2012-2013 Football (Sokkah) Thread

Channel 9 getting stuck into the football fans after last night. Apparently having a large group marching to the stadium singing songs is disgusting behaviour. A few flares were let off, but it was all harmless. I was pretty much right in the middle of the RBB and at no point did I feel like I was in any danger of getting hurt (nor did any of the people around us, which included a lot of younger females.

I was just off the middle of the RBB and most of it was harmless and fun stuff. The walks down Church St are great fun and all those other citizens around Parramatta are interested and excited for the crowd. We may chant loudly, walk across a few red lights and stop traffic. But to my knowledge there hasn't been any antisocial or criminal behaviour.
I did however not like when a flare was thrown in very close proximity to a ball girl. It almost hit her and they are extremely hot missiles. A young girl should not need to worry about that when assisting at a soccer game.
I saw a seat or two behind held up at full time too which isn't really required either.

Allan in terms of violent behaviour all I saw was just outside central we past a bar full of Sydney fans. One of them came out and threw a chair at the RBB and a few RBB members dusted him up pretty quickly. Whole thing lasted about 10-15 seconds before the police came in with pepper spray.

I didn't see the flare nearly hit the ball girl, but that is certainly not on. To me it seems like a storm in a teacup.

Mate, you cant make light of flares being tossed around near large crowds…..imagine one hitting and getting tangled up in a girls long hair, or someone wearing something flammable....its unacceptable, unnecessary and dangerous

Flares, chairs thrown out of bars at other fans… It might seem like small beer to some but both of the potential to seriously injure people especially the flares. I mean seriously leave this BS for Europe and South America. You can support your team without resorting to this kind of rubbish. Flares are never justified at a sporting venue - it's dumb, it's dangerous, it's been done... One of the things that makes this country great is that you can go to a game and sit next to an opposing fan. Okay even at RL or AFL games you might get the odd punch-ups but nothing organised just two half-tanked bozos getting a bit heated. The day I have to sit in a designated away supporters area, fenced off and heavily police to keep the home fans away, is the day I stop going to games.

If soccer/football wants to be taken seriously and expand in this country it needs to forget this psuedo-Euro "firms" crap...

Whether you're a football fan or not, I think everyone needs to watch this movie about Hillsborough. The way these poor families were treated was just disgusting. I still cant believe that people in positions of trust can be so cruel and disgusting.

If you want to see the worst (softest) red card handed out this season watch the highlights of Hammers v Everton game

Cole has eyes for the ball , makes contact with the ball and then contacts the player

Penalty yes ,yellow card probably But it turns the game on its head and costs us at least a point ,if not 3 and with our massive injury toll we will now lose another striker for 3 weeks :brick:

The quicker FIFA make the decision to use video evidence the better :rant

That was a shocker Happy, and the red for Gibson at the death was just as bad, leaves us another CM down coming into a congested part of the season. Both cards should be rescinded. Glad to get out of there with the 3 points.

MM the big difference was that Everton played for about 90 seconds with 10 men

We played for 35 minutes Wrecked a really good game imo

There was plenty of shockers, Osman's disallowed goal was another howler that would have had a big influence on the game as well.

Muller made that look effortless.

I was thinking about this but

Muller is Blake Ayshford.

Infuriating to watch, as he can do shit like that, but he can't control the ball.

Jeez, as a long suffering Sydney FC fan, finally watched their best performance in a long time last night with a patient 1-0 win over the league leading Mariners.

Really felt for Rhyan Grant when he hit the cross bar from the left, if anyone deserved to score the match winner, it was him.

Both have been bitterly disappointing. Brisbane have no excuse sitting where they are, given they still have the likes of Broich, Berisha etc and Sydney's season may have been a little different if Farina was hired from the outset. ADP has pretty much singlehandedly kept Sydney's season alive.

Sydney is only 3 points outside the six and Brisbane two points. If they both keep winning there's no reason why either side can't make the finals.
