The LEICHHARDT Myth

Are we really pretending that it wasn't Farah, or to a lesser extent Mbye that made it a sell out? It definitely wasn't our red hot form or any other made up reason.

Yep you are spot on.
They were the main reason's.
Mad Monday has started.

After that dross yesterday the one thing OP is whinging about is the crowd? Sweet baby Jesus…

After today's effort, they'll be lucky to get that again this year, be it Leichhardt or anywhere else.

Agreed

One reality of the game yesterday was that 99% of the support was for the Tigers ,play a Dragons,in form dogs or Souths there and 50% of that crowd watch from there TV . 17000 house full is poor for a club that now has 20000k members.
Yes the atmosphere blah blah yesterday …..the club has to play out of a stadium that holds 30000k minimum as it has an obligation to all members and fans to allow them to attend games .
Yes the atmosphere was ok yesterday but that is not future but then again the club and a large part of the supporter base like living in the past, there is nothing wrong with that but there are those of us that see real opportunities ahead for our club moving forward to cement the future, but playing out of stadiums that can not even service the membership base well I suppose that is tradition.

So Snake has been Gladys Berejiklian all along!

Getting 17,000 to a Titans game is a great effort no matter how much some will try to down play it

Mate its just goes to show how many halfwits support this club , how pathetic is it to post on a club forum critisizing 17000 people turning up to watch their own club.
It pointless even trying to debate the topic with these clowns , nothing will knock the chip of there shoulders.
Just plain pathetic !

Acidic review…...but it has its supporters...

Bulldogs, eels and Souths games should always be played at the bigger stadiums. LO and Campbo are too small. I’m surprised they scheduled the dragons game at LO… they were probably thinking we’d be out of finals contention by then. There is still a place for our two suburban grounds for the out of town teams though. I’d like to see an 8-2-2 split (and no games in NZ or Tamworth!)

Case in question the Dragons at LO oval so the majority of the paid membership base has got buckles of attending this game … the club is willingly signing memberships knowing they can not supply the product ... false and misleading maybe ...Pascoe get in the real world the case has been made take our club into the future and supply the accomodating and modern facilities for ALL! Wake up...

Funny i thought if you had a ticketed membership to Leichhardt Oval you can attend as you have a seat or ga if you wish..if it's a non ticketed membership there is probably a reason for that…

Theres bigger problems than making money each and every year?

Just looking at todays game as a planned fixture. Couldn't have been a better turnout and was probably the only positive, from what ended up as a less than impressive performance. Why people choose to go to Leichhardt is apparent to some, and dumbfounding to others. Regardless - as supporters of the club I would have thought that it is pleasing to see a fullhouse at any of our scheduled games.

Yeah a fullhouse and Farah back. I know I'm satisfied as a fan.

Sorry Gallagher not sure what your angle is. Not satisfied about anything today but the crowd showed up to see the team play and its clear that some dont like that. Would you be happier if we got flogged and there was only 5,000 there!
People went expecting to win - we didnt that is what the problem is today not the fact we had a good crowd at Leichhardt.

I really don't give a rats how many people were there yesterday. Over 19 seasons we average 12,000 there. We're losing money there year after year.
But every now and then we get a big crowd and fans rejoice like we've done something great.
20,000 members, 18,000 capacity ground and average 12,000\. That's not good figures.
The phrase 'accepting mediocrity'gets used a lot on here but in reality being mediocre is well beyond our reach.
The club is fumbling around in the dark.
But Benji and Robbie get their farewell and LO sold out. Another great year.

If there's only one opportunity during the year for a rare day game and the weather happens to be perfect for it, and the club happens to re-sign a fan favourite for many in the lead up to it then the stars align.
Great crowd but it's clear we're a split fan base.
#onehomeground

Just had a look on Facebook. So many fans gushing over the crowd. How easy is it to keep our fans happy?
Is there another team in the comp whose fans would be taking about a 17k crowd after such a bad loss and 6 points clear of the 8?

It was a Leichardt game on a Sunday, and that's an endangered species. The game itself's almost secondary. People were coming out just to support this institution. I talked to Dragons and Roosters supporters who came just to experience a Leichardt game.

So what is a membership worth !no matter what ground you have ticketed membership.. if you are supporting the club with any PAID membership you should be able to attend any game any time and pay for entry and the facility should be able to accommodate the paid membership base … there is NO reason this should not be happening when there are and will be venues to cater for the membership base !
If it was not bad enough the club pandered to 2 fan base grounds now it is three!

Its a scheduled game against an out of town team Gallagher wouldnt have got any more fans there at any other venue under the same circumstance, probably less.. And compared to what other Sydney club games get against the Titans a sell out is good for the game.

Regardless if and when we are playing from a home stadium, if any Leichhardt games are scheduled it would more than likely be against the Titans Cowboys Melbourne and if the fans respond to that - what is the problem?
If they want us to take games to Tamworth and Mt Smart why are you having a whinge about playing at a ground where there is a supporter base?
As for Farah and Benji your feelings are not shared by all Wts supporters like alot of the crowd that were there yesterday - as frustrating as that may be we dont all think the same and that will never change.
If it makes you any happier the mood arriving and leading up to, was much better than when leaving after another terrible second half.
Until a new a venue is designated you can only go to what is on offer and there are fans amongst us who like going to Leichhardt.
Like to meet a person that thinks we are having another great year.

I guess some people will just never get it.

For me and Im sure MANY others, going to Leichhardt a few times a year is more than just the footy.

I meet up with peeps Ive known for years, have lunch, a thousand drinks at several pubs surrounded by a sea of like minded orange covered nutbags.

Standing on the packed hill is a joy…it was buzzing yesterday and the comments were hilarious!! I laughed and screamed all day.
\
\
And then after more drinks and pub crawling!!
\
\
Even though we lost I thought it was an exciting game in great company and I enjoyed the whole day...even with the loss.

Rant over.

Finally can the Myth of Liechtdardt oval be put to bed as a fortress and other teams hate playing there….this truely is false and somewhat of a Myth!

Who said it is a fortress? You?

Nobody calls it a fortress. It is a great suburban ground that a lot of people like to watch football at, our players like to play at and other teams prefer not to play at (because of the crowd).

In latter years it seems instead of having a home ground advantage with penalties etc, the referees have gone the other way.

Is it a myth - no.

By the way - if you are going to post a thread - at least get the spelling correct.

It is LEICHHARDT!

A move full time to ANZ is a must. Instead of the NRL worrying about empty seats maybe they should look at the game itself. Glorified touch football will never fill stadiums.

They need to bring back attrition I believe.

Everyone goes on about a big crowd on a Sunday afternoon but these crowds have less atmosphere than the night games. The once a season crew rock up and sit on the hill and don’t get into the game dulling the atmosphere.

As much as i loved the hill, it needs to go.
Proper undercover stadium seating is the way to go for a real atmosphere.
I dont think we will be there much longer to get honest. Once parramatta is built and ANZ gets refurbished. They will be lured with money.
Its days are numbered.

I agree with this. I love Leichhardt, I grew up watching games there and it holds a lot of positive memories. But the reality is that seated stadiums with modern facilities are needed. I hope the club can continue to use the ground for a game a season against teams like Melbourne/titans/cowboys/broncos

Hopefully many are seeing my point of view ..I spent over $30 to stand on the hill and seeing was a problem and standing all afternoon …my normal 6 other companions were in front of the tele at home . Surely the club has to move into a new era and give its supporters a modern venue that offers value for money and viewing for all to enjoy .. and there is one coming on line very soon !

Maybe you need to stay home and watch on the telly if you are that precious.

You poor thing having to stand for a few hours. I stood for 5, don't regret a minute.

Leave Leichhardt to the real Tiger supporters. Lol

I don't care that it gives a few fans a warm fussy feeling. Its cost us money. If you don't think money is an issue for us then don't whine about missing the 8 every year.

Any business that provides poor working conditions for its employees will struggle to attract and keep quality employees.
