The Board is split down the middle about this & have asked for “further information”.
As everyone here could guess the information released a few hours ago is from a particular board member not in Madges favour. Hoping media pressure will sway those in his corner to punt him.
Review looked good for Madge & as someone said previous the fact they aren’t taking the review information on board & making the opposite decision anyway, makes this whole situation more Farcical than it already was.

Yeah info coming out of the club changes depending who you speak to, that is why media reports go back and forth.

Exactly right, the indecisiveness of this whole thing highlights some of the greater issues.
Imagine delivering a review stating that he should & then end with a “but what if”

Hmm right. Honestly not sure what to think if Madge is gone. By all reports he had the majority of player support, but maybe being told that Ciraldo or someone perceived to be better than Madge changed minds?

I agree. The question has to be asked IF and it's big if, Madge looked like he was going to survive, what has happened in the last 48hrs or so for the mood shift from the Board?

But who said there’s even been a board shift? This whole thing seems to be a whole lot of speculation from the media and fans.

According to Pom, the review recommended Madge stay, partly because that's what the players wanted. And the review would be presented to the board on Wednesday. So if Pom was right looks like the board wasn't happy with the findings of the review. In which case why even have a review if you just want one outcome.

I heard the board wanted a further independent review done on Pascoe and Hartigan's roles hence the further delay

Hoops: Maguire’s messy divorce from Tigers is nearly done... and this was the final straw

James Hooper from Fox Sports
September 19th, 2021 6:34 pm

The messy divorce between the Wests Tigers and premiership-winning coach Michael Maguire is expected to be finalised this week.

Aside from the debacle of the 38-0 loss to Canterbury-Bankstown in round 25 the other telling reason why the Tigers are tipped to make the tough decision is the club’s inability to sign players.

The Wests Tigers eight-member board still need to convene in an official capacity and vote on Maguire’s exit but the decision appears obvious considering the club has gone backwards over the course of the last three seasons.

While everyone in the game has the utmost respect for Maguire’s work ethic and passion the Tigers have been told in no uncertain terms about why the club is struggling to sign players.

It’s easy to be critical of the Wests Tigers board for rubberstamping Maguire’s two-year extension last December and now backflipping but the club was clearly simply looking for stability.

The Tigers backed Maguire and increased the club’s football department spend this year but the on-field results have failed to deliver.

Maguire has also had a huge voice in terms of who the club signs over the course of the last three seasons but the reality is the roster needs a major overhaul.

The Tigers are a development club who fell asleep at the steering wheel and have only recently taken steps to stop the rot.

The two individuals who the majority of members and supporters roll their eyes about are CEO Justin Pascoe and head of football Adam Hartigan.

Pascoe has presided over every disaster at Concord dating back to September 2015 and the widely-spread view among most NRL clubs is he only survives because of his close rapport with Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis.

Hagipantelis is a hugely-successful self-made businessmen who clearly loves the club but the view among members and supporters is tough decisions need to be made.

The first one is expected to come later this week when the club votes to remove Maguire and most likely pursue highly-regarded Penrith assistant Cameron Ciraldo.

Once things begin to take shape the Tigers are then expected to appoint head of football performance Tim Sheens into a coaching director role where the four-time premiership-winner will sit with his eyes above everything in the football department.

Sheens can fix the Tigers.

The club’s got over $1.5 million still to spend on their NRL roster for next season and with the right people in the right positions there is light at the end of a very long tunnel.

If Maguire goes as expected then the next question fans will want answered is when is Pascoe’s time up?

The clock’s ticking.

Any news on the who will replace him if he is moved on?

Depends who you ask, no “established” coach wants to be under another former head coach looking over their shoulder.
A rookie learning off Sheens could be a dream combination but apart from Ciraldo there’s no one really out there. A super League coach wouldn’t be ideal either. That whole competition isn’t so defensively driven like the NRL.

I hope Ciraldo changes his mind and wants to have a go.

This is the fundamental problem with the club and the root cause of most of our issues. The Board is not united and when a Board member isn’t happy and disagrees with decision goes to the media to press their case. So we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again because we can’t agree. Stability and support of decisions made at the Board level is the problem with the club.

So if one of the issues is he couldn’t attract players, what hope do one of those Pommy coaches have. If we want to attract players, there’s only 2 options. Bennett, and as much as I hate him, Flanagan.

Wolfe has a good relationship with tamalolo perhaps if we got him he might be able to try and get talmalolo to kick stones and break his cowboys deal

Looks like the Board is doing what a lot of fans want...in that case they should be sitting with them..

People cry about recruitment but can’t see that we’ve signed:
Future starting origin forward
The best fullback we’ve had since Tedesco
Got one of Queensland’s best hookers into our system and left on a good note opening a potential return from the storm
Got Shaun blore playing 80 minutes well
Had the nsw cup team up in the top 3 off his signings
One of Queensland’s u20s best rated young hookers in Simpkin
The youth this bloke has got us is insane and potentially sets us up well for the next few years what’s the point in these guys staying when they signed for Madge

"Potential return from the Storm"

Mate we wasted a year with Harry Grant. Instead of developing our own hooker, we helped Melbourne out by giving their next decade long hooker a year of development without any pressure. Hahaha how don't you see this?

We literally didn't have a hooker.

The fact that we didn't have a single hooker we could play from our own reserves is a really sad reality for our club.

injuries and the new bloke wasn't ready yet. It was a smart move by the club. Buy a hooker and restrict the opportunity for Jake Simpkin in the future, or borrow a hooker for a year and develop Jake Simpkin. It was a great decision by the club.

I don't see how it helped us long term at all. We should really have had another player that could play hooker on the books. We just prepper Harry Grant for Melbourne thinking we'd have any chance of keeping him. The club and the people who run it at delusional.

It helped both Jacob and Jake by allowing them the time they needed to be ready for NRL.
