The pathways gig always seemed a bit strange to me, we have just put Mathew Betsey into the Head of Pathways role so saw it as a strange move to put Sheens int there as well. Betsey is highly regarded so will be interesting to see how he goes transitioning to League. Kimmorley went for the Head of Pathways role as well but missed out so we offered him a job working under Betsey. I think these 2 will be great for strengthening the pathways at the club.

Its probably the most important area at the moment ...hope this Betsey bloke than no one had even heard of until he joined the Tigers is the man for the job .......yeah know he was part of CA ....but Australian Cricket doesn't need to much help with pathways doesn't ...not like it has 16 more highly rated teams to deal with

Yeah I don't know a lot about him at all, I don't watch much lower level cricket. He was head of coach development at Cricket Australia and coach and trainer development is a big focus on what we are trying to achieve in our pathways at the moment.

Sheens is poised to return to Australia within seven days after signing a deal to link with the Tigers until the end of 2024.

He needs to come back ASAP. We need to get to work now for 2022. No rest for us, we dont deserve it

Pre Season starts Nov, He will have plenty of time to have an input especially if 2022 Game 1 doesnt go too well

I’d say the Director of Football..

I agree. I like it.
The director needs to oversea both of the football department at the Elite Junior and the Elite Senior level.
I understand our focus needs to be on lifting our Performance on the field in the NRL but what good is it having a focus on the senior football operations and having a pathways program planned to assist with retention in the future if you have no structure of hierarchy aligning the two functions?

I think it makes perfect sense - he was hired before the end of the season, then Tigers did a review, Madge was spared but they restructured and asked Sheens to take on a modified role.

It seems clear enough that part of keeping Madge on as Head Coach was making other football department changes to support him... and arguably, now, oversee him.

I don’t think Hartigan reports to Sheens. Hartigan GM, Sheens Cosching director. Would have thought they were peers?
