THE 4......THREAD

PK reported all 4 have been shopped around to all clubs and none have come anywhere near what the WT are offering them…so if they leave us is for less $$$$ not more $$$$

No other team has the available salary cap space that the WTs do .

A great position for a new coach with a high profile to come in to .

Not true..most clubs are very similar to us with only half a roster signed for beyond 2017\. Everyone seems to be hanging out to see what the cap will be. I think the market place has a had a rethink on the hype, especially a no 6 and 7\. The desperate clubs will be still interested, they have no choice but I think some of the bigger clubs probably are thinking they have better players on their books at half the price

Spare a thought for the Bulldogs unofficial forum - they have almost as many seperate threads about the four amigos as here.
The poor dragons could only muster a Tedesco thread, but the milk went bad as it was within 48hrs that he was meant to sign.

You mean Teddy didn't sign with the Dragons.. :astonished: I was expecting a Moltz style game day announcement from Doust to put us of our game…

Tedesco deal not going ahead now; guys
Spoke to the source last night.

Good news for us.

Taane miln defo available tho

No shortage of good halves off contract in 2018 that are still unsigned. Widdop and Reynolds are reported as both testing the market to see whats out there. In all honesty the only member of the so called top 4 that is irreplaceable is Tedesco. The other 3 can be replaced. But the sooner the club knows whether they need to go to Plan B the better otherwise we might be left with the scraps. I think it would be unwise of the clubs behalf to impose any deadlines without hiring a coach. If the reports are true and Cleary is confirmed we should know within a few weeks who is staying and who is going. Interesting times ahead.

Someone posted a comment from the Kennel the other day (Milky?) saying that the Dogs did make a play for all four, but Moses, Tedesco and Woods all turned them down pretty quickly. Can't remember the story about Brooks, but who cares what he does.

Hooper got it from Kent on NRL 360
Kent got it of Milky whilst browsing the WTF
Milky got it from the Bulldogs Kennel
And the Bulldogs kennel is full of crap

So really it's Milky's scoop!
Stay away from the kennel champ, it stinks

Looks like dog poop, smells like dog poop, tastes like dog poop - must be dog poop!

Or Coogee Bay ice cream?

Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco says his desire to play finals football will play a big part in deciding which club he signs with from next NRL season.

Linked to interest from Canterbury, incumbent NSW Origin fullback Tedesco says his priority will be to play for a club that can be consistently in the top eight.

The Tigers, who have not played finals for the last five years, are tipped to announce Ivan Cleary as their new coach in coming days as they battle to re-sign Tedesco and fellow young guns Aaron Woods, Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses.

Good point. But still I'm worried about our chances of keeping Tedesco

There are quotes in the story - click the link.

"It's not about either of those (money or the coach) - it's about winning games," Tedesco said.
>
"Every player wants to be playing finals footy and I haven't done that for five or six years (since playing under-20s)."
>
The Tigers last week sacked mentor Jason Taylor after back-to-back floggings with former Penrith and Warriors boss Ivan Cleary expected to be confirmed as the club's new head coach next week.
>
Tedesco pleaded for stability and said the side couldn't fire if things weren't right off the field.
>
"It's pretty clear that we need to get that stable and it's been unstable for a few years," Tedesco said.
>
"It all comes from the top. The board and the guys upstairs really need to show some stability so we can be confident in our abilities."
>
Interim coach Andrew Webster will again lead the side into Sunday's clash with St George Illawarra.
>
Tedesco, Brooks and Moses have all attracted criticism that they are undeserving of the blue-chip pay packets they're asking for.
>
No.6 Moses agreed it was time for him and his fellow playmakers to step up but shrugged off barbs they didn't deserve their asking price.
>
"That's completely up to them," Moses said of his knockers.
>
"I'm just going to keep playing footy for the Tigers and get my game up to where it was last year.
>
"I don't think we're too far off. We're only four games into the season."

It's fair enough IMO - why would he want to stay around at a club going nowhere? Woods has said similar in that he wants the club to show him and others that they've got plans in place to improve and go places.
Don't blame either of them.
Farah publicly did the same back in 08 (or whenever it was) when he had the Titans on his tail. From memory the fan base was asking the same questions of the club, as we appeared to be treading water going nowhere at the time.

Cheers mate.

First it was they wanted to know who the coach will be (which is fair), next it will be "we want to see what players the club can attract". Whether he's officially signed or is still going through the due process stage, I think it's a very safe bet to say Cleary is the man. So in that case, would he have sounded Tedesco and his mates out yet? Surely the club isn't going to announce him, then Cleary finally makes overtures. You would like to think there have already been conversations between them with Cleary selling them his plan and who on the open market he plans on targeting. Whether he realises it or not, Tedesco is a pretty significant piece to the direction of our club. Yes he needs support, and the club has the resources to give it to him.
