But the playing group that I would want to be staying are staying , if they were unhappy they would be leaving in their droves

Neither would I. If Payten gets the job it would make our efforts this year to clean out the boys club completely pointless. I can't see Potter going though, the club can't afford to pay out Sheens so why would they sack another coach? Are we trying to become the Chelsea of the NRL and sacking every coach when something doesn't go absolutely perfectly?

I and my four kids will leave the tigers if he is sacked this year
 
Everything was going along okay a month ago, some spirted performances against quality teams,than comes the Benji fiasco, the wheels fall off the team and now the finger is being pointed at the coach. It maybe their is a faction within the playing group that is destabilizing Potters job and have some push when it comes to the board. I dont know what the answer is,you cant coach as side if half the players hate you, but than again you need a coach that be hard but fair with his players.

Anyway bottom line, give him a go in 2014 without some of the old brigarde and some new blood and than make a call. I for one will be having a years sabitical from my membership if he is flicked
 
I think the team's results won't really determine if Potter stays or not. Pretty sure even a BAD board would understand that injuries have played a significant part in the season's fortunes.

If Potter is sacked, it'll be for the real, genuine coach-killer…. he's lost the dressing room. I think we've all seen the less than inspiring performances of the last 4 weeks or so. That is not a team TRYING to impress it's coach. It's a team that has given up, abandoned the gameplan & goes through the motions.

This is what happened to Lamb in his last season- the team stopped putting in. I'm yet to see a coach survive that.

Ask yourself this- last week against the Coast, when the game started to slip away, did ANY Tiger player look to put their hand up & get the team going? I didn't see it.

I think this team needs a 'players coach' to get the TEAM back playing as a unit. The squad was fractured by Sheens' sacking, and it appears Potter hasn't patched it together with his style of coaching.

Cant believe that we would consider paying three coaches in one year - especially since we are supposed to have money issues.

Arent they backing their original decision - or is the board completely different?

Not sold on Barrett- about as exciting as a brick.

Strangely (maybe it's the late hour) but I'm thinking Freddie Fittler, with the right support staff, could be the guy to get the Tigers back together as a team.
 
Are the fans calling for his head? Are we really a club in crisis?

The way I see it, we have a backline with an average age of 22, missing SEVERAL key players to season-ending injuries (and have done so for a long time), and are in a transition phase into Life after Benji where a premiership-winning Toyota Cup side is starting to move into first grade.

WHERE is the incentive to change coach? Last year was bad because we had the roster that should've done better, this year it's all circumstance and poor planning.

I cannot see what Potter could have done. Comparing his coaching with Robinson, who was handed a squad of superstars WHO HAD ALREADY gone through this process of transition 2-3 years ago is ludicrous.

I do not understand who can justify making this decision. It makes zero sense.
 
The parallel to Penrith is interesting - with Cleary being given time to re-build and rumours that we want Barrett.

I havent heard too many rumours of Cleary being punted and yet we are constantly being talked about.

Is it all just a storm in a tea cup and hence the Tele getting us going?

Or is management so unsettled that we are having the top individuals making decisions when it is their turn to lead?

I hope we get some form on the board and can start looking at next year with some hope.

The new signings are surely a sign that this is happening. But who knows?

How about you have a go being head coach of the stuff ups Sheens brought in from last year, the deadwood that was left here, the shocking, ridiculous signings that sheens decided to bring in, a crippling injury crisis that expended ALL our second tier cap and a boardroom who probably don't know how to wipe their own a*se. Oh don't forget the star player whinging and whining UNDOUBTEDLY disrupting the whole football club, because somehow it revolves around him.

a) we don't have the money to be paying THREE coaches, why the hell would we get rid of him after one year? Name a coach that could have done a better job with the BS that he has had to put up with this year?

b) one season and you give him the punt? He's done the dirty work, punted the deadwood, installed a system, a structure into place, and the players might not like him but their probably all the deadwood thats been kicked out already. Ashyford, Marshall, Moltzen etc all leaving, players that have been well below their potential this year and the past few. He's had to blood some young talent, when you have that many young guys in one side, geez tell me how your expected to be Ultra competitive, its almost unheard of. Next year, these boys are going to be gunning for first grade, they know what is expected after 10 or so games, they'll be used to the speed of the game and more physically capable. Give them a year or two, this team will be a formidable one, and POTTER should be the one to coach them, seeing as though he blooded pretty much all of them.

c) If you HONESTLY believe the board stuffs up from time to time you are either delusional or down right stupid. The board acts like a bunch of kids who dont get along, a 50/50 split can be the worst thing for a football club. Get rid of the lot of them bar Mayer, get independents in, people who dont actually affiliate with the club, get them to make the decisions, what would half of the drongos in the office know?

Oh and by you saying support the club through thick and thin, that means the coach to champ. Support the WHOLE club dont be a hater, just because you think running and coaching a club is a simple as RL Supercoach on NRL.com. wake up to yourself mate. Potter deserves a shot next year, I cant blame him for the mess Sheens left him with nor the injury crisis in the club.

And one last point, we are deadset the laughing stock of the NRL atm, Parra are last, and they cant even get as much bad publicity as us!

Where I think it is madness to even consider sacking Potter,I also think the board has to act quickly and either back him to the hilt or sack him.No more media leaks and tweets,be up front with the LONG SUFFERING fan base and tell us what's happening.I just can't believe a group of under performing players can railroad a coach who is trying to change the culture of the place.Anyway let's hope the board actually listens to the people who keep the club going

If this is the case and its what the board are basing their decision on…..then they really shouldve hired a Hasler, Bennett or a Bellamy.

What do they expect from an NRL novice coach whos being paid next to nothing while also while having to tell players during the season ''you wont be required next year"

Not much sense or foresight has gone into this decision if true.
They get the wrong man for the job if they wanted more results than theyve gotten at this stage of his tenure

Essentially this means the dressing room should be in charge of appointing our next coach,,,otherwise the merry-go-round never stops!… - crazy stuff....the players should be ashamed of themselves
