What is Tedesco worth?

Halves command the most money and I expect Moses to be right up there based on what he has demonstrated this year.

Dugan is way ahead of Tedesco for the fullback position in SOO. Based on what Dugan has done at SOO he should be just about the first player picked.

If we can offload the halves we should be breathing a huge sigh of relief. Someone wedged us into a corner with their contracts and when it comes to resigning Tedesco , he should be our main target.
Neither of the halves are worth the money that they're contracted for, and certainly not anything higher , Rankin could cover one of the spots, and we could get someone better or just as good to cover the other one,

We can't dig up another Fullback or try scorer like Tedesco.
We don't need the worlds best halves, just good ones, and there's nothing to say ours will be either. They can be replaced,
Tedesco can't

Whilst I mostly agree, Rankin is not the answer in the halves, we need to keep at least one of our halves, if for nothing else it will help us keep Teddy.

Tigers need to offer Tedesco a 10 year deal for for $11m. Tigers need to give him long term security as the money will come anywhere. Given his injury history its a risk reward worth taking.

The problem is 851their inflated contracts could also be the very thing that COSTS us Tedesco( that's a minimum of 1.2 million for the two them, and the the three of them will cost over2 million
We still have a lot of positions to fill including Woods. , as so many are off contract
Rankin may or not be good in the halves, but who knows unless they try him.
The gamble on the two young blokes is looking very shakey. And they both need to show a lot more, before that money is justified, Tedesco is already a first grader, and possibly or probably a rep player

I reckon you are 100% correct. I want to see Brooks or Moses but ideally both sign with us and kill it but at the moment it doesn't look at all likely does it. I think they will both sign with us but them turning into gun players is a long way off.

I said we need to build the team around Tedesco and I believe that. We need fast outside backs and a tough pack of forwards that can roll forward and defend like demons and then add a couple of decent halves and hooker. At the moment we are paying for pretty good halves and getting pretty average players.

We can't keep paying players on potential or some mythical championship that we are building too within the next 5 year plan. I think whenever we hear that from coaches or team management we should be skeptical. You need to win games now and buy players or promote players that make us a better team. You can't buy players though if you have overpaid potential or overpaid previous stars or even overpaid stars.

I would take it on Ted, i believe if he was to lose his pace he could easily handle five eighth or centre, its his creativity that makes him such a gun.

A 10 year deal would ludicrous.

We have been burnt before, several times - max. contract is 3 years I feel.

I have never heard of a team that has been built around a full back.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Being built around the 6, 7 and 9 yes but one …..?

The one when they were moved to six maybe.

Parra relied too much on Hayne and came unstruck accordingly. It seemed that way to me anyway.

He is a player that we can do that with. Hayne, Slater and Inglis are all examples of teams that have been built around a 1\. We can debate this and you can disagree but fullback is a critical player in the game.

Of course you need more than one player but Tedesco is heading towards being our best ever player. He will need support.

I still think we have to be careful with his contract. It's worth taking a risk and giving him a longer term contract but we shouldn't go nutters and pay him overs. That has killed us so many times in the past.

He's worth around $800k give or take. With tpa's he'll nudge closer to 900\. Wouldn't lock him in for these longterm deals like Cherry-Evans anything could happen. 4yrs is a decent contract.

An can people please stop comparing what Farah is currently getting paid. They backended his contract just like Lawrence.

Spot on, in Farah's case he took a pay cut early to keep other players and was promised his dues at the end of his contract, so Farah's deal evened out over the total length of contract would be more like $500k a year.

Don't disagree with your opinion but I do disagree that Hayne, Slater and Inglis had the teams built around them.

Parramatta are now coming good - I wouldn't say the team was built around Hayne.
The team just happened to be there around him on the run to the finals a couple of years ago.

Melbourne Storm I would suggest was built around Smith (2002), Orford (2001) and Matt Geyer (1997) - with Slater joining in 2003\. (Kimmorley before Orford)
Don't think the team was built around Slater.

Inglis joined the Storm as a centre is 2005 - then moved to Souffs in 2011 as a centre. Moved to Full Back in 2012 and had a stellar year in 2013\. I think it was more Sam Burgess and the other brothers and along with Reynolds, Sutton and Luke that the team was built around - with Inglis as the one.

Anyway you have your opinion.

To clarify - I am saying I don't think any team has had a Full Back and not much else and then said - lets build a team around this guy. Usually there is more than half the spine and the rest added.
