Dugan or Hayne ?

Niether Thanks.

Hardly any X Factor Fullbacks on the market once Teddy Leaves us

Lets assume we sign a decent 5/6 or 7 we still will have a huge void at Fullback

Next big things come along pretty often. Fullback is a position where young guys can make an immediate impact in first grade because they don't have to deal with front line defense. Teddy, Milford, Dugan, Ponga, French, RTS etc. all debuted at young ages. Dylan Edwards at the Panthers might be a good prospect and there is talk that the Panthers may feel the cap squeeze next year (which may have some validity given how many players they've signed up to long terms deals). Or we just go for a serviceable fullback for next year like Mead or Gordon and go to market in 2019\. There's no point throwing stupid money at Dugan or Hayne just for the sake of having a "big name" fullback if you think they're balls…

If tedesco goes id make a play for Dane Gagai.. Good player, reliable. Runs, passes, catches the bombs. qld rep

Plenty of ticker too - i like him except for when he puts on that Maroon jersey
Is he not signed up though for 2018 ?

Hmm, if Matulino is on board, Packer would be very handy or Kane Evans if he's still available. Milne in the centres with Suli would be good and we need a winger with genuine speed as we have none at the moment.

I think Aaron Gray is the besf available.
Heard he's mates with Nofo too…

Well we need someone decent and Gray fits the bill.

Gray could end up a great buy. Whats his current injury?

I've been pushing the Gray bus for a while, he is a gun. He has done his knee.

Why not both

Whilst i agree with the "stupid money" bit i also have a different opinion

You have mentioned good names and budding talents but i cant say they are game winners

Hayne, Teddy, Dugan, Moylan, Slater , these names are a different pedigree.

I dont count RTS in the same list, yes he is good but i think Nightingale is a better all-black

The good news is that in 2018 the Tigers will have an enviable amount of CAP money to spend on a vast array of rich NRL talent. The warning is that Tigers should by now be putting a very strong effort to sign the players they need otherwise these available players will quickly disappear. It appears that the Tedesco and Woods saga will be fully sorted out by next week so the club would then have no excuse other then to immediately go flat out in signing the players needed to provide a very competitive Wests Tigers team for 2018.

Dane Gagai is a must! Is the club even considering him, BT?

The way things are going, I can see us ending up with William Zillman at fullback - could be worse I suppose, but could be a whole lot better too.

Is he not signed up though for 2018 ?

Nope. Off contract this year..

He averaged over 150m when he played fullback for the knights. Thats last year when they were terrible. Imagine him in a good side.

Yeah, like Queensland. You saw what he did in Origin last year.

I am pretty sure Gagai can play all backline positions and would be very handy.

How much should the Tigers be looking to offer Gagai?

Gagai is a better centre than fullback

I saw a rumour that said the Tigers want compensation from the Eels before they release Moses. So, who do we trade Moses for? Personally, I'm thinking Gutherson. He can play anywhere in the backline and isn't half bad either. Though I doubt Parramatta will give up any of their players, I think they'll just wait for next year to get Moses.

Yeah, but at least he can play fullback in case there is an injury during a match etc.

Brisbane is a club that wants to hang on to any and every good player
Basically trying to prevent the player going elsewhere and if they see a good talent they poach them

Irritating to see

Don't the Broncos have a CAP to meet just like Wests Tigers have to?

Apparently Not
The way they sign players

Yeah they do and like the Roosters their CAP is a Sombrero.

There are a couple of problems with Gagai:

1\. He really wasn't that good at fullback for the Knights, which is why they ended up shifting him back to the centres. If he was a revelation at fullback he would be playing there ahead of Brendan Elliott and Peter Mata'utia. It is just a more important position than centre.
2\. We'd be signing him off the Knights. If there is one thing the Knights have it's money. So we'd be getting into a bidding war with the club that has the most coin to spend.

I'm not saying he's a bad player or that we shouldn't consider making an offer for him, but if we do it should be as a centre and not a fullback, and we shouldn't get drawn into a bidding war with Newcastle for his services because either way we would lose.
