Weeks after being told he can leave Wests Tigers because he did not fit into the club's culture, Farah walked away with NSW's True Blue award on Monday night, which is given to the player who displayed qualities on which the Blues' culture is built.
\
\
An emotional Farah praised Blues coach Laurie Daley who presented the Blues vice-captain with the award. "The opinion of Laurie Daley is one that is well respected and means a lot to me," Daley said. "I like his opinion. He's a good guy. He has shown me great support. He was there when I needed him and he is a coach you want to go out there and do whatever you can for. You run through a brick wall for him.

"The boys love him. I love him. I would do anything for him. He has come out in the last month and supported me when he didn't really have to. For him to do that means the world to me. It's something I will never forget and if I get the chance I will repay him tenfold. I will never let him down."

Daley has publicly stated he would pick Farah for next year's series even if he languishes in the NSW Cup, as was threatened by Tigers coach Jason Taylor. While Farah's future remains uncertain, he has reaffirmed his commitment to the NRL, ruling out a move to Super League.

Farah said sitting alongside his Blues teammates on Monday night was enough for him to know he was not yet done with Origin. "I love this jersey more than anything for many reasons, one of them very obvious," Farah said. "It took on a lot more significance for me a few years ago [for me and] my family. Every time I go out there I give everything for the team. It killed me to miss the third game this year but I knew it was the right thing for the team. That's what this team is about - it's about making those decisions and putting the team first.

"While it killed me to miss it, the call at the time was the right one. I want to make sure I am back there next year to do everything I can for the jersey, for Loz [Daley] and for the boys."

Farah headed to Bali on Wednesday still unsure of what his future holds. Remaining at the Tigers is a distinct possibility.

"There is clarity - I have a two-year contract," Farah said. "Everyone is asking me and the honest answer is I haven't given it much thought. It was a pretty crazy end to the season and I am at a stage where I want to get away and not think about footy for a while. In due time, everything will sort itself out but for the moment, I haven't really involved myself in any of that. I am not in a rush to come up with a call. I am pretty sure I know where I stand. I just have to make a call."

Too bad we never hear him taking about his club coaches like this.
I wouldn't have thought telling people he didn't think his coach could coach was conducive to any positive culture anywhere
You're no saint Robbie.. Your bs isn't most on many

Interesting some of the comments i've read on Facebook from non WT's fans in relation to the Ayoub article.

''Hahahaha!! OK. He keeps a "shame file" to drag out and embarrass his employers when things aren't going his way…..."Oh, by the way, I'm looking for a new club". Good luck with that''

''This guy is nothing but a cancer he has no future in the nrl no one will want him at there club''

''It time to move on Robbie. You are a great player and any team out there would love to sign you. But ATM your acting like a kid in high school who girlfriend broke up with him. Just move on and prove them wrong.''

''This is just embarrassing Robbie. What a big baby''

'' Poor Wobbie lol.''

''Why would any club want this big noise trouble maker''

'' Maybe your Manager isn't helping the situation''

''Lol. Wants to rat out everyone eles.
But had the biggest cry about tallis.....''

Unfortunately, just like a lot on here, they know absolutely nothing about what they're commenting on.
All blaming Farah when it's Ayoub doing the talking - sticking up for his client.

I think everyone has an idea of what they're commenting **and to say otherwise because their opinion is different to yours is somewhat arrogant** but I digress. Ayoub is Farah's client, everything he does in the name of Farah, reflects on Farah. Do you think he'd be doing and saying these things if Robbie didn't approve? I think more than anything it proves something that was being debated earlier in the thread that outside the WT's bubble, he isn't the most popular player in the greater RL community.

Ha ha - well said after giving it to the 30 people who were protesting about Farah's removal.
Most of the comments on this Facebook page you quoted were about Farah - and not the person doing the talking, Ayoub.
That was my point.
Everyone can speculate all they like that Farah knew he was going to do it - but they don't actually know that.

That's hilarious Ink,
I've yet to see any player talk about Potter or Taylor in glowing terms, , but apparently Robbie should. Maybe we should buy a real coach for a change. That'd be nice , wouldn't it.

None of these people claim to know anymore than you. I don't think their opinion is any less relevant than yours. Ayoub is Farah's client, everything he does in the name of Farah, reflects on Farah. I always love reading your obviously unbiased comments GNR, keep em coming. :unamused:

Lol if I'm the only unbiased, hypocritical poster in the last 120 odd pages, may the invisible man in the sky strike me down.

I got a sort of deja vu from that article. Some time ago a player leaving the Wests Tigers appeared in a blues jumper extolling the virtues of his new direction. Here we have a Wests Tigers player extolling the virtues of his blues jumper.

I agree with you Ink and Matchball, to me this is it in a nutshell. Farah loves Wests Tigers as a support base for his even more beloved representative career. Club players are not up to his standard. Taylor saw this and the negative influence it had on WT.

All the while the club have stayed dead quiet over the whole affair while Ayoub has been chucking the toys out of the cot.

Relax you germ, you'll get your commission in full.

So why the he'll does he want to stay if we never buy any "real coaches "?

No point buying another coach unless he's up to Robbie's standards

Maybe he,d be better off leaving and find a "real coach "

Glad you are finally seeing Robbie is the problem here… Better late than never

far from the only one.
Just the best at it

There are plenty of people on this forum who are overqualified at misrepresenting opinion as fact. Many of them inhabit this thread. Champions at uttering that anyone who doesn't get behind Farah has no idea what goes behind closed doors, then proceed to lay the slipper into the club on mere speculation themselves.

Maybe on the other hand we should get rid of unprofessional players that aren't able to work with anyone other than their perception of 'elite' coaches…..Hang on, wait, we are! YAY!

Talk about jumping to conclusions!!
I'd rather see us get a real coach ourselves .
He obviously doesn't want to leave the club. . After all he did sign a contract to stay here.
Some here are saying that Taupau should honor his contract, but the same doesn't apply to Farah. A bit selective isn't it??
The biggest problem is the non coach that this board has stuck us with. , and the damage from him hasn't finished yet.
Should put some money on us to win the NSWCup next season, that should cheer you up a bit.

Haha…cant answer the question, bring up ''others'' opinions....that dont really exist.

You got nothing

When you talk about what some say about Taupau, and others say about farah...try using actual quotes...dont fabricate conflicting opinions just to give your weak argument some substance...people with nothing do this all the time, they generalise

I agree the coach is a problem, if the players have a problem with him, they should go...glad youre learning

Many years ago when Wayne Bennett was looking at sacking Lewis he spoke to many of the junior and senior players in a round the board meeting about Lewis and his captaincy and leadership

Reportedly this meeting was literally held while Wally was doing the sport news for Channel 10

Many of the younger players thought Lewis was unapproachable because of even who he was and if they ever wanted advice from him they just weren't game to ask

I'd be very interested to see what many of the younger and senior players think of Robbie , his captaincy and leadership at a meeting which Robbie wasn't at

I’d be very interested to read first-hand accounts of what the Club’s players feel about Taylor and his coaching skills. It would be even more interesting for the younger players to compare his coaching, people skills and communication skills against those of say Matt Head, Todd Payten and Brett Kimmorely.

I’d also enjoy hearing the scuttlebutt from player managers about their feelings on the WTs’ club, Taylor and the Club’s chances of attracting top talent.

Actually read it. I did answer the Question
Third line,I think
As for Taupau, , I assumed you would have read those comments on the other thread
