Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t see what all of the drama is about with Galvin,
If by chance he does get 2nd year syndrome and has a disappointing year we save $
If he has a stand out season we will need a lot of money to keep him.
The kids gambling on his ability which by about half way through this year we should know if he collects or ends up costing himself some serious 💰
As a gambler myself I wish him well.
Pretty sure if we are winning more games and end up mid table or better he will stay. If we are near the bottom again he will leave. I’m ok with that.

Yes, Galvin's fitness is exceptionally good and that will help him in his NRL future.

Listening to stories on DCE, his fitness and repetitive dedication at training is what gave him the edge. He was on the field training and practicing long after games. So when he took over the Manly halves he really had his game locked down.

My comments confuse some, I am not 100% sold that Galvin is a must sign. But as you say when Fainu comes back like a Christmas ham and Galvin comes back fit, it's a strong indication that we should open the chequebook more to sign him. ... Just how much more?

Meh, I am probably wrong... Just sign the guy and throw the chequebook at him. At least we know he will be in the starting 13 and not reserve grade like many of our premium signings.
Someone said Latu went well at the boot camp.

Jeez that is a backline there.
It's a backline, but it needs a movie quote

"tell him he's dreaming" The Castle.
1. Bula
2. Turuva
3. Makaski
4. Taylan
5. Ronaldo
6. Galvin
7. Luai

I suspect that could get close to a 4.5mil backline. (Bula will be edging big money, Galvin for sure. Luai is 1.1m I think... Taylan may be cheap though...)

Plus a team of Champions isn't necessarily a championship team. We need GEL, players who have played together and can sync. We chop and change our backline a lot and that is really hurting us. Sure Turuva and Taylan have played together before, but who else?

We have Staines, Naden and Turuva who have come from the Penrith system and who have played with Luai. Lets see how they go, playing with their old teammates. Then we can decide do we pick a premium Center or Wing... OR spend the money on a good 2RF.

The role of mentor which was one of his motivations for returning to the Panthers for the second time. He has said the Panthers had such a talented group of players who in his opinion are easier to play with and mould. I don't doubt he has had a similar impact on many of our younger players as he did at the Panthers. Being a mentor extends off the field as well.
RE Koroisau, I agree. He would have an easier time with the Penrith Youngsters.

Leadership is though a fountain. You double down and invest, that's a massive lesson learned from Cronulla, Easts and other sides. Have a few good leaders and they can not only help your Juniors...

They help your other leaders perform.

We put WAY too much pressure on single leaders, like Tamou and Packer. They couldn't step up by themselves.

I reckon having Luai + Koroisau will be huge. They will feed off each other.

Spoon bowl? Was it in reality? Truthful or a lie? Have no issue with honesty tbh. Call a spade a spade. His mistake was he hurt some feelings of some supporters that is all and done so without any intention. Facts are facts, let’s not beat around the bush. The team we had would be lucky to stay clear of the spoon in KOE.
Honestly,

The team had a fighting chance. Benji should have known Parra would turn up. Parra ALWAYS turn up against us and we almost always turn up against them.
Seriously Parra vs Tigers games are damn awesome no matter where either team is on the ladder.

It's not that Benji picked the wrong options or under-estimated a side... It's that Benji told the team to play Sheensball, Fast n Furious.
Why dinnit he expect it to fail?

If we can win more games than we loose we can use that as motivation. If nothing changes then he’ll wait and go to market.
Exactly. If we’re sitting in the top eight and he’s playing well his profile will be through the roof. He’ll be playing in front of sell outs. I’d back him to stay.

If we’re losing, we probably deserve what we always get.
