The raiders offer was alot more than tigers for 3 years
Tigers offer 1.3 for 3 years
He told tigers he would stay for 1.45 for 3 years
TIGERS SAID NO
So now I have to watch him run around for another team , thanks Mayer !!

Mate you got your figures wrong Wests Tigers never offered that much. He would have stayed for 1.3

Irvine didn't you say in another thread he would have stayed for $350K (1m ish for 3) - seems a big disparity in $here

Like everyone else I'm really disappointed with Tedesco's comments and yeah it does seem like a kick in the face to Potter and the team. I mean, if he was pressed by the media to make a comment, how hard would it have been to just say ' Yes, I'm really excited about the opportunity of playing under Ricky Stuart at Canberra next year, but right now, I am fully committed to the Tigers for the rest of this season and I would really like to get some serious game time under my belt and go out from here on a winning note with the WT boys'.

Because 21 year olds say and do stupid things they regret

We've ALL done it (me included )

Well I don't know what is right or wrong in terms of the figures being mentioned- but if Teddy is getting ridiculed by the majority of Tigers fans for being greedy and he was offered less than Brooks and Moses, (as suggested in another post) I hope he makes it known, I was devastated that we lost him, but I would be furious if it was a deliberate move by Mayer to leave him with no option but to go - surely he couldn't be that stupid, I feel ill…...

t-man, Irvine is right and you're wrong unfortunately. The Tigers offer over 3 years came to less than 1.2 mil. The Raiders on the other hand came in with 1.9\. We didn't offer him peanuts, to me it was a very reasonable offer but we couldn't compete with that sort of coin. Personally I think Teddy has been incredibly fortunate picking up that sort of coin for playing 25 FG games.

At this time after Milford signed with broncos he came out saying "I will give it my best for Raiders, I owe them, they helped me get here etc." oh well…

Well yeah, me too, Happy, but we're not professional athletes being asked to make a comment to the media. I've seen Tedesco speak before, he seems like a pretty astute young man, who wouldn't just blurt out nonsense without thinking. The point is, I think he said exactly what he feels and that's the disappointing thing.

I not making excuses here

But I have done career information talks with complete Year 10,11 and 12 school grades and done Q and A involved with that

And it is hard you have to be really careful what you say It could of been so easy for me to slip up and cause damage to my business

And I was in my late twenties early thirties

As a 21 year old I couldn't have given two craps what I said and wouldn't have cared who I offended along the way

Happy considering he is a professional league player he could've been a little more discreet. I understand tigers management botched the deal but his comments were a poor reflection on the coaching staff which I believe he has benefited from considerably.

I retract all my arguments about how we should keep playing him in first's.

He has just won the lotto with 1.9m and can't be humble enough to play a straight bat whilst he is still contracted to the Tigers.

I'd be really disappointed if he was my son , no class.

Some people are really sour grapes on this forum, yeah I'm not happy about it like most, but to suggest he won't make any rep sides because Raiders are wooden spoon type side, didn't Jarred Hayne play for the Blues the last 2years in a row while Parra achieved the wooden spoon 2 years running.
Make no mistake Teddy has plenty of class and potential, his problem is staying on the field consistently (injury free).
We should seriously move on from all Teddy threads his history in my eyes, Sayonara Teddy

No class is correct Defiant.
Happy, the excuses you are making are total bullcrap. These kids are negotiating million dollar deals. They are more astute and disciplined than the average 21 year old dope. I believe they were his true colours….all about me.
I think he is a greedy, disloyal so and so and look forward to watching his career stall under Stuart.

I think everyone is being a bit harsh on him regarding this interview and I agree with Happy; as a 21 year old I'm sure I would have blurted out the biggest load of garbage imaginable. His press release has confirmed commitment to the Tigers for this year.

Unfortunately the world these days is all about 'messaging'. Doesn't look too good to come out and just say 'they offered me more money'. But the reality is, they offered him a lot more money and most on here would have done as he has done. Bit of spinning in an interview situation shouldn't make a big difference to how it is viewed.

You may well be correct in your assessments Stryker but you are completely incorrect to say that this is a kid negotiating a million dollar deal. He has an agent who he pays big bucks to to do just that. There is no correlation between the contract negotiation and how the post contract interview has come out.

I'd give my scrotum to be able to play for the Tigers without pay.
Let alone get great money for doing it as a 21 year old.

Him as a young guy who has come through the juniour system and now has the opportunity to spend many years playing for the team with his close mates makes him a complete dog for going especially considering the money the Tigers offered was still very good.

As others have said though, he's shown his true colours and that's not someone I'd want at our club.

What I meant is he is involved, obviously he isnt personally sitting down with management. Most if not all 21 year olds are not involved with salary negotiations of that size. Point being it wasnt just some aloof throwaway comment from a young bloke who put his foot in his mouth. It came off as a considered statement and one suspects he had a lot of time to think about it.

Well hand it over Sabre and we will organize a run for you in the Auckland 9's
