People will do whatever they can these days to earn money. And correct me if I am wrong but Miley is certainly not the first person to dance provocatively on stage half-naked.

It's just blown up more because of her history as a children-aimed country-pop star.

It's certainly a shame to see her go down this road but can any of you honestly say that you have never made a mistake in your life? Be it a secret or on show for the whole world to see, one day she will hopefully look back and see the mistake she made, just as you and I have.

Seriously. If some child star on the downward spiral can ruffle your feathers you need to find the closest reflective surface you can and have a good hard look at yourself.

Good luck to her, if she can grab a few clams on her journey to obscurity then who am I to judge. If your worried about her being a bad role model for your daughters then, once again find that reflective surface.

There will always be a Cyrus. If you need something to worry about I suggest you read the front section of the paper BEFORE skipping to the gossip column.

Totally agree , but shouldn't someone be saying something to any of these youngsters and their actions .Where are her managers ,parents ,fiancé someone to say "Are you sure about this ??"

Someone earlier today said that Cyrus and Brittany Spears had the same managers ,I think that says something

It just worries me , if my daughter was in Miley's shoes that someone ,anyone would stand up and say something to protect her from herself

Unfortunately there are some Managers who will do anything to earn a good earn for themselves but at the expense of the person they are managing. It happens in show business and it happens is sports such as rugby league.

The Beatles said they were bigger than Jesus and smoked pot at Buckingham Palace. John Lennon took his clothes off too. Numerous times. Talk about losing respect and your clothes!
The difference is that when these guys did it it was on another level. They invented disrespect in pop culture. It was damn disrespectful but it was damn cool too. Can't say the same about today's lot.

I find this thread hilarious though for so many reasons. The inevitable cycle of life - what goes around comes around. I remember my father asking who the 'garbo' was trying to sing when I played Cocker Happy loudly in my room as a kid. Or him wondering what the terrible noise was when I was listening to bands like Deep Purple, Led Zep or Yes. "That's not music, he'd say - it's just a bunch of out of tune instruments being thrashed all at once" :laughing: Dad was always stuck firmly in the Big Band Jazz era, nothing was good after that, apparently - God rest his soul.

I often remember his words when I now yearn for the good ol days of my music era, search for 2WS on the radio dial and find myself declaring that the music today is crap compared to the 60s, 70s & 80s. I honestly thought I would never do this! But I have to admit that I do - I think it's inevitable as you get older.

That said, it's not all old fart thinking with me - I'm probably more like my Mum in music tastes - she moved with the times quite a bit, though she did draw the line at some of the heavier stuff :wink: She switched onto Rock 'n Roll when she first heard Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock and she ended up being Credence Clearwater Revival's biggest fan in the 70s, then she moved onto Billy Joel, John Farnham and Max Merritt whilst still loving old singers like Deanna Durbin, Frank Sinatra and Mario Lanza! Her taste in music was vast and I like to think that I am more like this than stuck in one particular era or genre. There is some stuff I don't mind listening to today - Coldplay and Adele come to mind, but overall, I still reckon I was extremely fortunate to have grown up in the best ever era for music and artistry - but that's just my opinion :stuck_out_tongue:

Funny you mention that Flip ,the amount of times I absent mindedly find myself humming or whistling El Paso by Marty Robbins (My dad's favourite song) I remember it so well , they always seemed to play it on the ABC radio on Saturday morning when Dad was listening to Wayne Wilson going through the Saturday races and scratchings

We'd come home from sport and dad let me or my sister drive the last street home sitting on his lap
