Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

I'm all for moving Farah on as I feel he's too divisive. BUT to sign Ballin because we are short of hookers. We have Cherrington, Halatau and Liddle. That's without Farah and without signing Ballin. Taylor has lost me on this one.

But don't we only have it on hearsay that he is too divisive? I don't think Farah has changed (as has always argued with refs) so they knew when signing him until 2017 what they were getting themselves in for.

Strictly speaking he can't be moved on.

I have never heard it mentioned that he is divisive amongst the players. I have never heard of disrespect from the players to his captaincy.

WT returned to pre season training today. Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall today and see the body language between JT and Farah.

2016 is not looking good at this stage

All the flies were on Taylor.

Yeah I lol'd too!

JT just advised we are short of depth in the hooker position and that is why we are in talks with Ballin. Apparently said shortage would not stop Farah from being released from the remaining 2 years of his contract if he wanted it. The flies were all over JT.

We heard you the first time

I must admit it was quite funny, watching JT trying to snort the flies away…
Come on guys, it's good to have a laugh.

Did you here Woodsy speak today after training http://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2015/11/02/woods_returns_for_pr.html

Now that is how a captain should speak not the scowling that comes from our ex-capatain

Yes he spoke well - and what a crap position for the club to have left with him on the first day back at training. Well done Woodsie.

Very laid back and a great interview. Interesting that he believed fitness wasn't as good last year as it had been in previous years. Good on him for mentioning Dallas Graham and JJ Felise. Despite everything that has happened, it is good to know we have our younger players in contention.

seems a bit bizarre without Robbie being capt

I actually think this is the best outcome possible. Leaves him free to concentrate on his own game.

It's just too coincidental that his name is always linked to clashes with his only 3 Coaches here. But he's a super player who if he stays, I'm sure will return to top form.

Taylor keeps the door open for Farah

November 2, 2015 11:44am
By Mark Ashton

Besieged Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor has kept the door open for Robbie Farah to leave the NRL club after refusing to guarantee the hooker a position in the team.
Farah continues to dig his heals in at the Tigers despite being told earlier this year he is free to explore his options with rival clubs beyond 2015 and Taylor hinted it would be in his best interests.

“If Robbie decides he wants to stay for the season, absolutely he’ll be here,” Taylor said. “The decisions around the team will be based on how individuals train and how we train as a team.” “There’ll be competition for that spot. I think that’s pretty clear.”

To make Farah’s position at the club even less likely in 2016 is the expected announcement that two-time premiership winning hooker Matt Ballin will confirm his move to the Tigers this week. “It’s right that the club is in talks with Matt Ballin, nothing’s been finalised there, but it’s getting fairly close.” “That just means that there’s really good competition for that position.”

Placing more uncertainty over Farah’s future is his decision to quit as Tigers captain but the general consensus among the playing group is that Aaron Woods would be an obvious choice. “I definitely think Woodsy’s a stand-out,” Dene Halatau admitted.
And the 24 year old Blues Origin prop would be more than pleased to accept the added responsibility. “To be captain of the club that you love would be awesome,” Woods said. “If it comes I’ll take it. If not, I’ll keep playing.”

The Tigers have come under heavy fire since it was made public that Farah was welcome to leave the club and the decision to release explosive forward Martin Taupau to Manly has also angered fans. “We made a good offer to Marty and in the end Marty knocked that offer back,” Taylor revealed. “That (Taupau leaving) was always going to happen in 2017, then it became a decision as far as letting Marty go early which could really help us in regards to securing some of our best young players.” “To have kept Marty for another year and risk losing some of those guys would’ve been a really silly decision for the club to have made so it became quite s simple decision that one.”

Taylor slammed a recent article questioning the state of player welfare at the club and insisted he’s under no more pressure at the Tigers than any other coach in the NRL.
“I refute that absolutely and it is so far from the mark it’s not funny,” he stated.
“Every coach in the NRL is under pressure to perform, every single coach.”
