That's not a bad side, but JT is right....we need a centre and a second rower...

Can anyone explain the obsession some people have with trying to turn Taupau into a back rower? He's the one bright spot heading into 2015, he's not broken, don't fix him.

the spine is set of moses, brooks, teddy and farah.

imo taylor and moss are trying to make a structure around these players who have signed long term. even though moss is from penrith, it looks more like the melbourne storm sort of a model.

i hope im right.

i highly doubt JT and Moss are doing any of this without a plan. we'll see how it works out. we dont have facts and whether you agree or disagree with these decisions- it's change. **we were 15th in 2013, we cant get worse, surely?**

****

16th?

One step forward and two steps back !

No other club is giving their juniors this opportunity. I don't care if we don't sign anyone, I just want our players to have pride in the jersey and play to the best of their ability each week. I would also like our coaching staff to develop our players and remove weaknesses. Is this really asking too much?
By the way who is head of our football operations? Is he/she a sleeper cell?

I feel the same way, but the trouble is the stronger teams are getting stronger while the weaker teams are getting weaker, and the risk of young players getting busted before their time defending for 80 minutes a week is a genuine concern.

JT should have kept his mouth shut imo.
This is a massively bad look for the club.

We have no money to sign any one….
Yet we need to make some signings.

.... future does not look bright.

Yep the PR'sas bad as the books

When Taylor got the job he said he needed to sit down, look at the roster, watch some footage and go from there.

From this I feel he decided Blair is a waste and found a taker in the Broncos. He probably has a few others he considers no good but no one will take them. Gavet was basically sacked before Taylor arrived, and once Jason was told why the club wanted Gavet gone he agreed, and Austin leaving had more to do with something kept quiet rather than his desire to play 6.

I also think with viewing the footage he now feels that there are no players on the market that are better than the youngsters we have coming through when you consider ability coupled with price tag.

I'm happy we have a coach and a guy in Moss who Identify this and back what we have rather then sign overs for useless players, or players that aren't quite worth what it will take to get them here.

There is a great battle for a number of positions with good talent amongst the candidates.

Great move by Jason Taylor and the coaching director to not waste money on a FPN or pay overs for SKD.

It's refreshing to read a post with thought and positivity in it. There's been, far too much negativity on here lately. I like your reasoning and agree with all of it king sirro

Yes. Agree completely. I understand people can bring emotions into this very quickly, as can I.

Everyone wants to win, and the best for this club.

Including JT,when emotion is taken out of the situation. Tigermanias post makes a lot of sense.

I wonder if the people who can see all the positives for the WT's will put their money where their mouth is and back us to make the Top 8 ….........

Luke Brooks (halfback)
Robbie Farah (hooker)
Mitchell Moses (five-eighth)
James Tedesco (fullback)
David Nofoaluma (wing/centre/fullback)
Curtis Sironen (backrow/five-eighth)
Aaron Woods (prop)

These are the only players at the club that are signed until the end of 2017\. These are the guys we're backing our futures on. The rest will be monitored over the next one or two seasons to see if they will stay on long term with this bunch. The money left over from those who don't cut it will help us add the players who will and resign the above players to extended deals.

Could also be what Taylor is alluding to. Back our youth and give them every opportunity for another two years. In the meantime our cap evens out, the overs stop, the back ended deals are finished and we have a relatively clean slate cap wise in 2017 to reassess.

Good enough for me. However, that doesn't mean they can roll over for the next 2 years, write off 2015 and 2016 and wait for 2017\. As long as we see them putting in the effort every week and wearing the jumper with pride then I'm willing to continue testing my patience. Who knows, injuries permitting our commitment and effort might be good enough to get our talented youngsters to the finals.

I think, we're in for a surprise in 2015\. We probably won't make the top 8 but i think we will be surprised.

really? IIRC 2014 was the most even season in i dont know how many years. 10 or 20.

especially midway through the season. roosters won the minor premiership with one of the worst ever win records, 30 pts needed for the 8\. crazy stuff.

I honestly wouldn't mind putting $100 on the tigers to make the top 8 in 2015\. We aren't certainties by any stretch of the imagination but you would swear we have lost andrew johns, darren lockyer and johnathon thurston in the last 3 weeks. The reaction to Blair leaving has been way over the top imo. Yes we're light in the second row, it just means one or two players are going to have to step up and take their opportunity (Sue, Tapuau, Halatau, Sironen, Santi).

Then again its the off-season and we are used to being let down as tigers fans anyway soo lets just look at the dark side.

Our team 1-17 has enough talent to make the top 8 under the right guidance of a new coaching staff, however our fete will depend on injuries and injury management. Heres hoping new staff and offield structures will bring forth better luck with injuries in 2015\. Don't give up just yet..

I recall Taupau coming off the bench and playing on the left edge a few times. Even once targeting Cherry-Evans against Manly at Leichardt and making a line break. It's not something that's totally out of the picture and as idiotic as your making it out to be.

Taupau is too good to be a bench player his whole career and has the mobility and speed to cut it as an edge second rower or playing in the middle at lock. That way he can fix our back row crisis whilst finding a way to maximise his time on the field. Kill to birds with one stone.

Why do you think the idea is so extraordinary ?

my big concern over the last few years has been that we have paid massive overs to keep our juniors.

it's a dumb game we have played with this pathway to the nrl tunnel vision.

Im stoked that I dont have to watch the two oxygen thieves..Blair and Anasta masquerading as footballers and eating up a chunk of our cap.

Im really excited to see our juniors hopefulyt get more time.

Moses is far better than Anasta, and i reckon Santi and Sue will show Blair how real footballers have a go.

Two upgrades and a huge save, and they are our juniors.

Win,win win….

I agree but sheesh our backrow better improve next year hence Im sure the OP's reason for putting Taupau there.

How many of those you mentioned will still be here in 2017 if they are getting bashed on a weekly basis . We may be ok for a while , but if injuries hit us again we are in deep trouble.
It won't take much enticement to convince those players that life will be easier with experienced , big forwards around them. Contracts mean nothing these days .
From a players ( and Managers ) point of view. what's the point of someone like Brooks shortening his career here, when he could easily go to a stronger club with a pack of forwards who can give him some protection.
I hope I'm wrong , but our depth is terrible and won't get better if what is coming out of the club is right!!!!

Farah is most likely gone after 2017, he'll be 33 and we'll be looking to push Cherrington by then (if he's patient enough to wait and continues to develop.)

Jack Gibson said that winning starts at the front office, I just wish if there is anybody in the front office they would let the supporters know WTF is going on.

They have let us know what is going on. We are now complaining about it.

I don't expect the board or Grant Mayer to publicly detail the clubs financial position. I also don't expect Jason Taylor to publicly divulge his strategies to place the Tigers in the top four.

To quote 'Yossarian' re Taylor again; "I guess either you believe the man or you don't."
