Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

I work with a guy who is quite involved with the club (Roosters), and all he would say is that if Latrell doesn't decide to sign with the Tigers or Cowboys for 2020 then there is only one more option, which is reserve grade. I can't imagine the Rabbitohs would be in with a shot tbh, but like a few others on here I'm almost 50/50 whether I'd care for having him here or not. The pros and cons pretty well balance each other out. I'd lean more to having him here for the chance that he matures a little and shows a better attitude, and the signing itself being the first marquee in a while for our club would be quite exciting.

He has an opportunity to basically double his income for next year if he comes here. If money is a motivating factor I'm not sure why he would forego doubling his salary in one season.

Is that bloke from the podcast marinating his boots right now? Getting on in the day for a release announcement then a signing announcement.

I'm sure he's fine, great publicity for him either way

Latrell Mitchell to meet with Gold Coast Titans: Meninga
By WWOS staff

Gold Coast Titans' head of culture and performance Mal Meninga has confirmed the club's interest in Latrell Mitchell, vowing to help the Roosters star take his game to the next level as well as provide him the support he needs off the field.

"I think I can offer that guidance but Latrell needs to work out what he wants to do in life," Meninga told the Daily Telegraph.

"I understand where he is at in life as a 22-year-old with that profile. I believe I can help him."

The Titans are in a tussle with Wests Tigers to secure the signature of the Origin and Kangaroos standout and two-time Premiership winner.

Meninga didn't guarantee a fullback position for him at the Titans, but did confirm he had made contact with Mitchell about joining the Queensland side and the outgoing Rooster indicated a meeting was imminent.

"We are interested, absolutely," Meninga said.

"We want to get him up and have a chat to him. I've had a little chat with him.

"I just wanted to know if he was interested or not. He said, 'Yeah, we will come up and have a yarn'."

He is still certain the deal is DONE, and even claims the roosters release of Latrell is done.
His source is believed to be pretty high up within the ranks (at the tigers).
He is less confident of an announcement today but still confident the announcement is coming this week.

@Cultured_Bogan it’s true though . People come on here for informed discussion , and a genuine love of the tigers . Yet there’s no acknowledgement of the positive changes from some fans . I don’t want an echo chamber , but , clear miserable death riding contributes nothing.
If you want to say Lattrell isn’t worth it , or we should play Mbye here etc. that’s constructive discussion.
The tigers suck , Pascoe is useless , Brooks is crap, we will always suck ..... tell me how this is anything other than , a clear need to see a psychologist?

You could argue the same of the people who take hardlines on everything.

While I don't share the eternal pessimism of some, I understand why some WT fans feel that way and why they are wary about being positive for the future. We have been let down so many times over the years by this club and bar 2005 and 2010-11, we have had zero to cheer about.

Lastly, the forum has a foe function. You don't want to see the people who are regularly negative, foe them. Don't demand their silence because it doesn't meet your views.

I guess I fall into the 1st category , but I need to see proof to be convinced

Off field we can see changes that are positive , on field nothing positive has happened since 2011

We see what worked in 2011 , yet we haven't got near that recruitment wise ever since

Everyone is claiming Madge is the answer , I remain unconvinced yet ,he needs to meet some criteria 1st for my vote and Finals footy is a must

Meninga can do great with Mitchell up here on the Gold Coast, seeing as though hes been doing such a great job so far. The Titans are a rabble, Meninga i have no idea what he is supposed to be doing but what ever his position is in terms of performance and culture he isnt too flash. Personally think Meninga was johnny on the spot with a QLD team who prob are the best league team up till now ever assembled, couldve been coached by anyone and they wouldve 10 series, he just jumped ship cause he knew the team were getting on, he cant live off origin forever i reckon hes overrated.

@Newtown - Well, one thing is for sure. Mitchell has certainly not yet signed with WT as some claim. If he had, this behaviour would not be tolerated and would be unethical.

**Latrell Mitchell to meet Titans after Mal Meninga says club are ‘absolutely’ interested in signing him**

November 26, 2019 1:48pm by STAFF WRITERS Source: FOX SPORTS

Latrell Mitchell is set to meet with Gold Coast powerbrokers after the club’s head of culture and performance Mal Meninga confirmed interest in the star centre.

The Titans have emerged as a threat to Wests Tigers’ chances of signing Mitchell, and Meninga believes the club can take the Kangaroos representative’s game to another level, while also providing off-field support.

“I think I can offer that guidance but Latrell needs to work out what he wants to do in life,” Meninga told The Daily Telegraph.

“I don’t know about parallel lives, but I understand where he is at in life as a 22-year-old with that profile. I believe I can help him.”

Meninga revealed he’d already had a phone conversation with Mitchell and that new Titans coach Justin Holbrook would likely meet the Roosters star in the coming days.

Mitchell is reportedly keen to switch to fullback, but Meninga wasn’t able to guarantee him the position at the Titans like the Tigers have done in their negotiations.

“We are interested, absolutely,” Meninga said.

“We want to get him up and have a chat to him. I’ve had a little chat with him.

“I just wanted to know if he was interested or not. He said, ‘Yeah, we will come up and have a yarn’.”

Mitchell has been linked with a host of clubs and last week met with North Queensland.

Cowboys coach Paul Green said the club were still keen on Mitchell despite finalising a six-year multimillion-dollar deal with Valentine Holmes.

“That wasn’t wasting anyone’s time,” Green said.

“We were up front with all parties about the situation with Valentine, they knew about that.

“Those conversations with Latrell are still ongoing. We weren’t playing any games there.”

It is unclear how much salary cap space the Cowboys have left after inking the cashed up Holmes deal with North Queensland stars Michael Morgan and Jason Taumalolo also on lucrative contracts.

And there is a question mark over where Mitchell, who is keen to play fullback next season, would fit into the Cowboys backline with Holmes set to feature in the No.1 jersey.

Wests Tigers appear to be the favourites to snare Mitchell, reportedly tabling a four-year, $3.8 million offer for him to be their new fullback.

I know people are getting angry at Latrell , if you were in his shoes would you play it differently

He has at least 4 clubs openly chasing him ....if I thought I could get another 100 k / year if I left it a week ....I'd sit on the back vernadah twiddling my thumbs ......wouldn't you ?? Seriously ???
