Is THAT even a thing, though?

Who knows what the thing is, right?

It's not about money apparently, we have that covered.

It's not about loyalty or junior football or family ties to the region or being a hero of the region, we have that covered too.

It might have been about Jason Taylor, maybe Tedesco would have signed on if JT stayed. He had good things to say, we won't know if that was just lip service. But if Tedesco had concerns about the direction the Tigers were going and if we'd play regular finals football, surely when JT got axed Tigers would have talked to Tedesco and told him about their plan, to sign Cleary etc.

So Tedesco had not signed elsewhere (reportedly) when Cleary was signed and brought in, so he's had time to experience the new vision and coaching style. So obviously he doesn't rate Cleary, because if he had issues about stability and club direction, well you'd think he'd give the new guy a chance. But by all reports he's jumped ship within 1-2 weeks of that coach change.

Maybe he just always wanted to leave and it's taken this long to find clubs willing to pony up the kind of cash Tigers were offering.

We don't know anything about behind the scenes, but facts are Tigers are 2-1 since Cleary joined and 2/3 of our wins since he joined. The Parramatta game should have been won, it really should have been undefeated since Cleary joined. There's been a clear turn-around at the club, some key players have re-signed, Cleary presents well and is winning over the fans.

So if that isn't a positive turn-around, and honestly quite a rapid one, under the circumstances, then I don't know what is. Maybe it's become evident that for Tigers to sign the kinds of players to really turn the club culture around, we need the kind of money Tedesco and Woods absorb, and these new plans are only really possible with them moving on.

The interesting thing is that in an interview in the last 10 days Cleary made the comment, in response to a question about the offers made to Teddy and Woods, that "some people dont like changes". I found that a fascinating comment coming from a relative outsider. It suggests to me that even Cleary was surprised about how precious these young blokes are.

I got the feeling that Cleary was suggesting that Teddy and Woods didnt like the fact that the club pulled the offer from Moses. Its funny how players complain about the failures of the last 5 years but when the club makes the necessary changes to fix this, they also complain. It as if they think that somehow things can be magically fixed without any change.

Precious? That's an understatement
As others have suggested, the finger pointing at the club has started. I read an interview with woods where he stated point blank that by putting a deadline on his contract we had forced his hand and virtually had to sign elsewhere as WT obviously didn't want him. He told the club he wasn't ready to make a decision before the clubs deadline date and therefore when they pulled he was forced to sign elsewhere.
Whoever interviewed however didn't ask why after 9 months he wasn't ready or why within a week of the club pulling his offer he was ready to sign elsewhere? Nope, all the clubs fault though :crazy

I think this is the interview on Sports Breakfast 26/04

Yep well it is a big decision. He doesnt have to move or uproot the missus. All he has to consider is where are the good coffee joints in belmore? Prob take 9 months to find ??.

Seriously though he dug his own grave. Does he honestly think we could keep on waiting on him to make a decision? Its selfish that he hasdragged it on so long. I can understand if he was moving interstate.. But hes not even moving house. what a joke.

Josh Reynolds signed in one week.
woods wanted more time after having a contract for 9 months..

Thank god hes pissing off.

Still haven't quite accepted Tedesco is going. I mean, I know he is so in a sense I've accepted the factual reality. But emotionally I think I'll still be devastated. We can win premierships without him for sure. The fact is though he is going to be in the top handful of players in his generation, and as a spectacle, there are few better players to watch. Haven't enjoyed watching someone in a Tigers jersey as much since early years Benji Marshall, and is going to take someone special to replace the excitement I feel when I watch Teddy at his best. Ah well.

Just remember that Easts, just like Brisbane, have so many 'sponsors' that they usually get their man. The ones they do miss out on choose to stick with their current club. Tedesco, like Fittler, won't remember where it all started for him in 10 years.

Don't forget it's Easts, mainly, who pull the plug on releasing TPA info and are deadset against having clubs compensated for losing home grown juniors.

Don't need to remind me, I hate them. Roosters and Broncos are about the only clubs that are able to poach homegrown superstars from clubs who want to and have the salary cap available to keep that superstar. Says a lot about the TPAs in my opinion. I can't wait until that leech Politis is dead and the Roosters sink into oblivion.

EDIT: You are absolutely right though. He'll be like Fittler - identify as an Easts boy even though he will probably only 7 seasons before they transfer him into an off field role.

??

Can you please elaborate?

It seems roosters were able to sort out the TPA's and have lodged a new version of the contract with the NRL. Waiting to get the green light from NRL.

Once approved by the NRL does Tedesco then need to sign? Or has he already signed before Roosters put the contract to NRL for approval?

How does that work

Usually they sign then they lodge. For the most part clubs know the TPA rules. I haven't brushed up on them lately but it can't be more than $300k and one TP can't do multiple players I think? . Maybe someone can clarify that part for me.

We all know he's gone, just wish he would announce so I don't have to read any more unsubstantiated "he's staying" posts from Milky.
