Oliver Clark - I heard from an extended family member, this will be his last year playing NRL...he plans to retire and focus on running the family business....apparently the family are fairly well off.

Plodder

Yeah I am sure he has upside (somewhere) but I have really never rated Clark and he doesn’t even come onto my radar when picking the 2020 NRL side.

I think he gets a spot purely because we don’t have many other great options for front row, I’m hoping Alex Seyfarth really develops and earns himself a first grade spot by the end of the year because he’s a GIANT

Doesn’t look as big in photos

This is him on the far right

I remember when Sirro first packed into a Scrum after his time in Hawaii. He was so big he couldn't fit in the front row and had to play 2nd Row. Then along came Ian Roberts at Souffs and the era of the really big man began. Seyfarth is massive.

Eisenhuth is tal too.
Massive cat tho.

Hopefully Seyfarth has a bit more ticker.

??

Same as Eisenhuth ?

What?

U saying Seyfarth is soft?

Yep

Aha, ouch.
That's a shame.

I haven't seen much of him.

Defo isn't in my 17 atm like some others.

I wouldn't say soft, but no he's not a Taupau kamikaze ball runner. He's a work horse. The type will put his hand up for 20 hit ups a game, can make 100m+ and 40 tackles every game, while still being there in support when a half bust is made, or to try and chase down an opponent. He has a decent offload too.

Making metres has always been his biggest issue. But he doesn't shirk in effort. As he fills out his frame his post contact metres should continue to improve. At present you'd say he's a cross of Twal, Eiso and Reynolds. But as a guy who's literally just turned 21 and is filling out his frame he has massive potential.

He's not the finished product yet by any means but this is a player who's represented his state and country in all rep team since a young age. **It's not just his size that makes the difference, it's his hunger, competitiveness and determination which puts him in good stead to keep on improving.**

In Flegg i thought he looked quite average at first, then he started to dominate. He went up to CC and looked a bit lost but towards the end of the year started to look quite at home, and got an NRL contract. He'll work his ass off to improve and do anything for the team and that's pretty handy player to have at lock.

He's been a second rowers most of his career so doing the hard yards up the middle against men will take some adjusting. I didn't have faith in him at first but i back him now to kick on and replace ET/Huth at lock at some stage this year.

This is what we really need to be looking at. Its about the man more than the athlete.

Yeah we should rivet Weedler between two sheets of steel and then drop him off a bridge.

Rumours on social media again today about Frizell talking to Tigers ... we are becoming all the rage lol

Where was that reported?

Here several weeks back

Got locked. Mods might wanna unlock it though

Wasn’t Frizell quoted only a few days ago saying he wanted to get a new deal signed with the Dragons before the season started? That’s only like 21 x 48hrs to wait!

What Tyson wants and what he gets may differ. Tigers in the market for backrowers for 2021.

The way they’re doing it is Momirovski is being released from his contract to sign a one year deal with storm, but he’s also signing back with tigers for 2021 and 2022, and vice versa for Grant and Storm.

It’s not really a straight up loan, we’re selling him and buying him back. Still smart business in my eyes. NRL did it this way to avoid salary cap issues.

No they aren't...both players remain contracted to their existing Clubs

Article in Daily Telegraph by Crowley stating the Tigers forwards aren't good enough. Jeez can't wait for him to eat his words.

Adam Doueihi and Joey Leilua are not enough to make Wests Tigers a premiership contender
The Tigers might have landed two big signings in the last week, but they still don’t have what it takes to compete with the NRL’s best teams writes PAUL CRAWLEY.

Doueihi eyes fullback jersey
NRL: Adam Doueihi wants to make the Wests Tigers fullback jersey his in the 2020 season.
UNDER PRESSURE: Why McGregor is up against it
RECRUIT: New Tiger eyes fullback jersey
IF Wests Tigers are to break the NRL’s longest finals drought, they will have to do so with a forward pack that on paper doesn’t cut it with the competition’s heavyweights.

While Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe maintains his club came out on top in the player trade war after signing Joey Leilua and Adam Doueihi, there is still an alarming lack of experience where it arguably matters most.

It is still their main concern, and it cannot be ignored or overstated.

Aside from veterans Chris Lawrence and Elijah Taylor, who are both coming towards the end of their careers, there isn’t another Tigers forward who has played 100 NRL games.

Lawrence has 240 in the bank and Taylor 175 but they will be pushing to make coach Michael Maguire’s starting side.

Take them out and what you have left is a lot of young talent but no standout forward leader.

The main forward contenders are Alex Twal with 54 games from 18 starts, Josh Aloiai with 72 (36 starts), Thomas Mikaele 23 (five starts), Oliver Clark nine (eight starts), Matt Eisenhuth 56 (36 starts), Zane Musgrove 27 (nine starts), Michael Chee Kam 76 (30 starts)

and Luciano Leilua 43 (10 starts).

Put those forward stats up against the likes of the Sydney Roosters, Canberra, Melbourne and Manly and you can quickly see the Tigers’ predicament.

Maguire is still having to battle some serious salary cap challenges that were not of his making.

Two of the club’s highest-paid forwards, Russell Packer and Chris McQueen, are not really in the mix.

And the Tigers don’t have an experienced dummy-half now that Robbie Farah has retired. Young Melbourne recruit Harry Grant is the first-choice hooker but he has played just 29 minutes in the NRL in two games.

Leilua and Doueihi should give the Tigers more strike out wide. Picture by Darren Leigh Roberts.

The other least-experienced pack in the NRL will be Brisbane but they have boom youngsters such as Payne Haas, David Fifita and Tevita Pangai Jr coming through.

While there is no questioning the talent all the Tigers’ young forwards have, none are yet State of Origin or top-tier Test players.

They have also lost their best forward from last season, Ryan Matterson, to Parramatta.

While the Tigers now have plenty of backline strike power, and Luke Brooks and Benji Marshall give them enough class in the halves, they desperately lack forward experience.

However, they do have enough depth to create a competitive environment that should bring out the best in all of them.

The young Tigers produced some gutsy wins last season against more fancied and experienced opposition packs but still finished outside the top eight.

They haven’t made the play offs since 2011 and with every new season the pressure builds.

Being fair dinkum, if the Tigers make the eight this year they will have overachieved.

Here are the main contenders with their total NRL games, as well as how many games they have started:

Alex Twal 54 games (18 starts)

Josh Aloiai 72 games (36 starts)

Thomas Mikaele 23 games (5 starts)

Oliver Clark 9 games (8 starts)

Matt Eisenhuth 56 games (36 starts)

Zane Musgrove 27 games (9 starts)

Michael Chee Kam 76 games 30 starts

Luciano Leilua 43 games (10 starts)
