5 Co-Captains?

That's just embarrassing!

How ? Or Why ?

Its not like Captains make that many decisions in a club but they have a lot of jobs. Ive never understood 1 captain in a professional club

I know you like to drink the WT cool-aid but even you must understand why one leader is important in a team sport right?A bus has one driver. Not only do we now need all these new players to gel but we are relying on all 5 skippers to be on the same page??? just stupid.

I was worried when i saw the team list for the trial and it smacked me in the face of how lacking Wests are in many areas. This now has added to my worries. Its embarrassing and completely out of sinc in what we are told that no one player is bigger than the club. The only possible reason to have 5 captains would be to appease someone who feels they should have it. luckily the chances of finals are slim so we wont have to have the embarrassment of 5 WT in the captains of finals team photo.

What I find embarrassing is you saying "our chances of finals are slim" - without a ball even being kicked.

How about a bit of positivity - that would go further than one captain. Just saying!

I like it

everything is still all up in the air in terms of its a whole new squad and unsure whos going to be playing etc and right now there obviously isn't any one person who is a good fit for captain over everyone else

Worst thing we did was give woods captaincy when there wasnt really any good single choice, halatau and lawrence were the other choices but werent guaranteed game time

Pretty confident towards the end of the season it will work itself out anyway and will become more clear who should be the captain

Well after actually reading the article again the 5 players mentioned are the Leadership group which all Clubs have it's nothing new…they are the right choices..Sharing around the media responsibilities is nothing new either..

There will only be 1 on-field Captian maybe Co but that's about it...

Nothing like a headline to get Wests Tigers fans off chops tho..

Carry On..

It says Cleary has named 5 leaders “tasked with sharing captaincy duties”.

The Roosters have only named One captain for Round One. Surely we are now favourites with 5 Captains against one.

I guarantee you our 5 captains earn less penalties than Cam Smith.

I would like to see them play with the refs in good humour with all 5 bombarding Badger the Hipster or Chechen.

I don't mind it. It's the only option that would satisfy both rewarding Tiger loyalty (Lawrence and benji) and ensuring that they could still be demoted to the bench or reserves if performances dictate.

I honestly think it's the best solution, even though it's not ideal.

My only problem is it leaves the club and the coach open to ridicule if your losing games and at the bottom of the table. We know the press can be a pretty simple bunch. I just worry that with 5 home grounds and 5 captains if we cant win 5 games we will be a complete laughing stock.

All the press will jump over the fact - who is the real leader out there ? These blocks are a shambles etc.

Win and Cleary looks genius.

People will use it either way to his Cleary or pin him - when in reality it probably has little impact on the teams results.

Anyway - I just want to win.

So Brooks running the show could have as many as 5 captains on the field at one time. Me thinks this may confuse him even more.

Disappointing decision. It basically tells the world that we have no leader. 5 co-captains, what a shambles…

To be honest I would have preferred to see a Captain and co Captain at most, although I think I get where Ivan is coming from. It could end up being a good thing.
