Tim Sheens as interim coach, make it look like he will be long term coach to help sign a few players, then be somewhat patient finding a coach.

So we're going to be patient in finding a new coach, but not patient in overhauling the roster? 🤔

The club can sack Madge, they will not see success here until the team grows a spine. They cannot do the basics right and they fold under the slightest amount of pressure. Weak.

This club is poison. Had all sorts of coaches over the years. Even our best coach could only manage 3 finals series in 10 seasons.

Yeah but it was better than our last 10. At least we new we were in for a shot every time too. Even if we made it this year we would have been making up the numbers.

Who in our team has improved under Madge in the 3 years he has been here. Maybe Steph but the argument could be that he is just getting more minutes as apposed to coaching development. Happy to stand corrected but i cant name 1.

Brent Read reporting Madge reached out to Vaughan only to discover he’d already signed at Dogs. Nice work team

Yep, it says a lot. We wouldn't have got him anyway it seems but Maguire could have enquired a lot earlier. Don't want to be repetitive but in my opinion we will not improve until we get rid of Hartigan, Maguire and Pascoe.

it sounds like Hartigan may be a bit of the problem

I believe Hartigan is doing a fine job. We have some of the best juniors in our ranks because of his ability and eye for talent He can only recruit the players and it is up to the coaching staff to develop them.

Fails in every single one of his ‘big time’ negotiations. Picks up the scraps.

Laurie, Stefano and Simpkin are hardly scraps.

Everyone keeps mentioning these three. Last year they were other clubs scraps. Good on them for turning into consistent first graders here. Truly.but they were scraps.

Just like Harry Grant was scraps running around q cup behind Cam Smith?

Just like RTS was scraps and couldn't get a run ahead of Miniciello?

Just like Sam Walker was scraps because the Broncos didn't offer him a deal?

Juniors that can't break into a side with established first graders are not what I would define as 'scraps'. They simply get more opportunity in a squad like ours because it lacks those established first graders, so the door is wide open.

TomAto tomato, point is we can’t sign any players that are elite. In a salary cap sport where it’s supposed to be even, THAT is the issue.

So give him a Juniors job where he belongs he is out of his depth another pascoe fail

The NRL coach has huge influence over recruitment of NRL players. You only have to look at Bennett and Bellamy as examples.

Realistically regardless of who we sign we’re not going to improve until we have Madge and his assistants replaced. We lost to a team last night that had won once in 8 weeks and had three of their best players out.

Pretty much any coach would be an upgrade at this point.

Madge totally lost me last night with his statement that the first half was "good".
When asked if losing Laurie was a big blow he sort of shrugged and stated that we looked good with Mbye at fullback.
Those 2 things were enough to wash away any lingering hope that maybe he does know what he's doing.
I can cop losses if we look like we are showing signs of coached improvement. We just aren't.
On the bright side I loaded up on the Warriors as soon as Mbye was picked to start. It ain't personal. It's just business.

This makes me feel like, he too, much like the players... simply does not care.
He gets paid no matter the result.

Happy to have a laugh and say some silly stuff like this and go home to bed.

I am not impressed.

Betting slip with date and time or it didn’t happen

Excellent idea

Madges post match pressers are pure regurgitation of the same stuff said in different ways every week. I understand his hands are tied somewhat but there appears to be no hard truths or honesty, besides one week saying he needs men.

Right, so the issue is with the salary cap then, not with us or the fact we buy 'scraps' after all?

Some people blame the coach, others the players. But they're both hopeless. Next season has Newcastle 2016 vibes about it. We have a lot further to fall. Things could get very ugly for the club.

The first thing you need to look at is the roster .. it’s the best roster the club has had with Maguire as coach obviously not the greatest… was the roster good enough to make the 8 this season IMO yes .
So with that why have they failed once again ?
It’s not real hard to see where the problem is ..Maguire needs to be removed by seasons end there is no other way !

Cleary is the only good coach we've had since Sheens. Potter comes second.

Cleary is a good coach but he killed us with his signings. Madge has massive flaws as a coach because the team isn't performing to it's ability. The thing is Madge hasn't stuffed us with dud recruits.

This to me is the crux of the problem. Madge can't seem to coach however I think we are overhauling the roster in a positive fashion.

We need a coach who can coach but we have to maintain the recruitment and retention approach that we have been utilizing.

I'm under no illusion that Madge is a part of the problem. We should have taken two hookers into last night's game. Evident at the end with Offa playing the ball to no one. Constant selection of Mbye. Hasn't dropped Nofoaluma once this year.

Having said that, he's ultimately not responsible for players having poor ball security, not kicking the 10 on a line drop out or being in position to cover. Playing the ball properly, not getting bundled over the sideline, inability to stick in a tackle and poor options to shoot for a 40m field goal.

Our team has gotten worse each year under Madge's coaching, the NRL analysts can't actually tell what sort of game we try play, what our game plans are, because we have none.
We have an abysmal defensive structure, with some players sliding, some rushing up, there is no method to the madness.
In attack we have players running in to each other, passes going to the feet of players, over the sideline, we can have 5 sets on an opponents try line without looking like scoring.
It is not just one or two players tanking, not one player seems to know what they are supposed to be doing in both defence and attack, and that is 100% a coaching issue, or lack of coaching issue.
The players look like it is the first training run after the offseason, not 20 rounds deep in to the coaches third season in charge, there is absolutely no improvement in attack or defence, and there is absolutely no reason for Madge not to be sacked
