Your preferred new WT coach?

I like Walters, particularly if Alf joins him, for a few reasons.

1) we have some talented young halves at the club. Who better to learn about the game at the top level from than these two?
2) Walters has extended his apprenticeship under Bellamy. There's a bloke who knows how to get a forward playing in a role that suits. Most agree Blair was all at see this season gone, I am sure Walters would know how to use him much better. This would also be an advantage for the younger guys on our roster
3) It would assist us in extending our scouting/recruitment deep into Queensland. These guys have more connections up there than WT does at the moment. It never hurts to cast the net wider for talent. Especially when your current recruitment philosophy is to throw cash at 30+ year olds on the downward slope.
4) Walters and Langer are winners by nature. Multiple premierships and SOO victories between them. They know what is required when the chips are down and also instill that desire to close out a game with intelligent football.
5) You get the above at a cheaper rate as Walters is yet to be a head coach at NRL level.

I would seriously doubt Langer would come to the club. He is a very well paid water boy at the Broncos and is a passionate Broncos man.

He and his family live in Caloundra and he owns a successful restaurant called 'Alfies' there. Given our financial situation can't see us offering him huge money which would need to happen for him to even contemplate moving.

I like point 3 especially…well thought out

At this stage of the game Tigers need a coaching combination of expereince and youth.

I believe that Tigers defensive problems began when Royce Simmons left the club to go to the U.K. He has high respect throughout the Tigers club. Royce Simmons as coach would definitely add a high level of coaching value to the Tigers. If Royce Simmons is unavaialble Tigers should go for the experinced Daniel Anderson as Head coach.

On the youth side Kevin Walters would make a brilliant Assistant coach. He would be likely to be enticed to Tigers in this capacity if Tigers offer him a contract with a clear vision to become Tigers Main coach within 2 years.

Nice first post Roycie, sorry no cigar

Its really hard picking a coach…. Its impossible to predict or understand who works well for each club. Brian Clough won the Champions League TWICE IN a ROW with Notts Forrest... went to Leeds one year after they had just won the League and he lasted 60 days before being sacked.

If you get someone to come in and get everyone pulling on the same rope again we'll find success. We don't need some elder, mentor, daddy type at the club. We need someone fresh new and motivated. Can we please get back to the spirit of 2005 again. That us against them mentality that seemed to bring everyone together.

I'd say we have enough experience. Marshall, Farah, Lawrence, Keithy... these guys are all experienced rep players now. Lets get a good, smart, young coach, lets bring in some of our kids who seem to be doing really well and just kick on to bigger and brighter things.

Has anyone considered Brett kimmorley?

We have always lacked Coaching direction in the halves(rates miller highly and could really develop his game)
Was the best at kick chase in his playing day which needs to be drilled in the tigers
Has a great footy brain( watch him on fox shows and calling games)

BRADFORD Bulls coach Mick Potter has been named coach of the Year in ESL. Seems to have a good Résumé.

In my opinion won't happen Walters as head coach possibly , but not Blondie as his assistant

Too much hijinx for my liking

To be fair i think i'll setttle for any of the coaches mentioned. They've all got upsides and downsides. However if i'm to choose one i'm going with Brown. He's well respected in league circles and has had done well in the ESL. I also think he brings the right balance to the club. He's young enough, yet experienced enough. I don't think experience is a key commodity in this decision. We've got Farah, Marshall, Galloway, Blair, Lawrence, Fulton, Anasta on the books. That's plenty of top shelf experience, so it shouldn't be a deciding factor.

I think we're looking at the coach's strengths and weaknesses. He's got to be proven at implementing defensive structures. Walters, Folkes, Anderson and Parish are well served here. I'm actually not sure about Brown on this level. I think after Sheens, we also need to look at a coach who has a strong, professional approach to man management. Remember. When when Sheens came here it was a long term plan. This time it's different. The squad just needs a shift in focus. To be schooled for a slightly different viewpoint.

Agree with the assessment but it is a MASSIVE ask not to mention risk on our part to hire him to coach NRL with zero coaching experience (AFAIK anyway). Maybe a good idea as a halves coach but he'd need to get some runs on the board before he became an NRL coach.

i have said this in the past on here , he will make a very good coach in a few more years , he speaks well on the game and tactics , 2 years

we have the advantage in 2013 in that we have half a coach on the field already in Anasta- cool head, we only really need half a coach in the stands. Mick Potter fits the bill. Did somebody say that he is in town?
