Simona on the move

So we're apparently looking to swap Simona for Zillman for cap reasons, and in doing so would be taking on probably the absolute worst contract in the NRL.
Seems reasonable.

It's quite sad that a player has a desire to remain at a Club he obviously loves but is being sold off, his well aware what's going on as he says " i haven't spoken to anyone yet that's my Manager's job " .
His Manager will know how much his client wants and is obviously aware it's a business, If he gets overs elsewhere he will go as Wests Tigers are obviously trying to offload him.

It would be reasonable if Wests Tigers are really the mug club which teams like Titans take us for. They should keep Zillman and instead cut back Hayne's money. That's reasonable.

The funniest part about all of this for me is the reports Billy Zillman is on $650K at the Titans. For all the moaning people do about WT's over-paid players, that one strikes hard.

And yet, the Titans have managed to emerge from cap hell to the extent that they have been able to sign Jarryd Hayne, Konrad Hurrell, Dan Sarginson and Kevin Proctor in the past nine months while the Tigers are STILL shedding first-grade players because their cap is such a mess.

I'm pretty sure Konrad Hurrell was out of favor at the Warriors.

Im still waiting for Simona to show us his best, i think hes capable of much more than we get from him. He can be a weapon but he just doesn't deliver the goods enough

I don't get the comparison? Recently Tigers have shed far fewer players than Titans have.

Since 2014 Titans have let go of 12, 15 and 10 players, including 7 retirements. In that same period Tigers moved on 13, 8 and 7 including 3 retirements.

So quite clearly Titans were still shedding large numbers of players into 2017 to afford the guys you have noted.

Really this seems to me to be after he is off contract in 2017…and wanting to get a longer deal beyond that..

If Simona was with another Club would you sign him from 2018 onwards on the right coin..?

I'm sick of losing players because Taylor can't get along with people.

Firstly, where did you get the idea Simona and Taylor don't get along?

Secondly, we've already shopped around Rankin, Lovett and Kev, if rumours are to be believed. Hardly playing favourites.

At an event last year around semi final time and I was under the impression it was common knowledge Woods, Brooks, Simona, **Lovett**, Sirro had a strained relationship with the coach. I also fear this will cost us players this year. Players are close with Simona and it's unwarranted there are 10 I would move before him.

That's a strange one - been plenty of contrary reports that Lovett and Taylor are tight, because of Lovett's work ethic, and the fact he was one of the few players to really improve under Taylor…

You would think so as I can't understand how he gets a run. There was a report they had a blow up at training before the coke scandal. He was tight with Sirro who was punted so who knows.

Tbh we probably should have shed more players as well

The bottom line Tim call tell the club via his manager to get stuffed and he will see out his contract. Although as I said earlier in this thread the club is probably holding a gun to his head and saying you will not get a new contract in 2018 and we have arranged a three year deal at the Coast..the choice is yours..

I know its a dog eat dog business, but we as a club seem to be more ruthless than most, and you would not mind if it was a method of keeping up near the top of the tree, but that has not been the case and to be honest doesn't look like changing in the near future

Do you have a source for this report?

just watched Tim Simona talk on FoxSports. He was trotting out the "no excuses" lines like everyone else interviewed for the Tigers. looks very much part of the team for 2017\. Ballin, Moses and Brooks all have small injuries. Hope none are serious and they all run out in Round One.

Have you heard this from someone inside the Club…?

No but if you are shopping around a player you have to give him an incentive to go, other wise if they are happy why would they go????

I suppose they could always do a Liam Fulton deal and arrange a ESL club to take a player for a year and than offer them a new deal from 2018

Zillman would be atrocious. No idea where we would play him. And he's injured most of the time too. Pity the kid was supposed to be a gun but injury cruelled much of his career.

Simona is up and down but would be a mile ahead of Zillman in terms of what we need.

In any case i don't believe for a second that we're seriously shopping Simona around. He's still currently the best centre we have. And we don't have many. He's a good man, albeit a tad injury prone and inconsistent

Taylor didn't do much to hose down rumours on 2SM. I just about interpreted his comments as, "yeah, we'd be willing to let him go for the right deal."
