Thoughts on Cooper Cronk as an assistant coach?..he has a good footy brain of the modern game

I would take him, even just as a halves consultant. He does really good work on leadership as well so could be good for developing leadership in guys like AD.

People know he works already for both the Storm and Roosters in consultancy roles as well as Fox

He won't wreck his legacy and come here .....

Didn't we have Head, and Kimmorley as a halves developers?

Head is doing good things as an assistant somewhere ...pity he didn't stay

Madge hasn't taken a team to finals since 2015. In 2017 he took the Rabbitohs to 12th place, the year after Anthony Seibold took over who's a terrible coach and got essentially the same roster to finish third.

Hopefully he breaks his streak next season.

Needs to reinvent himself

What do you suggest?

The tough guy act didn't work as the players all sulked and brought out their egg shells nonsense.

The nice guy act didn't work either, seemed forced and fake, as seen on the doco.

Needs to just smarten up, bring in some big gun assistants and start shopping around the problem players that think they own the club. Until then, he's on the same track as the last 3 years.

The biggest thing he needs is a string leadership group to drive madges standards and do the talking for madge.

Finucane would if been great.
But from what's available now, I'd make sims a priority.

Give farah a greater role in coaching.

And bring in a young assistant. Gardiner? Hodge? Burgess?

Anyone been watching Sam Burgess on SAS? Natural born leader- you can see why he was a gun player.
Should send Brooks off to do that programme over the off season.

If there are limited options on available players with leadership on the market then not a bad option to target some gun recent ex players with high level leadership and passion to add to the coaching staff somewhere to mentor the young guys with standards, passion, resilience.

Maybe even some left field options with people from other successful code teams to add some guidance, eg an Alastair Clarkson type.

From that article that was posted earlier regarding Garry Jack’s comments, they could certainly better engage with some of the old boys to get around the group. Jumper presentations, mentoring, come to training, helping to convey the history and beat parts of successful cultures of previous teams. Reinforce the identity of the club.

I do a lot of work with West Harbour Rugby and we always encourage the old boys to come back and assist the club. They are part of the clubs history and makes a huge difference and impact on the younger players. This year we had 3 or 4 ex players who are in the current Australian team come back to train with the boys for a few weeks. Their mentoring and support of the boys was great to see. The Tigers can do the same but the Old Boys have to be relevant to todays game and this is where I struggle to identify anyone from the Tigers in the past 10 years who would actually provide direction and support. These Old Boys need to have the respect of the players for it to be any advantage. Apart from Farah I can't think of anyone who fits the bill?

Rowdy - How quickly we forget.

Absolutely agree Russell - I did forget about him, I would certainly like to see him have some input into the Tigers culture

With Sheens looking after pathways & development, all we need are a new strength and conditioning team and a couple of assistants that can look after video analysis, tactics & addressing the players. That should give Madge everything he needs to be a successful coach in the modern era

i.e. assuming he has already sorted the gym....

Have we solved the players liking instagram post’s yet… the big issues…

Chammas is a bottom feeder

He's what bottom-feeders feed on.

All this Journalist hate on this forum , they only kick the stuffing out of us because we make it easy for them by being incompetent and pathetic on and off field! Winning clubs don’t get bagged day in day out like we do. IMO some people on this forum may be better served directing their suspicions and criticisms at the people that are actually responsible for the terrible results we have achieved for the last 10 years instead of the people reporting on them. Shooting the messenger went out with the Romans for good reason.. .I know Buzz is a special kind of Murdoch vulture but the rest are just calling as they see it for the most part and as all the Madge support group warriors commonly point out , the Journos are not the ones letting tries in and refusing to tackle or put effort in on the field !?

At the end of the day, I dont give a rats who coaches really, but to suggest Journalists are reporting factually exactly what is happening is a long stretch. They write anything they want, without fear of being questioned. They come up with random theories and then they each feed off each others BS. It is chinese whispers at its best.

If they are reporting the truth, then I'll wait for one or two of them to do so, and report facts, and identify the source of their leaks. I know, they wont do that because they have to protect their sources supposedly. The old 'source close to the club' BS. I can make anything up and if I get it published, does that make me a journo.

Now the recent events have shown our club lacking in some areas, but the fallout for journalists, who all lied or were wrong should be far greater. They wont admit the mistakes and so bottom feeders is a great description IMO.

He'd be outstanding as long as it leads to an NRL position for him. To entice him you will need to offer a carrot. He'd be wasted long term in an assistant position.

Absolutely agree. They got it WRONG! It doesn't matter what they were supposedly told and who supposedly told them, they reported rumours as fact. The last time I checked that was libel. Lee, how about YOU support YOUR coach and start issuing writs (thats YOUR area of specialty isn't it?). You can't tell me that Michael Maguire hasn't suffered reputational damage?

Looks like flano may be happening

Doubt the club is going to hire 2 ex head coaches to be assistants, plus Sheens as coaching director. Highly unlikely. At the end of the day no one has a clue what they would be bring to the table as assistants. It’s just cos they are recognisable names, so they must add something.
