I doubt that Brooks goes anywhere.

Today's wording sounds like he's manager all in on him leaving.

Think club needs to finally show some backbone here.

Ow Brooks you don't like being coached by madge ay well too bad you're contracted unless we get top tier replacement

I view it more as an opportunity to get rid of a bad contract. If he’s agitating for a release, let him go. Best for all parties.

It is if there’s someone better to replace him now. Because he’s a bit of an unknown at nrl level again, I would prefer Hastings turn up and earn his spot first (even if it means out training him in preseason). I would wait as long as possible into preseason to release him if we still have a couple of roster spots available. Releasing him now only benefits his new team. I would think tigers hold the cards if brooks wants out (if it’s true).

Let’s face it, 2022 is going to be a bad year. If we have the opportunity to get rid of Brooks contract and recruit a good halfback for 2023, we should take it. It’s good business to get rid of him now when there is some interest.

He’s a bog average halfback on very good money. We should be jumping at the chance to get rid of him.

Fair call regarding the opportunity and the interest.
If douehi wasn’t injured id probably agree straight up. . Im hesitant to release him without a proven first grade (albeit average) half at all. All our cards are on Hastings then.

Yeah there just isn't enough depth in the halves to do it, **I also have a suspicion that madge doesn't see AD as a 6.**

He's a work in progress at best. The ACL recovery is really going to hurt that development.

I think Madge seems AD as a centre not a 6
Brooks and Hastings as the halves

For once we agree.

If Brooks were to leave I think it would be good for both him and the club , and if the rumour he is not happy under our coach he is already done at our club , Maguire won’t cop it and Brooks will be in reserve grade , Hastings and Peach could start in the haves until Adam is back and go from there , we need a centre and Curtis Scott would be ok , Thompson from dogs to bulk us up and a back rower along with Hodgson at hooker we would be ok

Yep. If we've chosen to stick with Madge, then anyone not happy under him needs to make their own arrangements to leave and play elsewhere. Madge is the boss and what he says goes. I always think of coaches like Bellamy and their approach to culture and effort. I think Bellamy wouldn't hesitate to rid himself of those who don't tow his line.

Easier for Bellamy to shop his players around than our lot tho.

Im still on fence with brooks .jez if only his last tackle options were better ? Especially for someone with so many seasons under his belt and his hunger for the ball on 4th and 5th tackle hasn't been there since 2019 .big fan of his defence tho improved greatly there

Going into the season with a halves combo of Hastings/ Brooks would be stupid.

Please elaborate. As someone with poor technical/coaching knowledge I’m genuinely interested in the perspective.

I admit I have no real idea about why Hastings was signed because it’s all been speculation on here. Do you have any idea what the tigers are thinking for @ 6 with douehi out?

For starters they are both unproven at NRL level, if either fail there is literally no fall back option, if either get injured there is no backup option. It would be really poor roster management.

Yep would need a back up option.

Too true, too true. So many of Wests tigers supporters are Lemings.

Some seem to forget the poor performances in entirely winnable games ....

Hopefully our new assistant coaches will inspire some real spirit and heart into our players. If Madge stops bullying the players and turning them off performing that would also obviously be a real bonus.

Well wouldn't the message the players be getting is win and all is good ......

Brooks is the only player in footy that hasn't been given a fair dinkum go. Until he has a team of immortals around him from 1-6 and 8-17, we should never judge!

Hastings 7 madden 6 if brooks goes

That would be the worst halves pairing in the comp by the length of Flemington straight.

Yet still miles better than the Brooks 7 Madden 6 we finished the season with

No it isn’t. You can’t claim that a player who isn’t even a proven NRL player would be a better option.

he will be flat out walking halfway through the year yet some on here have him walking on water

If Brooks seriously wants to leave the club, the club must give him a release, because you can’t have your no7 at odds with the coach. Although the club can not just roll over like in the past and get nothing out of it. If the Knights or the Dogs want him, we needs a quality player in return

Haha, we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. If a team is dumb enough to take him off our hands, I wouldn't try and do anything to make it more difficult.

Really? So his 5th tackle options are going to miraculously improve suddenly. His grubbers from 10m out usually land in the 5th row of the stands. No matter who is next to him he has failed often to do his job which is control the team. He has excuses getting out of trouble with our forward pack but in the red zone he has had plenty of opportunities and yet has been found wanting.
