The Ashes 2015

Well it's proved to be a costly drop by Haddin too. Root zeroing in on a century and England 3/189.

Aussies need 2 or 3 wickets in the final session.

I'm with Halifax here, winning the toss on this wicket has won them the game. Curators told to take zip out of wicket Taylor even saw groundsmen brushing grass against the grain so as to cut it some more.

Sad really to take steps like this to win games

Every country caters to their team, even us. Of course they'll nullify the pace. Both sides let the opportunity slip to take the upper hand. At 3/43, 250 was going to be a good score, but at 4/280, you should be looking 450+. The day finished even.

Haddin really cost us the first day. Had them on the ropes and after dropping Ellen they'll likely make 400+ now…

RE: pitches, every home country doctors their pitches to benefit them. Indians like playing spin, so that's why every deck there looks like Roland Garros.

In the same game in 2009 in Cardiff England were happy with 450 until the Aussies batted second and declared on around 700\. It's hard to read too much into things until both teams bat, but the pitch looks very tame. Aussies were good in parts but plenty of room for improvement with the ball.

Not bad from England though. Its usually hard to lose a game with a first innings score of 400+.

Its a hard one. 350 would be no more than par i think, especially given what happened in 09\. But the Aussies are renowned in recent yrs for falling in a big heap at times, so 350 could be plenty. I personally don't see them collapsing though, so the Poms need to get as close to 400 as they can, but i can't really see it.

England all out 430 a good 1st innings score

I'd say they'd be pretty happy having been 3/42, almost 4/42\. They even rectified the mini collapse they had last night.

It has guaranteed them of a draw worst case scenario i reckon . Will see what the Aussie do with the Bat.

Batting first with 430 puts England in a great position. Especially if they strike early with the ball.

Have to feel for Rogers 5 short of a Century , Steve Smith was also starting to look dangerous before making a mistake to a spin bowler

All of the middle order got starts, no one kicked on.

Here's the chance for the koala to shine, doubt it though. Never digs in when the team needs him.

You have to say at this point in time England have the upper hand. Australia trail by 166 runs with 5 wickets left.

Time for Watson to repay his faith in Selectors with a big ton.

At this stage it looks as though game is heading for a draw
