Farah? Yeah, I can't see a bloke that never coached before making a difference.

Ciraldo only now 36yrs old and wouldn't have a third of Robbie's experience in the game. He was given an assistant role at Riff and made caretaker coach in 2018 when Griffin was punted and only a few yrs later considered head coach material.

It's about motivating and unlocking talent and belief in the younger playing group as much as it is teaching the technical aspects of the game. Robbie was always a hard trainer and willing to do whatever it took to win. Not many have a stronger passion for the Tigers than he does.

Ciraldo was asst coach of Penriths u20s for a year and then head coach for the next 2 years. They were minor premiers twice and won a comp. THEN he got the first grade asst job.

He has way more experience and success than Farah as a coach.

I guess the point I was getting at is I personally feel Robbie is made for coaching and although may not have the runs on the board coaching wise he is far superior to Ciraldo with on field experience. Knowing what it takes to succeed at an elite level for an entire career having played in and won a GF, Test series and Origin series.

Having a great playing career means little to being a coach. Pearce, Lamb, Potter abd Taylor all had great careers.

Gotta start somewhere though, Ricky Stuart definitely bucks that trend. To a degree Craig Fitzgibbon, Trent Barrett and Brad Fittler have too and that's just a few great players who've gone on with it as coaches.

Fair to say you have an argument for everything so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this.

Can't say I really have an opinion either way, but to be fair; Fitzgibbon has not yet been an NRL Head Coach, Trent Barrett has had 1 winning season since 2017 and Fittler took the Chooks from the penthouse to the outhouse in one season.
Being a head coach in the NRL is a tough gig.

For sure it's one of the toughest gigs going. I was more referencing coaches who've made the transition from great player. Trent Barrett had success involved with Riff, Fittler has tasted it at Origin level and Fitzy been there abouts amongst Origin and Roosters teams for a while.

No one is suggesting Farah be made the head coach. Just openly discussing his value to the team and the experience and passion he could bring having played at an elite level for majority of his career. I feel he could offer more to the team than just running messages and drinks on the field.

Let's find out in lower grades then. We're trying to help Madge, not giving him a bloke that's never coached anything.

Can't believe that some people that do not want Payten near the place are happy to promote Robbie to an assistant coach.

If Farah wants to be an assistant coach he should get some experience in the lower grades .. if we have not realised the failures of the past 3 seasons the club has to employer proven experienced assistants!

Not sure Payten would be so keen on giving up a head coach gig for an assistants role however hypothetically if he was available he wouldn't be the worst option. Has a history with the club and Sheens.

Still better than all Madges homies.

Yeah fair, I think he would definitely add something, maybe he can teach at least one of our players a short kicking game...

Let's see if Robbie wants a coaching job - if he does, give him the necessary scaffold and support (along with time) to ensure it's his career for the next 10-15 years.
Give him the opportunity to get all of his certificates and give him the 20's team. If successful, he follows them through (in good time) to 1st grade.
Build the whole thing from scratch - no quick fixes - be patient - and reap the rewards of a team who'll play for and with each other for years to come. Sell this to Robbie (with Sheens as his mentor) and you'll get buy-in.

Robbie doesn't do lower grades

We need to learn lessons and develop our own coaches. Former players or young coaches. Farah would be wise not too many as knowledgeable and a former captain.

That's how you do it.

I'd be looking at elevating Wayne Lambkin to the NRL coaching staff ..experienced respected junior coach .. knows pathways ..had the Flegg side humming..already in our system..

Both him and Gardiner are full time teachers though?

I'd keep Robbie on as a trainer and in a hooker coaching role for now. In the future, who knows

Seems as though people are under estimating the importance of that role.
During the season our most success came when Farah was there to relay the messages directly from the box to the field.
