@LaT said:Listened to the call and Taylor was controlled and measured, it wasn't a blow up or panic, straight away he opened himself to questions about how the team was going rather than rant and rave about how everyone was wrong, stark contrast to how some current NRL coaches conduct themselves in the media.
I've been frustrated as well, but hearing Taylor talk about why we are playing like this and what we are trying to achieve helps put things in perspective.

I like beer.
@Benjirific said:I'm actually quite concerned with him calling in like that, it comes across as extremely thin-skinned (as much as he tried to be 'open'), a criticism which I've heard labelled at him a couple of times.
I was concerned with a few things he said as well - firstly on Moses. While he defended him about his defence, he also said at one point "there's nobody better to replace him with in the club", which is a completely unacceptable thing to say about a young player publicly. Whether it is true or not is irrelevant, can you imagine what Moses is thinking of his coach's confidence in him when he hears this broadcast?
In addition to that, I simply can't agree with his proposition that you have to let your attack suffer to work on your defence. The fact is that you can spend every waking moment on your defence, but if you don't score a solitary point you can't win games. The three successful seasons this club has had have actually been a result of a positive defensive attitude rather than because of our attack. Take a look at Souths for example, they could always score points before Maguire got there, but he got their defence sorted without adversely impacting their attack and now they're a premiership threat every year.
I worry that Taylor is too stubborn to see or admit that his plan may not be working, considering two of our best assets long term (Brooks and Moses) have gone backwards as overall players since he took over. Their attack has gone way back, and their defence hasn't improved really, and if he as a coach stagnates their growth as players, the club will lose in the long term.

Went away at Easter and returned to find my house burgled . The jerk took all my whisky. (6 bottles of top shelf single malt) 😢 I now feel a similar feeling. Stuck with beer, but I'll get by. I like beer too but I love whiskey.
@alexaki said:@LCA said:I disagree completely. I think it showed Taylor for what he is; stubborn and blinkered.
How the hell is HE going to teach this group to "toughen up" , …. a phrase he used repeatedly in that interview?

HE needs to "toughen up" and accept that criticism goes with the territory of being an NRL coach where 9000 people pay to be members and sponsors tip in thousands of $$.
What in the world prompted him to think that calling into Triple M would do anything to build confidence of members and fans in coaching this team?
Could you imagine Bennett or Robinson or Toovey or Maguire doing that......????
I am m ore concerned than ever now. To me, it showed a fundamental flaw in his character to even think about doing that.
If he didn't have WT executive approval to do request that interview, he needs to be stood down...IMMEDIATELY!
Are you serious…?

Not much point JT calling that special training session if it did not contain a heavy emphasis on attacking play. My very serious concern is that JT doesn't realise that.
@razor7 said:Agree Gold Coast that Drinkwater should be tried at 5/8 for Moses who has shown nothing yet to suggest he is ready for first grade football. Drinkwater is sharper, more creative , has a better kicking game and better all round game vision.

Most of the ranting and raving takes place on this forum.
