Alex Twal #206

When asked what his goals were, playing for NSW or whatever ?

He said, honestly - I just want to play finals with the Tigers.

Let’s not make a federal case fella’s. I happen to really like him and rate him highly. No need to wet your pants. I doubt he’d care about what I said, so why should any of you?

It's 2022 mate.
You aren't allowed to say anything remotely offensive or that may be considered remotely offensive.

Was absolutely superb last night, had worries with Twal the last 18 months as imo he has been poor and hasn’t hit those levels he had during the Cleary era as he barely ran the ball and lacked much impact.

However, you can tell he wants to make more of an impact attacking wise and looked really hungry for the ball which we’ve never really seen from him and he carved there forwards up with the metres he was making! Really inspiring game from him, played like our forward leader and seems like he’s developing his game to the player we all know he can be!

Liking what I saw, could play himself into an origin squad if he can continue to contribute to his attack game and not rely solely on his defence....

He's our best forward
⭐

I know you show big love for your Lebanese Demps, But that statement is ridiculous.
He's our most consistent - Nothing more.
He's never been our best by any reckoning....

I know as fact, Most other top forwards in the game don't rate him at all, not hard to tackle, doesn't hit in Defence, No aggression, Nothing to worry about in attack... He's so 1 dimensional its not funny....

Great guy, Works hard, I Love him to bits... But he's coming into his 6th year in Grade and has added absolutely nothing to his game - Bar minutes played.

If he's our "best" forward, Then you best not worry bagging any of the other players - ever... Because we're going nowhere if he's our best forward, No matter who the halfback is.

He should be a bench prop, That's his best position - At any other club, He might not even be that....

Agree and should be so. Just that he’s a forum favourite was all I was eluding to.
Even slater in his last year was talking in an interview about improving an aspect of his game. Professionalism at its best

Utoikamanu, arguably.

That's it...

Some good prospects coming through.

Still think Twal is our best, take it however you want.. consistency, effort, etc

Stef is about to be a big deal though.
Anyone who doesn't know him will after this year, I reckon.

Hopefully we lock him down long term.

Stef was better last year,
Luciano they year before...
Matterson - Even Farah back before then...

I got no real issue with him, He tries...
But his walk up starts because he can tackles and work hard, coupled with the fact there's been no one else have made him complacent. at his age over the last 4 years, He should have been really looking to change up his game - He's not - And that's a problem!!

If we're all going to bag Brooks 5 tackles and a bomb, We should also be looking at things like Twals 8m Carrys, Bugger all offloads, No passes, hardly and line breaks, No collecting numbers in contact, play the ball speed or lack of it... And plenty of other things.

Surely his work ethic can be harnessed toward improving his game somewhat... He's played footy since he was a kid - Surely he knows how to pass, step or change up his game.

As he says, His whole family are footy nuts - Do they not see how far behind all the other top forwards his game is?

I would argue we're stronger with Twal on the bench - To hold the middle after the first stint, Coming on when there's some gas taken out of the game.
If Twal was coming on at prop after the first 20, I think it would go a long way to holding us together in the middle during the time when we usually start to crumble.

I would also be bringing Twal on as the first interchange and leaving him on for the remaining 55/60mins.

He always puts in the effort, still, unless there is something more dynamic left to unlock from Alex I would prefer to utilise those with it in shorter stints whilst he acts as a sponge soaking up opposition energy to allow it.
