Mitchell Pearce

Moylan would be on more coin than Maloney. They've signed Dugan and haven't really lost anyone of note so not sure how they can afford him.

Bird went, Dugan came in.
Maloney went, Moylan came in.

Slightly dodgy, but understandable. If they land Pearce as well though, yes that's when it is blatant cheating Roosters/ Storm/ Broncos style.

Dugan is on way more than Bird was, Moylan is on $300k more than Maloney a year, they are clearly playing the same game as chooks and broncs

Ah yes, I did forget about Bird, but what was he worth to Cronulla under the salary cap?

Remember they were not going to pay Maloney more which is why he left. Moylan was on a five year deal on stupid money. I reckon Cronulla would have paid more for Moylan.

Oh I don't for a moment doubt that Sharks are cheating the cap.

What I don't get is when a player leaves a cheating club (Storm, Broncos, Roosters, Cowboys, Sharks, Eels, Panthers, Manly, Bulldogs) when they go to a club that won't offer them the dodgy benefits that they were getting, why don't they or the club then go public?

Is it because it's a one way door, and players generally only leave the non-cheating clubs for cheating clubs, and don't come back against the tide? We got Josh Reynolds though…

And now they are talking up Pearce to Sharks... fair dinkum.

Newcastle fast becoming the place where all old Roosters go to die!! At least the Sharks didn't get Pearce as that would have made a mockery of the so called cap being in place to spread the talent.

signed with knights 4 years 1mil a year

Some reports suggesting even closer to $1.2m a year. Incredible. And they would say that Cronk is on less (although I bet he gets more).

I did read that they may have bonuses for Pearce at Knights if he helps them win the GF. If he can do that, I reckon they should rename the city after him.

Have to laugh at Manly - released Green on the expectation they would get Pearce. Now they only have DCE in the halves.

Brock Lamb may ask for a release so Manly could look at him as an option.

It'll be interesting how Newcastle go next year. They look to have a decent squad with a lot more quality players than what we have. I still think we may go better than them because I think our side will hopefully be tough and have plenty of depth.

Cooper Cronk really screwed us over. If he hadn't been so secretive and announced he was playing on and signed with the Roosters back in April, then we could have had a red hot crack at Pearce. Really poorly timed for us.
