What a sad day today is ..reading the back page of the Telecrap this morning **"Hey Mini help me get out of this mess"**these players have been paid overs for years and looked after and this is where it has ended up and this is the attitude these guys have .Our club has made a stand at last and I applaud them for this ,what these guys have said in the media of late is very disappointing..just man up sign up or pee OFF!

What mess would that be? A mess that the players themselves have created? Laughable.

Really ..I listen to it…didn't hear him say that ay all...

WESTS Tigers chair Marina Go has opened up about the troubled club’s desperate fight to keep off-contract skipper Aaron Wood and star fullback James Tedesco, conceding: “You can’t make people stay if they don’t want to”.

In an exclusive interview, Go also refuted suggestions from Jason Taylor that he only found out about his sacking through reports from The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield.

Go was also adamant “as it currently stands” the Tigers had no intention of granting Mitchell Moses an immediate release to join Parramatta.

While Moses has already committed his future to the Eels for next year, Go said the club had put its best offer forward to keep Woods and Tedesco.

Ultimately, she said, it would come down to whether the two players wanted to stay.

Regardless, Go said the club would continue to back new coach Ivan Cleary.

“It is absolutely critical that Ivan is able to assemble the right team of players who want to win for our club,” Go told The Daily Telegraph.

“We are very confident that we have a coach who can get us to the finals. I am not suggesting that it will happen this year, but in the near future.

“My understanding is that Ivan would like Aaron and James in his team. But clearly we want people in the club who want to wear our jersey and want to win for our fans and members.

“Which is why Ivan said at his press conference (when he was appointed), ‘people need to get on the bus’.

“Our preference is to keep them, absolutely. We have never backed away from that. They are important, we have invested in them, they are key players. But you can’t make people stay if they don’t want to.”

Asked what hope she could give fans that Woods and Tedesco would be playing at the Tigers next year, Go said: “I can tell you, there is a lot of misinformation about this.

“There are a lot of concerned fans who are sending messages, pleading with us to offer them more money. Obviously they think that clearly we mustn’t be able to afford to offer them more money.

“Ultimately, if all things are equal, we know not always all things are equal, but I feel like Justin and Ivan have done their very best in terms of offers to those men to try and keep them.

“Ivan is a new coach and perhaps they need to see what we believe to be the case and that he is going to be a very good coach for them.

Go was also adamant no decision had been made on granting Moses an immediate release.

“Look, as it currently stands, I know that the coach’s preference as of today is not to release him before the end of the year,” Go said.

“I know that Ivan believes Mitchell will be a great contributor to our club for the rest of the season. That is the latest that I have heard from our CEO and our coach and that is all I can say to you.”

As for criticism from Taylor that he was made a “scapegoat”, and only found out about his sacking through Rothfield’s reports, Go said: “I would dispute that.

“He saw a rumour. I know what Tweet he is referring to (when Rothfield revealed a board

meeting that night would determine Taylor’s fate).

“I can tell you right now at that point there was not a firm decision. At that point we were not in a position to tell him because at that point we had not finalised our decision.

“He says he heard about it that way and I am sad that he thinks that is actually the case. I know he said that and I feel sad that he thinks that but that is absolutely not what happened.

“I will explain that to him because I feel sad that he feels that.”

Sounds like she knowns they have been offered there max from the club to stay but also sounds like she knows they won't be here next year , I dont think the coach can get them to stay , sadly Cleary I think will turn us around this year , may not be finals footy but close

I like Go's press release, she has explained the clubs position and that should be the end of it, Woods and Teddy should now at least tell the club if their on the bus or off so everyone can move on. Half of last year was destroyed by contract talks and the same thing is happening this year, not fair to the other players, supporters, sponsors and the club.

Exactly… Sad thing is they don't even realise it

Like people have said we have paid overs for all of them for most of their career.

Teddy could not help his injuries but he still took a leap of faith in him considering missed plenty of football.

If they had just left in the pre season with some dignity and class I could live it. However the way this has dragged on has made them look bad. I just don't respect at all these players taking pot shots at the club in the media. Even respected ex players are calling them out now.

Go's comments indicate to me they re both gone and I say hurry up and make it official. Make Lawrence the captain for the rest of the season and move on if that is the case.

The board and CEO should resign or be sacked. Brooks was the only player out of the "Big Four" that if lost to another club would not have impacted us that much IMO, yet this dud is the only one we managed to secure. Moses gone, teddy gone, Woodsy gone… half a dozen others will probably follow suit as the club made these guys a priority for negotiations.
We have to rebuild this club almost from scratch now as we are losing some big big players. May as well do it right and get a new board and CEO too otherwise this circus will continue for years to come.

It appears he was the only one of the "4" who wanted to stay.

You can't keep them if they don't want to be here anymore. I'm as disappointed as everyone else, but they think they are more likely to achieve finals footy elsewhere, we just have to show them that they were wrong …..... 😛ray:

I reckon the place will be better off without the overrated three. A lot of the problems of late have come from the mouth of cousin it (woods), the sooner they are gone and replaced by blokes that want to be there the better.

I wouldn't be bagging out Brooks, Im happy he stayed.

The others have sold us and our club out.

I rate brooks way higher than moses or woods. Very happy to have him and bless him for his loyalty.

Viewing both their highlight reels the other day you compare - I thought Moses was extremely sharp when his stuff comes off, but that goes for both.

Brooks was not the highest profile of the four but he is a long way from being a dud. Great to see him commit early, take the offer up happily and look forward to our future.

And he's a left foot kick. Always good to have one of them in the line-up…

Someone has not paid any attention for the last year or so. Happy to have Brooks on board and have always wanted him to stay.
