That’s a very generous valuation for a club at or near rock bottom. I’d be interested to know what HBG value the club at, given they are not a profit driven set up.
and driving the joint into the ground with their silence, stalling the independent 's on the board etc etc, sometimes wonder if this is just a charade to get the NRL to buy them out ,and they charge on going rent for the junior base,2many opinions hurt the brain, as suggested earlier

In their defence, the system has worked flawlessly. The club board up until the last 6 months has been stable for the last near 70 years.
Yep, and the club was booted twice from the comp, and we are currently the ongoing joke of the league. Done wonders.
It's allowed the club to grow and build their current premises (I think in the 1980's), then extend and build the car park in the 2010's....and have the capital to buy Campbelltowns shares in WTs in 2012, bailout Balmain to the tune of $8.5 million in 2016, and then a further $3.2m bailout in 2020/2021 (the Amalgamation).

Changes nothing to what I’ve said.
The club routinely donates significant monies to local organisations directly or via the Club Grants system.
That’s nice.
Have your own opinion of their ownership of Wests Tigers, but when you consider their financial performance at club level, the board has worked well, the club has grown and has thrived. Aside from the performance of a part owned football club, the board has performed well.
I’m judging in the disasters that the sporting entities have endured over these decades.
Plus the two times kicked out.
Not sure how that can be questioned.
Yay they have money, now.
No ...I'm not a member
Yeah but I’m not sure if you aren’t related to these entitled fools.

Speaking individually here, and not for Wests Tigers Unite.

The more I now know, in other words the more secrets I’ve been exposed to, the more I now realize that the people running this club for 25 years have a. Not been properly skilled b. Not been honest about their intentions.

We had may as well hand the license back if we’re going to keep going around on this entirely useless merry go round of Balmain and Wests.

Divided we fall, we’re falling people and it’s over two clubs that died 25 years ago.

The foundation clubs are mill stones around our neck and always have been.

It’s time to break up with our parents and their toxicity and go out into the world to start our own life.

Yep. Force the sale.

How do we get rid of them? They are both owners and both have a rep on the board.
Fans need to accept you can’t just stamp your feet and get what you want.
Honestly looking at it objectively, Balmain contribute absolutely nothing anymore. They're already gone. HBG since taking a controlling stake have run the joint into the ground. My point is every single seat in the Wests Tigers boardroom should be taken up by a Wests Tigers representative only. Not from Balmain not from HBG, I don't care who founded it I don't care how much they tip into the joint.
If these two proud foundation clubs were as worried about their history and heritage in the 90s as much as they drivel on with it now maybe they wouldn't have needed to merge, but they had to merge. They've had their chance and as far as I'm concerned they should both be left in history and forgotten about

An interesting read.

Tl;dr Snyder ran the club into the ground and was useless. Fan backlash and the constant inquisitions eventually forced his hand. The difference is HBG exists really only to act as the owners of the Tigers and individually are all probably self obsessed enough to dig their heels in. But I really feel the direction here should be trying to achieve a similar goal.

The first question is who. I heard rumours that Harry Triguboff had designs on buying the club as a legacy for his son. Celebrity fan consortium ala Souths?

Kind of can tbh. The fans of the club are the primary commercial stakeholder of the club. No fans equals no revenue. There are a fair few examples of fans coming together to "stamp their feet" and get their way when it comes to change in sports clubs. Even in the NRL there are examples.

The south’s takeover begun from an unofficial fan forum called the Rabbitoh Warren .

Killing off George Piggins took some doing but it transformed south’s from a chook raffle club to one of the strongest in the NRL

Crowdsourcing a takeover and turning the Tigers into the NRL version of the Packers would be pretty funny but there would be so many complexities. I'd suggest you'd need lawyers to draft up a whole lot of documents outlining the laws of the club under such an ownership group. You'd need that before the NRL humoured it. Then you'd need the NRL themselves to find cause to force the sale (which by the sounds of what Joel alludes to they could probably find under the couch). At that point you could take the campaign public but at that point cashed up buyers would fall out of the trees anyway I feel.

I think that the direct action we should be taking is lobbying the NRL to revoke their right to the franchise. With as incompetent as they've been I would be stunned if there isn't evidence somewhere of illegal shit.

I think he’s referring to the group who owns the club who the majority want gone.
Sorry GNR I changed my response. Irrespective of who's putting money in. I cannot see how having a HBG rep on a board for the Wests Tigers is right.
If your on the Tigers board your there as a Tigers rep. Not a HBG rep because they're chipping money in.
Same as Stapelton, why should he get a board seat because he's from Balmain. He's taking a Wests Tigers seat as a Balmain rep, it's wrong. Every seat should be taken by and only by people there with Wests Tigers as their priority.
Both HBG and Balmain and wests rugby league and anyone else not Wests Tigers should not be allowed onto the board.

Gonna need ten times more than what they have so far
