Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The locals told me the surf is tame near the surf club, if I want to surf I need to head around the point to the south or a little further up the beach north, maybe 400m
That's about right. The break at the surf club is great for learners and novices. Definitely the best spot if you are going for a swim every morning. Middle Rock which is about 2 klms north along the beach is the best spot for the more experienced.

Nice cafe above the surf club. Have often sat out on the balcony with a coffee and watched the waves rolling in. Let us know when you are coming up, we can get down to Bonny Hills Tavern for a few cold ones.

Mate.

There’s no reward.

He isn’t earning more money.

He is owed the entire contract. We have paid forward portions. Which in turn give us salary cap space later on.

Most clubs will do this in some way. It just so happens our player went overseas for a period in between, which draws more attention to this.

He is still guaranteed the full amount of his entire contract. And now the next two years when we have the extra recruits and are recruiting, we have 200k and 250k extra to play with.
Pretty sure we would have come out a little in front... the Pommy club would have kicked in for his time spent over there.

Given Cronulla's salary cap issues a somewhat unknown front rower such as Tukupa-Ke Hau Tapuha could be a cheapy and worth considering. He is 22 years old, 114kg and 196cm and has played the odd NRL game for the Sharks this year when injuries have struck. From what I have seen he has potential (I know that is a dangerous word to use) but given his age and the number of front rowers in front of him at the Sharks he may be looking for other opportunities.

We plucked Marty Taupau out of the dogs reserve grade , and for a while there he was one of the best in the game .
May for the roosters this year is another example .
I guess it would come down to how much they rate our guys over external guys , factoring loyalty and other intangibles as well .
But Marty was cut by Des . Then came here killer , and Our infinitely incredible legends who ran the club both in the coaching staff and the front office decided he wasn’t worth the pay upgrade …. Idiots .

The thing with Bateman is if we paid him say $700k this year, plus forward paid him $450k from future years into this year, and he earned $450k from playing in the super league, it means he was paid $1.6m this year. From a cash flow perspective, I don’t believe any player in the history of rugby league has ever had $1.6m of cash flow in a single season from on field earnings only. Not even in the Super League era?

I know the numbers are approximate and I know what has been forward paid he was owed anyway but I am talking about cash flow.

This would be right up there with the biggest rort of the century given Batemans’s output.
This is not how it went down.

Warrington would only have paid a portion of his salary that we were supposed to pay him. The total for the year would have been his initial contract amount of $800k + $450k advanced payment. The percentage of what Warrington paid to him of this amount we don't know, but the total paid to Bateman would only be 1.25 million.

He can't get double paid while on loan.

That would be a great signing that I’ve been wanting all year, could be 1 of the best bench front rowers in the comp over the next few years + on a cheap deal

thought I suddenly became dislexic reading this I genuinely have 0 idea of what this guy is saying

WestsTigers2025 Finals
I’ve been trying to decipher posts for years. It’s my daily riddle to keep my mind sharp and the side effect is that I can now read Egyptian Hyrogliphics.
In amongst it all you get the odd post that is the funniest thing you’ll read all week.
You’ll get better at it.
Welcome to the forum, I like your username. But if we make the finals next year you’ll have to change it to 26, then 27, 28, and 29, etc. so you don’t jinx us to miss a year.
Four final series in a row. How good would that be. The best I’ve had is two I think. I’m not sure two makes a row?

But hopefully the tax man took half of it which would be justified due to his half arsed efforts. 🤣
